When it comes to back country walking. I'd take that 44Mag round with me in a revolver anyday over those watered down 10MM that have shown to not be worthy. When it comes to aggressive 2 legged, especially 4 legged creatures, piece of mind is key. Great test as always!
No doubt about it. This .44 mag is no joke.😎👍
🔫... 'Piece' of mind; I agree! 👍
Shit I wouldn’t want to get hit by a nasty underwood, Buffalo Bore or HST 10mm that’s for damn sure those bad boys are nasty Foo!
Those are some Clint Eastwood worthy rounds. I assume the Gel Blocks are not feeling so lucky any more 😅
😂😂😂
@@ToolsandTargets and THIS is why I believe both Hornady and Underwood Ammo has some of the spiciest rounds on the market
🤣
@@josephpacchetti5997 in fact, that reminds me.......
i'm surprised those Lever-Evolution rounds for the .44 Magnum wasn't fired from a Desert Eagle, just to see how "spicy" those cartridges really are. Had tried the 240-grain XTP rounds, which was pretty spicy stuff in of itself and worked rather well.
NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN WATCHING TOOL'S 🇺🇲💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲
Appreciate ya, brother!😎👊
Both the 357 and 44 Mags are serious rounds when loaded nearly to their maximum capability as designed. People just don't know because most commercial ammo is downloaded for various reasons.
Sad, but true.
Most popular 357 mags sold are light and tiny sime smaller than K frame, it is uncomfortable to shoot those with a max 158 and could be dangerous for some to try and the guns get sloppy fast as well as the ferocious muzzle flash and blast to rupture your eardrums out of those popular tiny snubbies.
@@paulscountry456 357 shouldnt be in j frames imo k frame supremacy
@@DasGoodSoup k frame is best for a 22 I have some, most accurate revolver SW ever made , I shoot hottest loads outta my 28 even 180 at 1400 plus is gets back in place fast and is not really that heavy compared to these ridiculous dinosaur revolvers they have today like 500 and 460 in reality my 28 weights a ounce less than my CZ shadow 2 in 9mm.
Brother tools you're the G.O.A.T. when it comes to testing freedom seeds, I have a ton of respect for the work you put in on these videos.
Appreciate you always checkin em out, brother!😎👊
Penetration and expansion, truely wicked rounds. A little deep for self-defense but 2 holes are better than 1. Don't think anyone sucking one up will have much fight left.
Yeah, they got it right with this Lever Evolution line.
For myself I like to see reliable penetration beyond just the basic 12-18 inches in gel with clothing guidelines. That’s a depth they use as minimum performance IMO. Any good 9mm or 380 can do that, both calibers that I do like. But since I prefer larger calibers for carry like 10mm and sometimes 45acp, I expect to see 18-24” of gel with clothing. With a much more Xtreme wound channel of course. That’s why I really like the Underwood Xtreme Defender ammo. It’s truly barrier blind and the most consistently performing ammo I’ve ever seen or tested.
I do have a ton of this Hornady lever gun ammo for my 500 magnum handgun though. (And for my lever guns). It’s pushing serious power out of the 10.5” barrel with the comp.
@@RealtyPro7 In ballistic gel, 12 inches is the minimum, and 18 inches is the maximum. 18 is not the minimum.
@@af7119 Oh I know, I just meant that for me personally I consider that standard range a little low. Meaning a max of 18” is just a tad less than I want for myself. It’s a good general range for most needs, without real barriers. But I like a range of 18”-22”, and don’t mind having some ammo that reaches 24”. Or more if it’s for hunting or bear etc. I’m a long time fan of 10mm when it’s “real” 10mm. My main edc is a G20.
@@af7119 I do also keep ammo on hand that limits penetration in case there is some need. Never hurts to have several types laying around 👍🏽
Double success again my friend. 44 is a great hunting option in revolver or carbine/rifle for sure. The 357 is applicable for self defense, woods protection and even hunting in rifle or revolver within limits. Good stuff. Thank you.😊
Thank you sir. Gotta love a versatile round like these.😎👍
This video is special to me . 43 years of reloading and never had a chronograph. yesterday my new chronograph came . the first two I tried was two Taurus 605 357,a 2 and a 3in barrel. 125 grain sj_hp 1227 _1295 fps. My tracker 44mag 180 xtp 1322 _1352 fps four shot. This bullet is extremely devastating on dear, dog, donkey
Lol. haven't shot anything two legged yet .I think would handle a two legged creature 350 _ 450 very good. Papa wishing you well. 😊
Nice! I know you're gonna get a ton of use from the chrono!😎👍
Wow! I was expecting them to do well but not that good out of a revolver. I wouldn’t hesitate to carry either one of these in the woods. Or for 2 legged critters for that matter. Awesome stuff as always my friend 👍🇺🇸
Thank you sir. I gotta grab more for sure.😎👍
I carried the .357 for CCW. and the .44 is one of my walking in the woods loads. Great test, it is awesome to be able to go back and find all these different load tests. ThanksTools!
2 legged critters!😂🤣 chickens beware! Good video brother! Great rounds! Have to keep that in my memory bank! 👍🏼😎
💥🐓💥 Thank you sir.😎👊
Had fun using these exact rounds to test out my new 44 mag super black hawk with a 7 1/2 inch barrel couple weeks ago. Even fired a few rounds one handed and was grateful there was no pain to my hands or wrists despite how mean the bullet looks.
Yeah, they're some good ones.😎👍
Hornady does make nice stuff can't wait to see
😎👊
That is some solid 44 mag ballistics…
Yeah it is. Very nice energy from a 4 inch revolver.
@@ToolsandTargetsI bet without the porting it would have been very close to right on the money!!!
I tested the hornady lever evolution Out of my s&w model 29-3 44 magnum with its 6 inch barrel, and my 6 shot average velocity was 1483 fps.
😎👊
Knew I was right about those fps ratings from a wheelieboi. Hornady probably made these for someone hunting/hiking with a levergat and backup wheelieboi.
Good job confirming.
Very cool to be able to run a combo with the same ammo and get good results. Thank you sir.😎👊
Could you look up the Winchester platinum tip? It’s like the older black talons but they still make it in 44mag and I think it would be a decent carry and hunting load.
Hmmm, I'll check that out.
Those were very impressive out of the revolvers. I assumed they would do good but they surpassed my expectations a little. Great video as always, brother.
Same here. Great stuff. Thank you sir.😎👊
That 357 is no joke it will make a man behave teal quick. The 44 is just a beast.
@@tonyrebel63I imagine this round would really wake up in my Taurus 608 with an 8 3/8ths inch barrel!!!
That's amazing. I really want expecting them to do all that. Now I wish I still had a Magnum. Some day!
Thank you so much for this one, Sir! You do an excellent job, Tools!
These magnum calibers are too much fun! Thank you sir. Really appreciate that!😎👊
“Best ammo for shooting a hurricane” 🤣
Verified!😆😆😆
My 2 favorite handgun calibers. Rocking the gel-block.
Them Magnums!😎👊
Always a pleasure, thanks for keeping up with the content!
Thanks for watching, as always!😎👊
Glad these things did well out the revolvers to ,this makes this ammo a fairly versatile pick!!!definitely solid hunting rounds for both revolvers and long guns, as long as you stay within their capability ranges!!!
I was thinking the same thing. Nice to have a round that does well in both.
Me and my 6 kids all shoot 357 for white tail deer 🦌 used a lot of ammo and that bullet is only what we shoot in the last 10 or 15 years. Works great, no tracking and low recoil on 6 yr old shooters. Especially when target shooting with 38s.
Nice! 💥🦌💥
Wow I been carrying these in my .357 for a couple years now and I been waiting on a ballistics gel test. Glad you finally got to them Tools great job!
Thank you sir. Great stuff.😎👍
Formidable Rounds For Sure, Thanks Brian. 👍 🇺🇸
Yes indeed. 😎👍
You know what time it is, it's Bleep Bleep that Bleeping wind jelly time.😂🤣 Nice job thanks for all your testing.
You aint wrong!🤣🤣🤣
That 44mag would make an excellent short range whitetail round
💥🦌💥
I really want one of the .44 trackers for my bear/lion gun . That .44 rd was crazy. I would definitely carry it. Great video as always! Thanks for the great information as always.
This one has been great. Only thing I did was swap out the grips for a set of Hogues. Thank you sir.😎👊
Hey Tools would you consider doing a quick lesson video on how you grip a revolver and a semiautomatic. Your accuracy and recoil management even with spicy ammo is superb.
Appreciate that. Don't know that I'm really doing much to give a lesson on though. I just grab it and hang on!😉
Always enthusiastic to see your videos, especially the last one with the manufacturer commenting and watching the test. Keep up the good work and I'll be peeled into to em. 👊
Appreciate that! Lots of good stuff on the way!😎👊
Very interesting video again. I may have to get some more of this ammo. Maybe not the .357 mag because I'm not sure the expansion will be there from my 3" barrel GP100's. Might be interesting to see where the expansion threshold is on the .357 mag. I think most .44 magnum revolvers are 4" or more but shorter .357 magnum are pretty common.
Much thanks for your channel!
Thanks again for checking it out!😎👍
Like the performance of the .357Mag use to carry one for my work sidearm 30+ years ago😀
Nice.😎👊
Good test Tools. Barrel length always makes a difference in pistol and revolvers. Thanks for the video.
Thank you sir. Definitely some good stuff.😎👍
I've been reloading these bullets for my revolvers for a while. Good to see they have great ballistics too. Great video, as always. Keep 'em coming!!!
Thank you sir😎👍
Thank you a lot for this video! Always was curious how theyll perform out of revolvers, im very satisfied with the performance! Hornady knows what they're doing for sure
Great to get good performance out of rifles and handguns with the same ammo.😎👍
Thanks for validating those numbers. Really starting to appreciate the .44 makes me want to add a pistol and Henry side loader to my quiver.
Great rounds for a combo like that.😎👍
Would you get the ported barrel again?
@@angrysheepdog9744 I would but I don't use these for anything but range fun and testing. If I wanted it for home defense or carrying, I would probably rather have non-ported.😎👍
gotta experience those weird weather days so you know how you can handle being in storms and possibly defend oneself
Good job Bryan looking forward to more testing on this stuff in other calibers, maybe some 30-30 and 45 Colt
Thank you sir. Got ya covered.😎👍
WOW! I know what I'd want for a revolver and lever action, that's really impressive on both counts. Thanks for the test.
Would be really handy to be able to run the same ammo in a lever/revolver combo.😎👍
Not many UA-camrs do videos in hurricanes, Nice jobs! Those rounds are proving to be excellent in their design and engineering. For the price difference which is not much, those 44 mag rounds are looking hard to pass up for their performance.
Thank you sir. It was all just CGI!😉
"Revolver evolution time!!!" Thanks for the test. Would it be my first choice in .357 magnum @ 4"? No, but I'd drop them in the charging holes if that's what I had available without so much as a second thought now that I've been privy to this. It's terrific that you demonstrated the feasibility of use with these in guns other than lever rifles.
Thank you sir. Pretty nice to be able to run the same ammo in a lever/revolver combo if needed.😎👍
Awesome video thanks! Been looking at the 44Tracker really like that tool.
Thank you sir. This one has been great.😎👍
Wish I could lose weight that easy! That's some wicked wound channels & penetration. Equal revolvers to compare but that 44 has the power edge. Excellent comparison. Thanks!! 👍 🌟
Yessir. The .44 mag makes a good .357 seem weak.😆
You can, just need to get you up to 1300ft/sec into a jelly contraption! lmao
@@pauldunecatGot up to 1300fps the other day after eating Granny's Texas Red Chili with Habaneros. Good thing the lid was up & seat was down. 😂😂🔥
Thanx T&T. Makes good revolver ammo too. Not just levers.
Yessir
Both rounds really performed great. Great test and was a pleasure to watch. Thanks my friend.
Thank you sir. Appreciate that!
@@ToolsandTargets your welcome 👍👍👍
Go ahead punk make my day LOL, great ammo and great test,
💥😎👊💥
Great video, Love the leverevolution in 357,44, 450 Bushmaster and 45-70.
Thank you sir. You made me a believer of those 45-70. They are my go-to round for when I wanna show someone how strong my BFR is.😎👍
Very impressive results out of those revolvers 👊🇺🇸 Another awesome ammo test Tools 👍!
Yes indeed. Appreciate ya!😎👊
I always enjoy the revolver test. Especially the .357 mag test
Some of the most fun to shoot.😎👍
Always some of the best tests. I'll have to try some of these rounds.
Appreciate you, brother!
I thought the wind was bad but when I saw that 44mag rock Tools back on his heels. "that's some spicy stuff."😆
🤣🤣🤣
Awesome test and results Tools. Good disruption, good expansion and out of sight penetration. Don't find yourself on the receiving end of theses rounds. My only complaint is, and it's not just these rounds, is the listed velocity is out of some weird barrel length. Who goes around caring and 10 inch revolver? Test your rounds from a standard length barrel that most people would carry or use.
Thanks again for all your time and effort Tools.
Be vigilant and always be safe my friend.
I know what you mean. These rounds are great but the marketing, naming, test length, everything about them is just weird.
The most surprising thing for me was the lack of recoil in both revolvers compared to non-ported barrels. Great tests as usual!
Good to know, I can use these in both my JM stamped Marlin model 1894 and my Taurus Tracker, both in 44 Magnum. Thank you!
Yessir. Great stuff for a combo.😎👍
Lever Evolution tested out of 7" & 8" barrels moving at 1440+ on the box causing this kind of chaos, probably over 2000 from an 18" wicked indeed, at least they got these 2 right 😆 Have a good one brother see you on the next one.
Definitely some spicy stuff!😎👍
Love most of the Hornady ammo get some great results.
This Lever Evolution stuff has been really good in every caliber I've shot.
Have been waiting for someone to do a video with these rounds out of a revolver. Great expansion plus speed when one considers the ratings were from much longer barrels. Not sure I'd use one as a home defense round due to over penetration. As always, another fun and interesting video.
Thank you sir. Pretty good stuff from the 4" barrels.😎👍
I’ve had a little CZ 527 chambered in 7.62x39 for quite a while. Using new Lapua brass, a 110 grain Hornady V-Max and 21.5 grains of H110 I can get just under 1 minute of angle. My dies came with both the .308 and .310 rods for the sizing die and I use the .308 expander and it works just great. H110 was a powder originally developed for the M1 carbine before it became popular with the heavy Magnum shooters. It takes to the 7.62x39 like a duck to water. Thanks for another great video!
I'll probably order a set of dies for it too. I usually try to get dies for any caliber I have just in case.
👍👍very impressive rounds Tools……..from both. Appreciate all your test ,even in that terrible wind.
Thank you sir. I managed to get one more in after this one. The wind was brutal.😆
Another great jelly test Brotha , I believe you found me the 357 that I will pick up for my Tracker ..
Thank you sir. This Lever Evolution stuff always seems to do well.😎👍
The lever revolution in my Marlin 336 in 30-30 has been good performers, ironically I just bought a box of 44 mag lever revolution, not sure my Academy has in 357 mag, but need to find some for my revolvers and carbine both I have seen in 45 Colt as well so need to try that in my Vaqueros
I have some in 30-30 that I need to do a video on.😎👍
Thank you for the video. I also live in the mountains in winchester, VA the wind gets WILD often here as well. Especially in the winter or colder months.
Appreciate that. It makes trying to do these videos a headache!😆
Good test , here in Thailand we could use some of your wind . Its been hitting over 40c , & the wind usually stops about noon .
Thanks! I'm sure I'll be begging for some wind soon enough once the heat moves in.😆
Great test! My first impressions of that Lever Evolution AMMO has me cringing thinking of those pointy tips resting on the primers as loaded in a Lever gun...
Thank you sir. That makes things exciting!😂
Very good performance from both rounds. I would use them in either revolver or lever gun.
Thank you for another great video Tools.
Thank you sir.😎👊
Thanks for the great information. I hve no reservations at all about taking either round hunting.
Appreciate you, my friend!😎👊
Awesome performance!!! I'd like to see the Lever Evolution 357 round in the snubbie. If it gets expansion in the 2'' snubbie it still may go deep enough for woods walking
😎👍
I sure like your revolvers very beautiful, I'd like to get that 357 . You always do great testing Buddy, wow bloom We had that heavy wind a few days ago out west , not fun, my arthritis was hurting bad .
Thank you sir. My whole head was wind burned after this day.😆😆😆
Wonderful review dude. Knocking them out!!!!
Thank you sir.😎👊
That’s what I’ve been saying Tools the lead in them bullets is perfect now for expanding out like they’re supposed to
Yessir 😎👍
I enjoy your presentation and direct information on your testing! Keep up the great job! :)
😀
Appreciate that!😎👍
Some really nice performance out of both Rounds Good video Tools Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Thank you as always, my friend!😎👍
"He like it the spicy meatball? Oh yes he does!" lmao
😂😂😂
Amazing ammo. Would love to see a test in 45 Colt lever rifle.
I think I have the ammo, but I need to get me a .45 Colt henry. I think I want to get it in the all weather version since I don't have one yet.
Enjoyed seeing this one Tools ! both rounds are beasts !
Yessir. Magnum goodness!😎👊
Looking to try my cva scout v2 with this 44 mag ammo this deer season I’m thinking the velocity out of the 20” barrel should be impressive. Great video 🇺🇸🇺🇸👍
Thank you sir. Did you see the test I did with these from the Henry's? They were 20" barrels.😎👍
Went prairie dog hunting last weekend in wind like that. Anything past 150 yards was at best just a guessing game. Still got a few though. Wind sucks.
I hate the wind so bad. Worse than any other weather.
Those definitely be great for hunting or woods carrying!👍🏻
💥🐗💥
Did he say spicey 😂😂
Well I just got a box and they was sweating 😂😂😂
Both did absolutely fantastic a perfect self-defense round these will stop any problems you have. Stay Safe and God Bless 🙏🙏
Yes indeed!😎👊
Wife worked for a mold injection company that made the inserts for Horniday. We live near the Horniday Manufacturer. Try same projectile but pull the insert out. Its a gimmick
Yeah, I've never had any faith that any of these inserts from any company did anything. As a matter of fact, I'm convinced that they have done just the opposite of what they claim to do on a couple of my tests. This is just the result of magnum speed and power on this test.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets the defense special 165 🤔🤷♂️😁
I would have thought the advantage was in external ballistics and not terminal ballistics.
Two beastly loads. Major wound channels. Two more shots and your fresh jelly block is full. 😆 Really liking what this brand is bringing. 👍🇺🇸👊
Yessir. Big bang for your buck with these.
Great content Tools
Thank you sir.😎👊
Revolution 😁 Those did a very nice job out of the revolvers. I may look into these for my GP100. 🙂👍
Yessir.😎👊
You had me at Hornady. Nice performance our of a handgun. I don't think I'd use them in a carry gun but maybe a home defense gun. I need to add a 44 magnum to my hand cannon collection.
I really need to get at least one more .44 Mag handgun.
@@ToolsandTargets I'll probably get a Taurus 44 with a 6.5 inch barrel
Great video. As far as should you use a clothes barrier or not. My thoughts are since I have never seen a 4 legged game animinal or a 2 legged attacker without skin or clothes respectively I would keep the clothes barrier.
I just got a box for 30$. Neat round hope I can get some more. I have been running the 255gr Keith for the last year. But these are cheap for now lol. Good anti personal round
Excellent test

Another great video brother
Great work tools!
Thank you sir. Appreciate that!😎👊
Yeah Baby looking good!! Nice test good on ya 😉
😎👊
Looks like a calm day in NW Oklahoma..
Awesome! Wonder if they make it in other calibers and what they would test like out of rifles and revolvers, like 45 lc and 327 mag?
They do make them in quite a few more calibers. I have some more that I can test.😎👍
Great video love 357, I hate strong winds nearly killed me these desert winds on my motorbike, one time in Vantage in the desert it was 109 with 60 mph gusts and the film on my eyes would evaporate off an look very frightening, trees can kill, Cottonwood should never be trusted...lol.
😆😆😆 It sucks. Appreciate ya!
Those are hunting rounds for sure not meant for point blank defence shooting but of course would work decent.
I love the .44 mag content!! Thanks for what you do man!
Appreciate that. Gotta get me an 8 inch Anaconda for the collection!😎👊
@@ToolsandTargets that would be sick! I have the tracker just like yours but in the brushed stainless. I absolutely love it! I picked some of this lever evolution ammo today so I’m glad to see it good to go. I also grabbed a few boxes of the Winchester big bore 240gr so hoping it’s good to.
@Tools&Targets I've been looking at those too ever since I saw buffalo bore approved them for their hot rounds.
Excellent! Loved the 44. Did you ever test the Hornaday 45acp Critical Duty vs Critical Defense? I will search but thought I would ask.
Thank you sir. I don't know that I have compared those directly, but I can put that on the list.😎👍
@Tools&Targets oh you don't have to. I saw the Critical Defense performance and the Critical Duty. I will stick with my Critical Duty 220+P. Thank you again sir. Will let you know when my Nighthawk Custom 45 GRP Recon comes in. If you would like to try it.
