      Fa Neil Fairbrother I'm sorry but is there a scripture where Jesus says He wants people to know like that? I can't think of any, however I can think of many where He says "believe in me" "believe in God" and all that jazz! know what I mean? I don't think it's wrong to say I believe in Jesus Christ, that He is God.

    My whole life I think I've had a strong intellectual, social, and personal basis for Christian faith. Over the last few years I've been losing my social and intellectual bases. I still feel a personal interest and longing for faith, but I find it harder to be convinced intellectually that there is reasonable foundation in/for scripture, and extremely turned off by many Christians in my both my local social sphere, and in the global actions of Christians.

      @@theamalgamut8871 Well, how do you define "Christianity"? Because there is a clear, simple definition in the Bible, and there are also vast numbers of people and organizations that claim to fulfill that definition but don't. I suspect that you've been told about, or have observed, something that is claimed to be Christianity / poses as Christianity but isn't.
      It's crucial to remember that the Biblical definition is all that matters, not what people say. Just me loudly claiming that I'm a brain surgeon, a great musician and a star athlete does not make any of that true 😃

      " That your Faith should not rest in the wisdom of men,but on God's Power", says 1st Corinthians Chapter 2 verse 5.
      The truly biblical Christianity is founded on the power of God. The only explanation for Christ Jesus coming out of the tomb after being dead and buried is God's Power. The miracles Jesus did, opening blind eyes,healing all types of diseases illustrates God's Power.
      Saul who used to persecute and torment early Christians was turned to Paul the Apostle after he encountered the resurrected Christ and knocked off the horse he was riding. It was a powerful experience for him. No one could change Paul's faith in Christ.
      Intellectualism alone cannot change many to follow Christ. Paul said the Gospel is the power of God to those who believe.
      Get to experience the power of the Holy Spirit and nothing can convince you otherwise. Irrespective of other men's conduct. Peace.🕊️

      @@Thomas-og1ro Amen! The entirety of Paul's statement you are referring to is very powerful:
      "And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."
      Here is another statement earlier in the letter along the same line of thought:
      "Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."

      WHEN I WAS STUDYING CHRISTIANITY 42 YEARS BACK. I STUDIED IT THOROUGHLY AND I READ THE
      KING JAMES VERSION AND LATER THE REVISED STANDARD VERSION AND DEBATED SEVERAL CHRISTIAN
      PRIESTS. DURING THAT PERIOD, ONE NIGHT I DREAMT THE POPE VISITED ME AND TOOK ME TO A VERY
      HUGE CHURCH AND TOOK ME TO THE ALTAR AND TOLD THE CONGREGATION "LISTEN TO THIS MAN HE
      HAS SOMETHING TO SAY TO YOU". I GREETED THEM AND STARTED RECITING SURAT AL-IKHLAS " SAY
      THAT GOD IS ONE. GOD IS THE ETERNAL. HE DOES NOT BEGET AND IS NOT BEGOTTEN AND NONE LIKE UNTO HIM ". AND I LEFT THE CHURCH. AFTER THAT I BECAME A STRONGER AND BETTER MUSLIM.
      I SWEAR BY GOD OF ABRAHAM, MOSES, DAVID JESUS AND MUHAMMAD THAT THS HAPPENED TO ME.
      HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT ??

  • @peterblock6964
    @peterblock6964 2 роки тому

    Well. Tim Keller is actually living the "one path among many" life.
    He's listed as a Presbyterian. That's one Christian sect among many Christian sects.
    His comments in this video indicate his choice was based on social considerations.
    He sounds like mental ideas convinced him of Christianity in general,
    and feel good socializing informed his choice of specific sect.
    That isn't exactly a convincing argument for his spiritual choice:
    Neither Christianity as a general religion, nor Presbyterian as a specific sect.
    Roman Catholic Church apologists will say Mr. Keller is NOT a member of Jesus Christ's true church.

    • @turquoiseturtle4938
      @turquoiseturtle4938 8 років тому +5

      It's not ethnocentric in that it doesn't belong to a particular ethnic group. It has its roots in the Middle East though and that should be the lens through which we observe and read scripture. Sometimes the western-Eurocentric mindset forgets this.

    • @amacnaughton85
      @amacnaughton85 8 років тому +1

      No, he was not saying that. He was saying it is ethnocentric for people in the West to be so stung by the Christian claim that there is only one way to God. In other words, that same claim would not offend Muslim, Jewish, or Hindu sensibilities the same way it offends humanistic 20th-21st century Europeans/N. Americans. Muslims for example would agree that there is only one way to know God--they would just disagree on what that way was. They certainly wouldn't be offended that a Christian believed there was only one way. They would simply claim the Christian had the wrong way.

    • @REVKOEHLER
      @REVKOEHLER 8 років тому +1

      What is interesting to me is that every religion but one, depends upon the work of man to obtain something after death. It is here where the offense begins. This is why those under the "coexist" label have no problem with the idea of "one way" because what is really meant is one way for you, and then there is one way for me but, really, like Oprah challenged, "there really cannot be only one way" and in that statement she was only referring to the nature of Christ. The offense continues that there cannot be one way under Grace. Every faith you mention thrives under following the law or the technique or mindset of the idea or the God. Christianity, strips all of that away and although there are people who practice Christianity while still living under the law, this is not the implication of Scripture. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes this abundantly clear. Therefore, under this understanding there really is not agreement of just "one way", because the only unique one way is where God does all the work and His people receive all the reward and it is this way, which is rejected by all the other "one way" ideas.

    • @HuntSD
      @HuntSD 7 років тому

      Doug Koehler And also what's interesting is that every other religion besides Christianity has different authors around a thousand year life span and is still able to keep the story straight and give evidence for it. But every other religion is by one man and has no evidence for it, hmm.....

    Islam is the true religion. Every other religion are just pretty much varients of Islam with the message in their religion becoming corrupt over time. Like in the Bible and the Torah, they are not in its original form today and there are many different versions. For the Quran, its a historical fact that it has never been changed ever since God revealed it the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and this is the last revelation to mankind as a criterion over all religion.

    • @raulhogland7309
      @raulhogland7309 7 років тому +19

      Sam. You need to do your research. The Quran had many pieces that were put together and then edited and the verses that were not as well know were burned to come up with one version. There were at one time over 80 versions of the Quran. Most Arabic scholars will tell you this is the reason it is so hard to read. Over 40 percent is repetitive and 20 percent is unintelligible. This is because it was originally transmitted orally. The Quran is allegedly the first book written in Arabic. So corruption not taking place is a joke to put it politely. And you have it backwards. Islam is like all religions. Trying to gain acceptance or salvation through moral efforts. It is Christianity that stands alone as the only religion that offers grace. God expressly loves us and willing to suffer in our place and take our punishment on himself to save us for himself. This is taught in the Torah and the New Testament by your prophet Jesus and tells us that we must do the same and die for our enemies and love them. The Quran is a giant leap backwards into the typical i am better than you because I do more good than you and i will kill you if you insult my God. If you accept Muhammad as a true prophet you must accept Joseph Smith too. He has the identical claims prophethood as Muhammad. Both are false profits because they deny the other prophets that God has come in the flesh in Jesus Christ. AND teach you can come to god by some means of your efforts.
