That dark blue PRS plugged into the Two-Rock under the command of Baxter's fingers was just DIVINE. The 594 I played at the area Guitar Denter back in June still haunts my dreams. It might be time for a road trip.
I have the 58/15 LT bridge pup in my PRS Studio. Love it. Even my wife noticed how good that pup sounds. I really like the single-coil-ish sounds from the narrowfield pups on the middle and neck too. I didn't plan on spending north of $4K on a guitar, but the sound made me do it.
Great playing, Baxter. They are beautiful guitars, although I've actually never played one, but every PRS I've played has been good, so I should try one.
I own LPs, a Strat, Teles, and a few PRS…2 Core-the Hollow Body II and the McCarty 594….I LOVE the McCarty….I play that and my Tele thin line the most…the Myles Kennedy signature is also a go to for me…not sure why there is any debate…I think Paul makes beautiful sounding, looking, and feeling guitars…
I have a fat strat with a push/pull on the humbucker. I think it’s nice either way. My only gripe is that the humbucker with middle pup sounds like garbage, but does sound good together with the split humbucker
Really inspiring playing, Baxter. 😎 A core model is out of my price range at the moment, but the SE models look very tempting. How well do the SE pickups compare to the US originals?
To me, PRS has the manufacturing down to a science. All of their necks are perfect, regardless of the style. I know if I pick up a PRS, the neck is going to feel exactly like it’s supposed to. Some people see this as a negative as they don’t each have their own characteristics or feel. Personally I like the consistency. I’ve had several SE models and have either returned them or sold them. They all had the same issue, the pickups sounded flat and dead to me. I finally got one that sounds good (to me of course). It is the Swamp Ash Special. That guitar sounds awesome. A week or so ago I bought the SE 594 and boom, there were the dead sounding pickups again. Also the set up was horrible. The intonation was off and the strings were not even remotely close to the fretboard. Obviously, that guitar is being returned, because of the pickups, not because of the setup. I think I’m going to bite the bullet and grab a core model. The 594 single cut is a beautiful guitar!
Nothing wrong with that at all! 90% of the time I’m playing my 2014 PRS S2 semi hollow. Everything about it just fits with me. PRS makes a great guitar.
McCarty 594 is my all time favorite model of any brand. I have two 2021 Core 594s. A wood library DC and a SC from Casino (2nd owner). If you are a classic rock fan, you owe it to yourself to at least try one, Core, S2 or SE.
I think a lot more players would use the push/pull feature if it were marketed as a "2nd Voice" instead of a "Coil Split". A split or tapped humbucker will NEVER sound like a single coil pickup, it just doesn't work like that though by name it sounds like it should work like that. Players get angry when their LP doesn't sound like a Telecaster and poo-poo the feature entirely. I like the sound of 58/15 LT tapped once I disabused myself of the "Single Coil" expectation.
I have a fat strat that sounds pretty nice with the humbucker split. The only problem I have with it is that the humbucker and middle sound awful together, in 2nd position. Eventually I’ll rewire it so that 2 is the humbucker and neck, and hoping that gets me close to middle position on a tele; it’s gotta be better than the mudfest that it is currently
@@honkytonkinson9787 Maybe try a RWRP middle pickup? Try flipping the current one backwards? Don't know if those will help your situation, but it's a place to start.
@@honkytonkinson9787 If you have enough wire, just spin it around and put the screws back in. Can't promise it will solve your problem, but it's free and only takes a couple minutes to try.
The PRS "McCarty 594" came out in 2016. The PRS "McCarty" came out in 1994. Two different models. They still make both. the "McCarty" has a 'Pattern' neck profile and has a stop tail bridge. The 'McCarty 594" comes with a tune-o-Matic style bridge and has the 'pattern vintage' neck.
@@CasinoGuitars They didnt do themselves any favors with using the mccarty name so much. its even the name of one of their finishes. Searching for these on reverb is a pain.
@@seanbrooks2583PRS could use work on their names. All their neck profiles starting with the word "Pattern" is very confusing. Pattern and Pattern Thin kind make sense, until you get to Pattern Regular, which is very different than both of them. And then don't forget Pattern Vintage!

I have a CS Strat and a Tele, I cherish both. But if I want to really play my absolute best I reach for my Custom 24. Jonathan please don't expose me!!
So were I to purchase a PRS, and I could only have one PRS, and I have a collection including several Fenders and Gibsons of different variations- would I go with a Custom 24 or the 594?
I have an s2 594 it has an awesome growl but the short scale isn’t for me and I love having a bar. But it sounds amazing and I love the 4 knobs vs my ce24. But the upper fret access isn’t good enough for me.
Baxter, don't go to the dark side! but seriously I am one that just cannot get into PRS guitars..I am a Fender fanboy too. I dont think I could even own a Silver Sky! so weird and I don't like what that says about me,.lol
Think of it as function over form. It’s a very practical shape and provides nearly straight string pull, giving better tuning stability than other, more aesthetically pleasing designs. Can’t really see it while you’re playing anyhow 😜 😅
I just cant imagine being seen playing a PRS. They've got a very troubling connotation that I don't want to be associated with, regardless of if they play and sound good.
Thanks! These early morning videos have been good to me.
I've just got a 2000 McCarty. Not a 594 but I love it & can easily see why PRS is so praised.
Congrats and wow!
It's Baxter that is the Secret Weapon, although the 594 helps him express himself
Ohhhh, I like that...well said and thank you:)
I tried a PRS Vela once. So far that’s my favorite PRS model. Felt nice.
It's the most versatile 6 pound guitar on the market today. I love mine!
Nice choice!
I really dig the prs single cuts. Doubles look cool but those single cuts make me happy. :)
Very cool point chaffy!
I only have the SE version but I love my 594 singlecut. The neck is fantastic and the low turn pickups are great. It’s become my favorite guitar.
Those are great pieces as well!
It's OK, Baxter, you can like whatever you like - and, as usual, you explain the passion very well! Thanks!
I haven’t played a 594 but I have a McCarty from 2000 with a hard tail, 10 top, and Birds and it’s a ridiculously good guitar.

I have been quite happy with my S2 594 doublecut! It's become my main :) Great playing Baxter!
My 594 single cut is always the one I come back to, in a collection of +20. I play it and every time think “there is no better guitar “
Great playing, Baxter. They are beautiful guitars, although I've actually never played one, but every PRS I've played has been good, so I should try one.
For sure give one a shot and thank you!
Glad to see the counseling session went well 😂🤘🎸🔥

You mean these men that work at a guitar store are trying to sell guitars? On the internet? Well I never!
If im spending 4-5 grand for a guitar, its gonna be a Gibson Les Paul custom.
Fools, Paul did not design the guitar. He owns the company!
