Nice XJS V12. They are a stunning design with probably the worlds best V12 ever designed. Would be interested to see the progress of the e-type

Jim, Really like the work they do at SE Jaguar. All original brings big $$. Your video’s give me motivation to finish my XJS. 95% complete. Always that last bit that takes forever. I would like to get a set of those 16” rims. TTFN

Wow, I remember trips to the mechanic with my dad and his xjs ten years ago, and now at 18, I'm tryna get it running again. Really amazes me that its been that long since me and my dad were where you and your daughter are. Beautiful car best of luck!

FYI there is a UA-cam channel called Living with a Classic. He shows a lot of the smaller but important jobs with these old V12s.
Worth a watch even if you don't want to tackle the tasks yourself. Good luck with that great looking XJS.

Your best video yet Jimbo. So glad the xjs is ok and it's not the head gasket. Yes more of these videos please. Andy looks after my xk8 so what's going on at SE JAGS is of particular interest to me.

I am happy for you Jimbo. Your XJS has a sister Maxie with her driver's seat on the left side who lives in Glenside, PA just north of Philadelphia. Truly a labor of love and a way of life. Very best to you and yours...

I really like your channel and I'm glad having watched this episode that it doesn't appear to be "Game Over" for the Jag! I'm slightly obsessed with the XJ-S and am thinking about finally scratching the itch I have with a 4.0. I'm not brave enough for a V12......yet!

You have a beautiful car I noticed on your video you should attend to the fuel rails the hoses start to become dry and can spray also to unplug an injector very common from sitting the repair could be as easily as disconnecting the lead installing a ground wire being careful not to touch the two together momentarily touch 12 volts rapidly and listen to the tone of the injector this usually will free them up a long thin screwdriver held up to your ear will give you that tone that you need to listen to also the distributor cap is a big culprit if your spark plug gaps are not correct

Hi Brand, thanks for the input. In fact we have discovered someone along those lines and will be addressing in a forthcoming video.

“Every time I come to the car something else has gone wrong”. I feel ya! My 1982 XJS has the same personality. 7years I’ve owned it, bought as a project, I’ve driven less than 1,000 miles. Currently, the fuel tank leaks, the power steering pump is groaning loudly, and it’s now hovering over small puddles of transmission and brake fluid. A bit discouraging, it almost as if it wants to be done with life.

i have been down this road the past 5 years with my V12 XJSC. Ist replaced Ignition leads, plugs, fuel lines, hoses, repaired oil leaks on cam covers, timing cover, replaced water pump, shock absorbers, brakes all round, water pump, oil cooler, water header tank. Now have a great rust free mechanically reliable car. Not replaced any lucas wiring, so far so good. Car only done 119000 KM since new 1987

You have a fitting missing on your distributor cap. It's the vent fitting that connects to a hose that goes to a filter on the right hand inner fender via the bulkhead to inner wing support bar.

    Hi Jim,
Have a battery cut off switch fitted …….save all that battery discharge grief, especially if the car is being used intermittently.

i like this channel, but, 1st bit of advice, never by a xjs unless you are abit mechanically inclined. you shouldn't own one unless you like paying out $150./ hr. once you get your head wrapped around, that like most V12's they are " 2 6 cyl " theyre fairly easy to work on. Have a miss ? Put your hand at they exhaust. That will tell you wich bank it is.
Hell, need a spark plug lead, replace all. Injector not working, rebuild them all. Preventive maintenance ! One of mine, 2nd day of ownership, ran on 6 cyl. Just to cover all bases, I simply decided to replace plugs, lines to the plugs, rebuild the injectors, replace fuel lines. Cost, approx $300.00 in parts ( Rock Auto ) and probably 15 hrs while sipping beers. But i learnt about the car/ motor. With all the help available on jaguar forums, youtube etc. it is fairly easy and enjoyable.. Do not be afraid of these V12s. They are magnificent !
    i own 2,

Sounds like its your injectors. Im having the same issue, misfiring with foulled spark plugs and all. I replaced the leads a year ago so the injectors must be getting stuck open. Also, the leaking oil cooler happened to me as well. They are not hard to find. Ordered one off of SNGBarratt.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.....so beware of cars in the future.

Love watching you videos and that you have the BALLS to admit you don't know the fuck about cars, I have owned and worked on many XJS's and love them, my current channel (Jagvette1) is more leaning towards classic Jaguars and other pieces of shit, but you might like it, I will now subscribe yo your channel :)
