@@groot3535 American dream means a good job after high school, a house with a backyard, a car and children. This was easy to have when US was at its peak in the 60s and 70s. However, since then due to increased house prices, emergence of other manufacturing destinations, it is not very easy to get a great job straight after high school. But buying a house is still easy.
As a non indian, the reason Bollywood or indian cinema in general came to my attention was Shah Rukh Khan. I remember seeing veer zaara for the first time in 2005, i live in USA so thats why I saw it late. But after that, the whole indian cinema door opened for me. To this day, when you mention Bollywood or India... of course, you get different answers here and there but the most common answer is SRK. All you can do is respect that.

The genius of SRK is yet to be known to people. His contribution to Indian cinema is one of a kind. He has done some pathbreaking work since he became a superstar. If any superstar has taken up challenges and pushed boundaries, broke rules while being at the top, it’s him. And the respect he should get for that is due.
Also, what he did to entertain us, to move us, the way he made us all feel with his acting, by his mere presence on screen. Only a few people have done that.
Yes he is flawed, yes there were controversies, yes he is as human as we all are.
Love him or hate him, but the acknowledgment that he deserves for his contribution to the country and its cinema industry mustn’t be foreshadowed by his human flaws.

I love Shah Rukh as if he were my own son, and I still have a visceral reaction when I see him anywhere. In fact, even I don’t understand it. Can you tell me about his pathbreaking work, challenges, pushed boundaries, broken rules? I don’t know those even tho I’ve read two biographies on him.
One of the things I love about his acting is that it seems to me that he somehow makes each of his leading ladies be in front, perform better, be special, etc. He even makes the other actresses stand out like his mom in Om Shanti Om or Simran’s family in DDLJ. Et alia.

His wins feel like personal wins, his failures feel like personal losses. He has set up the best vfx company in the country, and this contribution to indian cinema is enough to make him a legend. He is the reason why people are so familiar with indian cinema out in the world. I have talked with people from Middle east, NA, South America, Europe. All of them, even if they dont watch Bollywood movies, know the name and the person Shah Rukh Khan! SRK, love you!

I became his fan because of his movies, initially. I was 10 when i fell in love with him. Over the years, I dont know exactly why and how my love for him kept growing. I probably started finding a lot of motivation and inspiration from him as i was passing through different stages in my life. Getting married, getting a job, moving abroad, becoming a mom....with every stage I started loving him more and more. I started finding this amazing positivity in him in this ever changing world. Today, I am happy that his films have done well, but it is not about his films anymore. He is just such a positive force, a symbol of hope and optimism, he is a legend, he is that shining star!

'Om Shanti Om' was my first film in the theatres & that day a 7 year old boy instantly became a fan of a guy, an absolute charmer who could literally speak with his eyes & make us believe that if you passionately desire something, whole universe conspires to deliver that to you!
I have been a die hard SRK fan since I was 8 years old. I am now 31, and although I haven't really appreciated a movie of his since Chak de, I still love this man, im not at all opposed to his superstar status, he deserves it ALL. The manyyyy interviews I have watched since even the early 90's and he's always been such an intelligent, charismatic, well-mannered, and witty man. I love how he views women and respects them, and his perspective on life etc is something I always find contains a lot of wisdom.

I have been a SRK fan since my childhood, my first movie in the theatres was of SRK, and since then there was no looking back, I haven't missed any of his movies, and I would be more than happy to close my eyes for the last time watching a SRK movie❤. Woh sirf star nji Duniya hai meri❤
Ever since childhood, I never knew what a fanship is, whenever I would be asked who your favourite actor or is, by my friends, my lips would never utter a name other than Shahrukh. I remember being criticised for liking him at that very time, when his films started not becoming a hit and there were new actors in the market doing better. An actor whose films I've watched most is Shahrukh. I don't like the every single movie, however he is now focussing more on entertainment and I accept and appreciate him for whatever he is doing is right for him.
I never connected to any bollywood star as much as him, my journey of loving him to liking him, goes exactly same as you Mohak, I somehow related to most of your words. I never show or do anything to prove I'm a fan of somebody, but it is deep down in you, how you understand, appreciate and follow any star as a person.
The present time of Shahrukh, how he is doing, is in front of us that it is less better than the past, but it is not something that should be compared always and put to display. Let that sink in. Good time comes and goes, but the name, the power stays.
Atlast I am really delusional that someday Shahrukh would come and say "Picture to abhi baaki hai mere dost" and the greatest movie of his all times, displays.

I hate introductions. Now think of 11 years 11-year-old boy facing such issues. But then, I got to know that SRK and Hrithik had the same issues. And still, It didn't stop them from conquering the world. And this was when I became a fan of SRK. ❤

After all these years, the first time in my life I am happy that someone shares the same thoughts about SRK as myself. In my 30 years of life I could never relate or talk to anyone about my reasons for not liking shah rukh as a film star but as a humorous charismatic person. Thanks for making my day and people should take lessons not from his films but from him as a person. His sense of humor, his way of interacting with others, his entrepreneurship, his idea of family and on the top of everything how to maintain all these years after years should be learnt from him. I always hated his movies, still do except for one or two but whenever I watched him on some reality show or award show, it always made me awestruck and more respectful towards him. The problem is with idealizing people. Everyone has good and bad qualities. When you idealize someone, you refuse to see any of their bad qualities. Then, when they do something that you can't ignore, the ideal image in your mind shatters and you start to see them as a full-on villain.
The fact is that SRK was always money-motivated. He used to dance at weddings for money, that was a huge controversy in its time. But he also has lots and lots of very good qualities, most of which were outlined in this video. You don't have to see the world like a child who can only think in terms of heroes and villains. You can think like an adult, appreciating a person's good qualities while also acknowledging the bad.
