    *Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*

    I have this exact chainsaw. We burn firewood for heat during the winter. It is a great saw. Light weight. Never not 1 problem with mine. It cuts line a champ and starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull cold every time.

    Thanks for this - helpful. Just picked up the 14" bar version today having only used other peoples' saws before. Was having a bit of a time figuring out the choke as other videos will recommend you run at half instead of no choke. Great demo and helpful to see it done in its entirety.

    I did just as you showed in the video, and the chain saw worked fine for a bit, but then the chain quit moving so I turned it off, noticed the chain had no oil on it and could see the chain showed heat marks on the chain. Checked the oil and it was still full. So now I have to check the chain off and see if the oiler is plugged or why it is not oiling the chain. This is right out of the box but must have been sitting for awhile as I noticed on the front of the motor, a small metal cover with rivets had small rust on them so I am wondering if Home depot sent me one that had been sitting for some time. Pissed yes, but I may find out what is going on. Not my first rodeo with a chain saw. Thanks good to know that it is an auto oiler as I was looking for a push button to keep it oiled.

    if you mix the gas at 40:1 that means you will have a 40:1 chance of starting it thats why i mix mine at 32:1

    You did not actually have the chain brake off when you started it, so the start was not correct. You really gotta push it towards the handle. If you see the orange thing on the right side of the chain brake it means the chain brake is on. Great video otherwise, I just think it is important to note...

    so do i have to mix the oil with gas before i put it in the tank or like it looks you did oil in one tank .just gas in the other one?

    • @1982rpep
      @1982rpep  7 років тому +3

      I didn't explain that very well. The red fuel can contains one gallon of gas pre-mixed with two cycle engine oil. The oil shown in the video is specifically for lubricating the cutting chain as it passes around the bar.

      This saw doesn't have the power for it. This motor only supports the 14 and 16 inch bar.

    You should get the premix fuel from stores since they don't have the ethanol gas in them.

    • @Zardoch
      @Zardoch 4 роки тому +1

      Ryobi chain saws are usually running way too rich from the factory. You'll have to adjust your carburetor. You need a special screwdriver (pac-man) which you can order online. Lots of videos on UA-cam on the process of how to do it.

      Guess what? I run the Ryobi 3714 daily and run it hard. Felling, bucking and final cut for customer preferences. I push thus saw and it has not failed me nor has it shown ANY signs of doing so. Perform a thorough cleaning and chain sharpening after every use. Do your part and it WILL be there when you need it.
