Kripp's editing is getting better, it's looking nice! I got golden monkeyed two games in a row, as well as during an arena game recently. The first time I lost, because I was already going to lose, won the other one because I was already winning and the monkey couldn't save him, but the arena game was won by me because the player put too much value on getting the monkey out. There were too many turns where he (probably) could have played better cards but went searching for the golden monkey. You simply can't put too much value on the card, despite how cool it is.
Most people don't understand Elise's real value. It serves as a substitute for multiple legendaries in a single deck in order to win vs control matchups while not being a completely dead card vs aggro. Its effect doesn't NEED to happen, it's an assurance, should the game go through the super late game. Think of a control warrior, whose only way to win vs control decks is to play many heavy cards, say Ysera + Nefarian. Using those 2 cards together in a deck will most likely win you games vs other control matchups, but sure as hell lose you TONS of games vs aggro. So you can swap Ysera for Elise, and Nefarian for another early game spell. In this way, you get the edge vs both control and aggro: vs control, you might actually get to see the Monkey's full value, and just win. Vs aggro, you're basically using a shitty 4-drop, which is still WAY better than having a useless Ysera or Nefarian in your hand. People labled it as a "bad" card simply because they never see the full effect happen, but in reality its real effect happens within the deck building, since it allows you to run less big minions, while not auto-losing vs control.
+TGslayer Hearthstone i did once, and i won every game i got to play her...but i never even found the map...it got to the point where i was literally refusing to kill my opponent just because i wanted the DAMN MAP...it never showed up neverlucky
+Josh S Yeah, if your other options are Cho and Pagle she's probably wirth picking. However, if you have Boom or Cairne or something to pick I'd rather choose those.
The problem with Elise is statistics. You start the game with her shuffled into a random spot in your deck. You play her and shuffle the map into a random spot in your deck. You play the map and shuffle the Monkey into a random spot in your deck. Statistically speaking at least one of those cards is going to wind up at the bottom most games. That makes it impossible to reliably get any value from her. However she seems fine for deck designed to run people out of resources. Slow decks, mill decks. She can pretty effectively turn the remaining junk cards in your hand into threats after the game goes to fatigue. Playing Elise means you can be less worried about holding certain cards until your opponent is out of answers, as drawing the Monkey can turn all the dead draws left over into something useful.
I feel like Kripp is a bit off with the control priest thing, the reason Elise is good in that deck is because the problem with control priest is that they never really had threats just lots of answers, so you'd get to fatigue then lose to Force savage or Alex Grom and cant do anything, but when elise gives you a 6/6 for 4 and a tonne of legendaries in the end game it can be really cool
Short summarize: Elise is so good due getting to fatigue in a control deck, due to you might have some dead cards left in your hands that draw you cards or buff something or removal, so turning these useless cards into playable cards makes Elise OP in those decks. The big mistake people make is they try or make deck to draw the Monkey... that is wrong the monkey is there to turn your useless cards that are left over at fatigue... into useful ones.
Kripp I went from Rank 17 to Rank 8 on 6-7 January with a warrior fatigue deck, drawing the monkey most games and the other ones agro decks conceded when I armored up back to 30, if you're interested I'll post the decklist, I'd say its over 55% based on rough calculations
Kripp you need to do a video on Museum Curator. It's basically like lubricant for a really slow deck. Draw it early? Good chance of a nice 3 drop. Draw it late? Good chance of a nice 8 drop.
Summaryno Kripperino: Arena: turns out is preeeettyy bad Constructed: is a fun card to play "If you are playing a fatigue control deck it turns out is pretty good" (actual Kripperino words) Thoughtsteal punishes.
I've tried a Draw-like-there's-no-tomorrow-Lock with Elise, and was unsuccessful mainly because by the time the monkey comes out, the deck has drained all its "fuel". A second version proved more stable, using cheap mechs for defense and grabbing spare-parts, Bronzebeard to trigger double-map (and double heal-bots, etc.) and Chromaggus to get extra legendaries when the time comes. This new version was much more consistent (there DOES exist *too much* draw), but the drawback is that the matches often take too long.
I like having Elise in my Priest control deck, purely because it can turn cards that have no function in the late game. Having the ability to turn a Zombie Chow or a late drawn Shadow Word: Pain into stuff like Varian Wrynn or Tyrion can be especially pleasant. But yeah, I know the card doesn't win me the game. But it certainly does more than Loatheb ever did in my deck, previously.
How to break the curse of 50-50 miss the attack from mogor: 1.Left click your creature, point it to attack on the face and wait 2.Shout 3 times ESPORTS (See 17:25 for tutorial of how to shout esports) 3.Immediately hit left click on enemy face. Goodluck!
i got elise in arena, got the monkey, played the monkey in top deck wars with like 26 health, got it mind controlled next turn, and drew lorewalker cho then millhouse... i cried a bit that day
+Asher Einhorn I think it works with gang up if you clone a card of your own deck. It doesn't add cards that doesn't already belong to your deck, I think. So entomb wouldn't work most of the time. Map and monkey will never work. Not sure though, can anyone confirm ?
Elise would actually be good if her text said "add a map to the golden monkey into your hand" 1. It fits the aesthetics 2. You can get the golden monkey earlier 3. It becomes a vanilla 3/5, effect draw a card for 6 mana. Instead of 6 mana 3/5 put a golden monkey in your deck
IMO, Paladin is the best class for getting the Monkey. It's got all the cards you need to keep you alive and kill enemy minions while drawing cards searching for Elise, the Map and the Monkey : Hammer of Wrath, Lay on Hands, Solemn Vigil (comboed with Equality and Consecration it gives you 2 cards and an enemy board clear for 6 mana), Aldor Peacekeeper, Truesilver Champion and Holy Wrath. Just add the usual fatigue deck stuff like Coldlight Oracle and Deathlord and you can expect a success rate (getting the monkey AND winning the game) of about 33%.
I was playing a Druid golem deck with my Druid golem deck, there was a point when it was turn 26 and we had tons of jade idols in our deck. Yes this wasn't a friend a real player and me were having fun. I eventually drawer golden monkey, went full YOLO and got 50 legendaries
Elise is on average the 15th card in your deck (average for any card) If you play Elise when you draw her, the map is on average the 24th card in your deck. The monkey is then on average the 28th card in your deck. This means you need to double up on monkeys and/or maps as well as have a lot of draw if you want to reliably get Elise. Or just get ridiculous luck.
Played Mage against Reno Warrior once. He played Elise. I had one Counterspell in the entire deck. Played it. Countered his Map to the Golden Monkey. I kind of felt bad afterwards...
Just A Question Krippy, Why Caps At The Begginning Of Every Word In The Title. Also great video, :D and I am glad you don't go all caps like some youtubers.
Can piloted sky golem drop the golden monkey? I know it wont activate the battlecry but getting a 6/6 with taunt would still be an incredible tempo swing.
the problem with the golden monkey is that it's always shuffled in the last five cards or so. i tried duplicating elise and using bran. sometimes i got 8 to 10 shuffled but you cannot get the monkey without fatigue strategy. at least from my experience
I actually made a Midrange Hunter deck sorta thing that abuses all of Hunters' filter content, Desert Camel, Mad Scientist, Call Pet, the deck is much more consistent with getting the monkey but the winrate is less so.
Constructed mill rogue , just got 3 doctor boom, and other awesome taunst and the monkey, making impossible to lose. you can get legendary for any class, like malorne (who won a game for me) but also antonidas that wont do anything because you have no spells. all the times i got the monkey, the enemy could not respond and lost.

Elise is preeeettty good in ramp Druid because it hardly has any spell removal except for wrath and swipe. Also it's a great card for end game when you have barely any cards
I think people are using elise wrong. i think it should be used as a resurrection tool for "dead cards" some cards can be completely useless in a control deck past a certain point. and elsie turns them into legendaries. so in a situation where the only thing in your deck and hand is absolute trash (Draw cards. zombie chows . shit like that ) you play the monkey and BOOM it turns into something useful.
i picked elise 3 times for arena. If im not wrong i did 11 7 and 8 wins with that decks i drew monkey 11/3 7/1 8/2 actually it happens if elise choice comes on first 10 cards u can build a slow control deck it works actually
I got hammered by that card a week or two ago. Guy played Elise on curve, next turn played the map and then 2-4 ish turns later, out came the monkey But I'd already lost by that point and it was on that turn he put me out of my misery.
had the funniest game vs elize warrior, i was on mill druid for funzies and i happened to mill the monkey. The game went to the very end with many fatigue turns :D win!
well yeah but with 700 gold you should usually go arena anyways. and if you have all the cards you need from arena then you dont really need the gold anymore anyways.

Dude yes
+Cheesus Almighty 2 mana map
+Cheesus Almighty The monkey is a delayed 6 mana 6/6 with taunt.
It also replaces all your legendaries with new ones
Jeffrey Zhang And it's still 100x more cost efficient than some of the other cards you have access to, all legendaries is kinda limited in that sense.
Most people don't understand Elise's real value. +TGslayer Hearthstone Yeah she's a 3/5 4-mana drop, I don't see a reason why to avoid picking her
Josh S yeah exactly what i was thinking, you lose one attack for one of the coolest effects in the game.
+TGslayer Hearthstone but that cool effect has no meaning until way later into the game
+Josh S Yeah, if your other options are Cho and Pagle she's probably wirth picking. However, if you have Boom or Cairne or something to pick I'd rather choose those.

I had quite a success playing the monkey on my reno warlock, wich does great on the late game and just draws the whole deck quite frequently

I just realized, you can now play infinitely long games if a priest uses excavated evil, no fatigue cause 1 draw per turn.
i got elise in arena, got the monkey, played the monkey in top deck wars with like 26 health, got it mind controlled next turn, and drew lorewalker cho then millhouse... i cried a bit that day
@Kripparrian I love the glow around cards... What are you editing with?
Can you get golden monkey as a random drop from discover/unstable portal type mechanics?
so does the deck tracker not work with gang up / beneath the grounds / entomb / map and monkey etc?
+Asher Einhorn I think it works with gang up if you clone a card of your own deck. It doesn't add cards that doesn't already belong to your deck, I think. So entomb wouldn't work most of the time. Map and monkey will never work.

I don't know what's the deck called where rogue keeps shadow stepping oracles and fatigue you but they play this card and it seems to work

what about a control hunter tracking elise stalleg and feugan (I probally spelled that wrong) deck?
I've had some minor success with Mill Rogue Monkey, but it was at lower ranks, so it doesn't say much. lol
I was playing a Druid golem deck with my Druid golem deck, there was a point when it was turn 26 and we had tons of jade idols in our deck. Yes this wasn't a friend a real player and me were having fun. I eventually drawer golden monkey, went full YOLO and got 50 legendaries
I put her in my mill rogue deck, got it to work several times. Fun play
Good quality! Finally! Rejoice!
Another video, another day closer to Afrorino.
Hey Kripp have you ever looked at Star Crusade?
it's a CCG that is like Hearthstone with a space theme.
+Mikey Pesano so it's a copy of hearthstone with a shameless theme to cover it up
+Alexander Markström There is no denying its is a Hearthstone clone but, it can still be fun

:) Brian kibler has mastered the fine arts of monkeying around with the help of anduin
I play it as an anti-stall card in combo or stall decks, so that my deck has 1 less turn of hurting me, potentially two if you time the map right.
ESPORTS ESPORTS ESPORTS!
+Le Monarque yusssssssss
Is it just me but GoldenMonkey splashart reminds me of Disney movie Alladin, when Abu runs to underground and stuff?
Why didnt Fiola Lighbane trigger its divine sheild when she got shadowmadnessed? I know wild pyromancer triggers.
Coz ild puro is after u cast a spell and light bane is when i assume
17:25 that one way to win in Hearthstone
It's nice that Elise gives you one extra card in your deck, but I would have her draw one card as part of her battlecry just because of what she does.
I actually made a Midrange Hunter deck sorta thing that abuses all of Hunters' filter content, Desert Camel, Mad Scientist, Call Pet, the deck is much more consistent with getting the monkey but the winrate is less so.
Thanks for the inspiration i can think of a hunter control deck with finly and ghazrilla
Also elise and tracking :o
Which deck tracker does Kripp use? I was thinking about getting one and his seems pretty good.
The deck tracker everyone uses
Lightbane doesn't get divine shield when shadow madnessed?
Running elise in Dragon Mage. Does AMAZING. I have Bronzebeard and duplicate though also. Double map, and maybe get more elise's
Elise is pretty great in a lot of Reno decks... Did he mention that? Maybe he did. I don't know.
Krip!!! Can you'd a video about this week tavern brawl using a spell based freeze mage :D its super awesome!

you can get legendary for any class, like malorne (who won a game for me) but also antonidas that wont do anything because you have no spells.
all the times i got the monkey, the enemy could not respond and lost.
(In constructed) I once wasa mage and had 8 health left, and drew the map. I played the map and I drew the monkey.
Then I drew Varian Wrynn (Draw 3 cards. Put any minions you drew directly into the battlefield.) One of the 3 cards was hogger
gg
I threw Elise into my Reno lock it works pretty good and can help against control and is a four drop that had decent stats against Aggro
what is a Kripperino ? can someone tell me ? why are you doing this ?
+Lula Lina Cos Elise is OP and he want to win all arenas.
+Lula Lina WHY ARE THEY SO CRUEL!
I CRI :(
+Lula Lina Because why would you not spam random shit on Kripps channel?
+Mr.Vojtik Well that was a good answer... To a different question...
A kripperino is the new term for virgin
love when you said the word control prist i just meat a controll prist ... (yeah im palying heart stone well watching your video...
Elise is preeeettty good in ramp Druid because it hardly has any spell removal except for wrath and swipe. Also it's a great card for end game when you have barely any cards
i like this video, full of great plays and draws
I think people are using elise wrong. i think it should be used as a resurrection tool for "dead cards" some cards can be completely useless in a control deck past a certain point. and elsie turns them into legendaries. so in a situation where the only thing in your deck and hand is absolute trash (Draw cards. zombie chows . shit like that ) you play the monkey and BOOM it turns into something useful.
This isn't yesterday's video. Damnit Kripp
Would be cool if Deathwing and Nefarian had some interaction like Cairne and Garrosh do.
elise, lorewalker cho or blackhand? I think I'd choose elise...
Cho
Hobbs has some awesome Cho videos.
Obviously cho. Kappa
***** I would choose blackhand, he saved my life against a deathwing from an unstable portal, so I like the guy
what if you elise + gang up? That would be fun
one guy had double battle cry, and did all that golden money stuff. I just used a thought steal and got it very early. i took all his progress.
19:17 Why did you end your turn, without Armoring up ?!?
+Max Madmax BM
***** There are no misplays, only BM
have you tried Bronzebeard+elise+sap its soo legit
it took me a while to figure out the 3rd deathlord came from museum currator. i just feel silly now
why is legendary written in bold? how is that a triggerword or how its called
i picked elise 3 times for arena. If im not wrong i did 11 7 and 8 wins with that decks i drew monkey 11/3 7/1 8/2 actually it happens if elise choice comes on first 10 cards u can build a slow control deck it works actually
I thought it was cool how Kripp is critical of Blizzard on some stuff but was positive of this card.
Isn't the monkey shuffled into your deck aswell? 32 Cards then instead of 31?
Yes but when you play the map you also draw a card so he didnt count it in
dimitris mitos ah I get it - thy
No because the map draws you a card. You could say that the monkey the only extra card is.
you play Elise in a control deck. she turns your unused tech cards into legendaries
We just want to play guys...
* Plays Eydis.
3/5 really isn't a horrible stat line, sure the +1 attack on the yeti is nice but it's no the end of the world
inconsistent? ive seen multiple players get legend with Elise control decks.
I got reno in arena yesterday. Only 1 dupplicate in my deck aaaaand I went 1-3
I got hammered by that card a week or two ago.
Guy played Elise on curve, next turn played the map and then 2-4 ish turns later, out came the monkey
But
I'd already lost by that point and it was on that turn he put me out of my misery.
It's a joke *****, that a monkey hammered my butt.
At least, that's what I took his message to be and it made me chuckle, so, it's a goodie IMO :)
Peanutsreveng3 Indeed :P Glad I could make you chuckle
had the funniest game vs elize warrior, i was on mill druid for funzies and i happened to mill the monkey. The game went to the very end with many fatigue turns :D win!
isn't the monkey basically 6 mana due to the map costing 2 mana for a redraw? 6 mana for a 6/6? That's terrible tempo
I coined out elise. got the map next turn then monkey after that then played him on turn 8 or 9 i think. won the game to easy
I played it in a Druid. Worked quite well.
Dat poker face tho 9:26
I play Elise because she adds a card to the deck. Playing Fatigue Priest.
Same here
the last wing of league of explorers is really bad, I'm not sure if it's worse to waste 700 basically for this one card :/
Well there is museum curator for priest
You get animated armour too right?
That's pretty neat imo
Museum curator is pretty amazing
Also the fights in that wing are the best ones in the game imo so if you care about that
Blaze Taleo yeah but I mostly bought it for the cards :p and I think museum creator and the armor are more.. replaceable cards :/
well yeah but with 700 gold you should usually go arena anyways. and if you have all the cards you need from arena then you dont really need the gold anymore anyways.
Pleaaaase kripperroni, make a "How good is anub'arak?" vid!
Played against an Elise warrior as a mill rogue. Gang upped the golden monkey and we both got it :D
