Great video. Where did u plug the temp sensor. The only way I’m planning to do it is to remove the original thermostat and use the sensor instead. But it looks like u kept the original thermostat and yet u plugged the sensor somewhere in the water heater…
Great video, but I'm also interested in where the temperature sensor is placed. I have an old vertical style copper geyser and the heater and thermostat are from a side-well. The existing thermostat fits snugly into a thermowell, so there is very little space for both the old thermostat and a new Pt100 three-wire sensor together. Thus, I also believe, only one can be used.
Currently I don't have the temperature module and sensor, and this may need to be ordered overseas (I'm from South Africa). I presume that the temperature module would plug into the serial port of my Shelly 1. It would then be possible to communicate, monitor and control the old geyser without the old thermostat?
Unfortunately, my Shelly 1 only communicates on client mode due to the open Wi-Fi and firewall issues, so it may have to be returned. I also believe real temperature control requires cloud communication (I will discuss this with our local Eset provider, as I'm unhappy with open Wi-Fi). However, if the firewall, temperature module and sensor can be resolved I may still continue with my geyser control project and Shelly. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have.
Can you explain , how do you measure the temperature ? Shelly can monitor only the current ?

if u are talking about feeding excess of PV into the grid, in Portugal we dont get any credit back, so its free energy for the grid basically
