The way you're talking about this car is like listening to someone who has a beautiful labrador but complains that it's "tying." Get rid of it then. Anything of any real value has to have some of your energy put into it. Buy something recent from Germany or Japan instead,,, something you won't want. Better yet; get a Tesla.

The speed bumps ate horrendous, I have side exit pipes with 3.5 inch clearance and have to be careful over railway tracks as well

That 308 QV is not fibre glass, they never were. Only the very first 308's ( two valve ) were fibre glass and dry sumped. They are the very rare ones.

I have the same car. 125k drives like a dream and is my car of choice over my BMW 640d. I've had it chipped to 200 bhp and put Voloce alloys on it and it handles like a dream on its bigger tyres. You have to drive it and it gives you loads of feedback. I've been lucky enough to have spent my life in big limo type cars but this is the one that is my go to drive. Oh and the looks

When describing an old Jag the first word thought of is always RUST.

An important piece of information Germany is now getting the missing money from garage owners through fines: The building authority is currently banning people from putting deregistered cars or cars with seasonal license plates or classic cars in garages, so my neighbor got a high fine and I now have to sell my old car there By order of the building authority, I am no longer allowed to put it in the garage and no longer tinker with it outside (in my own secluded garden!) and I cannot register it because the body has not yet been completely finished...the new Gavvo legislation is prohibited Every action in the garage other than driving in and out or unloading and loading categorically (even vacuuming!). I even had to put my old car, compressor and work table out in the snow, take a photo of it and send it to construction supervision. In the future, deregistered cars will no longer be allowed to be parked, as they are considered a structure on private property as soon as they are deregistered and you will then automatically be contacted and asked for a building application.

You UK people deal with so much corrosion on cars. Rarely see that on cars living in Australia.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars, trucks and busses including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany, the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!

I love my 06 9-3 Aero, I too had to have the clutch done on mine which wasn't the cheapest job but luckily that was covered under dealership warranty. I could've gotten a BMW, Merc, Audi or something of that nature, but I wanted something different and Saabs provide that. Also, from what I can tell mine seems like a fairly honest car mechanically.

The xjs at the end sounds epic! I know the Jag has gone but it’d be great to have some updates on the how you’re getting on with the Saab and Alfa - both interesting cars themselves.

What a beautiful example of one of the sexiest cars ever created!! The choice of color and wheel design really compliment the Jag's body!! I first learned of the XJS back in 1989 when my cousin was given a maroon 1978 XJS, as a graduation present from his parents! I've been in love with the XJS ever since! Good luck with your cool Jag!

I just bought an 84 V12 Coupe and I intend on doing everything to it. Here's the biggest roadblock, if you sell the car you're never going to replace it and you are going to miss the hell out of it. So before you decide to sell it put it away and forget about it. But in the long run it will always be there for you if you want to go back to it❤

They ruined the side profile with that rear quarter window. The facelift XJS never looked the same unfortunately. The rear boot spoiler doesn’t do it any favours either, neither do the rear lights or the chrome strip across the rear. In all honesty the facelift in my opinion ruined a bloody fantastic looking car. The starfish alloys & the pepper pots were far better looking too. Who the hell came into Jaguar & did these facelifts ?

You say the car bottoms on speed bumps. With on the work you have done to the car did you have the suspension gone over? Dampners and springs do wear out over time on cars especially heavy ones.

A surprisingly quick car in 3rd gear and above. Lovely seats, good driving position, nice handling though I find the steering a bit light and the Aero suspension a bit too firm for my old bones. Interior on my ‘08 a bit creaky here and there but I love the dash layout and the air vents are a work of art. Paint is thin and chips very easily. Overall, a good, enjoyable, “different” car. What a shame SAAB died.
