Indeed. I'm watching him describe all the work he did to repair the body and thinking "I really, really hope they have some apprentices there to carry on Adrian's knowledge."
As a trained craftsman (aircraft) - I consider the term artisan to be an insult. The last thing I would want is my work to be viewed as artisanal. Artisanal work is all too often hit and miss, self taught, highly variable, unrepeatable and nothing like the skill levels and more importantly quality standards demanded of a time-served (practical rigour) night school educated (Theory grounding) craftsperson. Any of us, so trained, could do this quality of work because these are the standards we were taught over years following our similarly time-served mentors. “I can’t live with that!” Is exactly how we are taught to think as well as work. Things have to be done right or not at all. These Zagato cars were built originally by old school Italian coach builders who again are proper craft workers. The hideous repairs, bodges, and horror stories under the skin were clearly done by people making it up as they went along. That is what I think of when I hear the term Artisan.
Speaking as an ex mechanic, I was always,in awe of the guys in the sheet metal/bodyshop. How they could manufacture structure and panels from scratch amazed me. However, Adrian is on another level - truly fantastic craftsmanship. Yes, the bill will be an 'ouch!' moment, even with Harrys deep pockets - but the result will be outstanding and super- valuable.

I’ve just watched all nine instalments (so far). The engine rebuild is superb but the metalwork is just out of this world. Best series of films I can ever remember seeing.
This car will end up the lightest Lancia Fulvia 1600 Zagato in the world. Very little bog, double up panels removed and a perfect fit for all the panels. Sensational work. I'm glad I'm not paying the bill for this resto
What sorcery is this? These craftsmen are exemplary in their skills. At this moment in time, I am contemplating my next vehicle. I couldn't help but feel that the attachment you will have with this Lancia Fulvia after this wonderful restoration will never match whatever attachment I will have with my new vehicle. Wonderful work and it is always a joy and pleasure to see that there are true craftsmen (of both genders) out there.
I’m not a particularly huge fan of these cars or of Zagato per se, but the salt-of-the-earth genius, the sheer ability they display here has me routing for the success of this project as if it is my own investment and this project has, as a surprise to me, become my favorite Harry’s Garage project series yet. So I guess I’m saying thanks to all who have devoted their time to putting this online, Harry, the boys in the shop. Just great stuff.
The skills and attention to detail here are incredible. These need to be taught to the younger generation, but I don't think you could train into someone the passion and sense of achievement. Truly wonderful.
Apprentice body shop panel beaters should view this as dogma. The quality of workmanship and the way the work done is being described is just staggering. Waited patiently for this video and now having seen it I am in no way whatsoever disappointed. Fantastic content as usual from Mr M.
This thing is going to end up a mint ride. Harry, I would love if the "it's done" video could be very in depth and filled with beauty shots. And I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment! Gonna be real good!
Fabulous craftsmanship sorting out astonishing corrosion, and bizarre 'repair' work. This Zagato when finished is going to be the best in the world! I think back to the video of Harry driving the car before it went for this restoration, when we now know it was essentially just a cobweb of metal with seats and an engine...gulp!
I'm so happy to see the little Lancia again! Loved this video series so far, and I'm in awe of these men's workmanship: sure your car will be much better than it has ever been, and I look forward to see it shining in Rosso San Siro :)
This is like watching a Retropower video. Similar brilliant skill levels, but far more detail as to what was and what will be. So happy to see this car receiving the care it deserves.
You can get this work done to the same standard in many countries, maybe for less money. In each case, only a minority of restorers would have the skills, but it is not a uniquely British skill. The guys who bodged it were also British...
Harry thank goodness for the new fabricated TAILGATE cannot wait to see the brown paper templates to the finished article.!!! Bravo Sam and Adrian and the other Elves involved!!!
What an amazing transformation in that body! It reminds me of being taught by an ex Rolls Royce panel/metalworking expert named Harold, back in the 1960's He too was brilliant at details and making sure that everything was perfect! Fascinating!

This car is lucky it found you. Many wouldn’t have the dedication to put the car right again..It’s nearly a full reskin, not to mention the rockers and other structural pieces. These gentlemen really know their craft. I’ve restored some very rusty muscle cars and it’s many hours of fabrication and labor.
Having seen the dreadful condition of the body in previous episodes, the transformation in this episode is truly epic! These chaps are unbelievably good at what they do.
There's not many of the original panels left! I do wonder how stiff and safe the chassis is compared to today's cars with reinforced safety cell, intrusion bars etc. Best not to bump it!
@@frankchan5547 It's probably just as well that every panel has been attended to! Rust lurking under every possible skin... It's certainly going to be as good as it's every been, probably (as Harry said) better than factory new. Most cars of this vintage are "safe" in that they won't collapse under their own weight or fall to pieces when driven to the limit. However, there's no reinforced safety cell, intrusion bars, or anything. Have a head on with a modern car in something like this, and the Zagato will come off a lot, lot worse. Euro NCAP standards (and similar) have dramatically improved the safety of cars for the occupants. These days the manufacturers go to a lot of effort to get good crash test scores, often using expensive high tensile strength steel to help keep the weight down. It's also made them pay more attention to corrosion lifetime; there's no point having a NCAP score of 5 if, after a few years, it's rusted to the point where that's no longer achieved. Better materials, better protected and benefitting from better design results in longer-life cars. NCAP has also forced the body shops to improve. A body shop repairing a car has to put them back to as-new, using proper spare panels. Sub-standard repairs can significantly reduce the crash safety, and the repair shop can be held liable should someone suffer injuries that they should have been protected from had the car been as per factory spec. The NCAP score means that the extent to which you would be injured is now a quantifiable thing, and questions get asked if real world performance is worse. This can result in a crash repair (paid for by the insurance) being more extensive than just addressing the bent metal. If they find any corrosion, they're pretty much obliged to put that right too for the same reason.
Brilliant timing! I've just finished rewatching the previous episodes, then this pops up. I had the Corgi model of the Zagato when I was a nipper (the early style with side opening bonnet). I came home from school one day to find that my mum had accidentally put some of my collection in the bin. OUCH! I think that was the first Corgi to have an opening bonnet + engine. It may also have been the first with opening doors. So this has been a trip down memory lane for me. Thank so much for investing the not inconsiderable funds needed for a proper body rebuild. There's now at least one which will be preserved for future generations to admire.
WOW! You don’t realise how much work to exacting detail is involved until you see a car stripped down like this one. Great job guys. Looking forward to seeing the finished product, maybe by or before July 2022.
It's astonishing to see the lines as they should be. In retrospect the old shape sculpted in filler was looking very rounded, almost Austin Allegro-esque at the back! But these guys have really worked a miracle. When Harry first showed it in bare metal, I thought there was no way they could bring it back into shape. Yet a few months of careful crafting, and, well, the result is speaking for itself.
Just stunning craftsmanship and I think those front wings have become my favourite of any car. Blown away by rear boot edging too and love how he talks so matter of factly about gapping the doors and other techniques and they are perfect!!
I'm in total awe at the skill levels and perfectionist attitude of these guys. This will undoubtedly be the best bodied Fulvia Zagato on the planet. Lucky Harry has deep pockets. Also interesting to hear how even a straight from factory Zagato had lashings of filler, seems "bespoke" in Italian translates as "bodged".
British craftmanship at it’s finest. 😊👌 You really has something to be proud of. And hopefully there’s a new generation of panel magicians around, ready to carry the torch.
Adrian and Sam are true artists in metal. They have pretty much built you a new Zagato! What beggars belief is the previous "restoration" and the corrosion it was hiding! Prestige have turned your nightmare into a dream car.....
Unbelievable quality of workmanship! To know this work is still being carried out to an exemplary standard makes you so proud of the skills we have in this country!
I love this series of Harry fixing his cars! One thing I'm really noticing as a Canadian is their diverse accents. I've known for many years all about the differences between the many British accents and their many origins since I first watched "My Fair Lady" as a child. LOL. But here when the "panel sop" men are speaking they have a very thick Cockney type (I think) accent compared to Harry's Posh sounding British accent. VERY cool!
I could listen and watch these two extraordinary craftsmen for hours and never get tired of thinking 'how did they do that'? Harry I love all your video series but the Lancia tugs my heart strings. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
I love listening to these two guys, it’s not that I’m learning anything, it’s all too advanced for me.🤪 They both seem so natural in front of the camera. Thanks chaps!
The amount of work that’s been put into the new body by Adrian is unreal but it’s looking amazing, the sharpness of the panel lines is immaculate can’t wait for the next update
What an odyssey this has been and there is still a good way to go. I went back to watch the first installment of the restoration series in which Harry optimistically describes the project as an engine rebuild "but we might have some more jobs done." Kudos to you, Harry, for your willingness to see this through. She's gonna be a beauty!
Adrian's an absolute genius. Proper old school auto fabricator. He's pretty much rebuilt that body, single handedly. For God's sake Harry, when this beautiful project is finished, take him for a drive in the Zagato and buy him a pint.
Looking fabulous! Great to see the sharp and subtle lines emerging from under all that filler. Can't believe the quality of the previous 'restoration'. Looking forward to seeing it in colour.
Fascinating story we're sharing with this restoration. It's a treat and a real insight to see these guys perform their magic! It's going to be a very special car I suspect.
It's now possible to see the detail in the artistry of Zagato that makes this project worthwhile. This car will continue for eternity to give pleasure to everyone who sees it and, as such, the cost of its restoration can be considered an investment in net human happiness.
A joy to watch the dedication Sam and Adrian are putting into the body rebuild. We are witnessing years and years of working to the highest standards. I couldn't help hoping that some keen younger generation have the chance to learn from these craftsmen before they hang up their tools.

This is becoming one of those Ship of Theseus moments... won't be much original left... but man it's so cool to see true craftsman at work. Thanks Harry for taking us on this journey!
What Adrian, Sam and the team at Prestige Refinishing have achieved/are doing to the Fulvia is just incredible. Call me old-fashioned, but I hope they have an apprentice scheme and are trying to pass their skills down to the next generation. The mind boggles as to the cost of all this but, if I remember from this car's first appearance on the channel, as a boy Harry used to see this exact car around Merseyside - so I'm sure the Fulvia Zagato is a keeper and the investment being made in this has far more than just monetary value.
I've never seen a Zagato in person. I've only ever seen them oin virtual tours, videos like this and the like. I've never seen one with sharp edges as pronounced as this. In fact, the front fenders almost look foreign to me or at least my mind. But it looks so much better and fitting to the car once you see those edges and curves as they were meant to be. Well done on the mastery of skills presented to this project.
I love the way Adrian says "I'll just make it to the same standard as the other door.." and all of us are picking our jaws off the floor at the stunning skill of the guy.

Amazing to see the rust, totally rotten, then the bare metal and then with primer. It's bloody amazing what these artisans have achieved.
Incredible to watch these absolute masters do their work, would love to see it in person
I always love how a quick coat of primer can make a patchy eyesore look like a perfect car (provided all the right work has been done, of course).
And what happens when these artisans stop working, will there be anybody to replace them?
This chap knows how to do metal work, he’s a real artisan and a master of his craft!

Hmm. May be close to time for another update on this marvelous machine! I sure hope so, 'cause it's amazing to see the craftsmanship evident here.
The true power of Britain is held by “men in sheds” like these maestros. A wonderful 20 minutes in all the chaos.
The skills and attention to detail here are incredible. These need to be taught to the younger generation, but I don't think you could train into someone the passion and sense of achievement. Truly wonderful.
The skill of these guys is out of this world! Sadly and possibly a dying breed
The man-hours! The cost!! A true labor of love. Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Apprentice body shop panel beaters should view this as dogma.
The quality of workmanship and the way the work done is being described is just staggering.
Waited patiently for this video and now having seen it I am in no way whatsoever disappointed. Fantastic content as usual from Mr M.
The incredible craftsmanship just gets better and better.
This thing is going to end up a mint ride. Harry, I would love if the "it's done" video could be very in depth and filled with beauty shots. And I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment! Gonna be real good!
Harry sums this up brilliantly "its got to a standard I never expected to see"
Fabulous craftsmanship sorting out astonishing corrosion, and bizarre 'repair' work.
The dying art of craftsmanship. I love watching these catch up on the Zagato.
This is like watching a Retropower video. Similar brilliant skill levels, but far more detail as to what was and what will be. So happy to see this car receiving the care it deserves.
British craftsmanship at its finest and you end up with a silk purse 👍🏻🏴
You can get this work done to the same standard in many countries, maybe for less money. In each case, only a minority of restorers would have the skills, but it is not a uniquely British skill. The guys who bodged it were also British...
Harry thank goodness for the new fabricated TAILGATE cannot wait to see the brown paper templates to the finished article.!!! Bravo Sam and Adrian and the other Elves involved!!!
so pleased to see how well this work is coming along - the metalwork mechanic Adrian could run his own courses on how to do this
Projects like this are why UA-cam needs a 'Wow' button. What amazing work these guys are doing.
What an amazing transformation in that body! It reminds me of being taught by an ex Rolls Royce panel/metalworking expert named Harold, back in the 1960's He too was brilliant at details and making sure that everything was perfect! Fascinating!

They are one of the best concerts, you can not go but just seeing them from the screen, I know it was surprising

Amazing craftsmanship on this restoration. This car is literally being reborn.
I think that English wheel and stretcher should be named in honour of Harry for his work in supporting the British restoration industry. 👏🏾
WOW! You don’t realise how much work to exacting detail is involved until you see a car stripped down like this one. Great job guys. Looking forward to seeing the finished product, maybe by or before July 2022.
Great to see the update on the Zagato. Sam & Adrian are true artists and craftsmen.
Stunning workmanship from Sam and Adrian. Well done, guys.
Even like that, you can really enjoy the lines. Such an elegant little car!
That new door he made is a work of art
What a joy to see this form of craftsmanship, let’s hope these skills will be handed down to younger folks.
Listening to the work that’s gone into the doors was magic 👨🏻🏭
British craftmanship at it’s finest. 😊👌
You really has something to be proud of. And hopefully there’s a new generation of panel magicians around, ready to carry the torch.
Adrian is an absolute genius with the metalwork, absolutely outstanding stuff.
Abracadabra and here’s a real Fulvia Zagato reappearing… unbelievable craftsmanship on this tiny Italian beauty. Bravo!
Adrian and Sam are true artists in metal. They have pretty much built you a new Zagato! What beggars belief is the previous "restoration" and the corrosion it was hiding! Prestige have turned your nightmare into a dream car.....
Those two guys are proper skilled crafts men, fantastic to see it done properly 👏
Unbelievable quality of workmanship! To know this work is still being carried out to an exemplary standard makes you so proud of the skills we have in this country!
That is the most beautiful line on the top of the front wing that I have ever seen on a car, ever.
Absolutely incredible work by those chaps. Also never realised how beautiful the lines and design details are on these little Lancias
Thuis turns out to be a re built from scratch - simply stunning work and craftsmanship!!! Awesome!
I love listening to these two guys, it’s not that I’m learning anything, it’s all too advanced for me.🤪 They both seem so natural in front of the camera. Thanks chaps!
Outstanding Harry!!! The gentleman who did the outside skin repairs is a magician. He deserves a raise.
The amount of work that’s been put into the new body by Adrian is unreal but it’s looking amazing, the sharpness of the panel lines is immaculate can’t wait for the next update
The panel gap will probably be better than when it left the factory. What a journey this has been!
Adrian and Sam are two blokes at the top of their game 👏
Favourite project! Way to go 🤌
What an odyssey this has been and there is still a good way to go. I went back to watch the first installment of the restoration series in which Harry optimistically describes the project as an engine rebuild "but we might have some more jobs done." Kudos to you, Harry, for your willingness to see this through. She's gonna be a beauty!
Superb craftsmanship. I keep imagining someone called Carlo saying ‘ looks about right to me’ in Italian at the Zagato works back in the day.
You picked the right guys for the job, jeesh these guys are craftsmen and artists
Adrian's an absolute genius. Proper old school auto fabricator. He's pretty much rebuilt that body, single handedly. For God's sake Harry, when this beautiful project is finished, take him for a drive in the Zagato and buy him a pint.
My favourite restoration - it already looks amazing now its back to more like its original design. Thanks for sharing and excellent workmanship
Fabulous cars would be lost without people like you Harry, thanks.
Looking fabulous! Great to see the sharp and subtle lines emerging from under all that filler. Can't believe the quality of the previous 'restoration'. Looking forward to seeing it in colour.
Must have missed it, but hopefully is it going to be finished in it's original colour, orange? 👍
Can't believe what an absolute rust bucket-bodge job this car was. Amazing!
...and how well that had been hidden!
Fascinating story we're sharing with this restoration. It's a treat and a real insight to see these guys perform their magic! It's going to be a very special car I suspect.
Wow ! The lines of this car are awesome !
Everywhere you look, there's not a single straight body line. Amazing work from Adrian ! 👍😊
It's now possible to see the detail in the artistry of Zagato that makes this project worthwhile. This car will continue for eternity to give pleasure to everyone who sees it and, as such, the cost of its restoration can be considered an investment in net human happiness.
I'm looking forward to seeing the smile on your face on your first drive.
A joy to watch the dedication Sam and Adrian are putting into the body rebuild. We are witnessing years and years of working to the highest standards. I couldn't help hoping that some keen younger generation have the chance to learn from these craftsmen before they hang up their tools.
The Lancia Fulvia 1600 Zagato is a classic piece of art.

most art does not rot that fast ;) Beautiful car though
I've watched this video in complete awe of these guys. Forget Picasso or that Banksy bloke, here are the real artists. 👍
