    Wow! I've always wanted to visit the USA, and it would be almost worth the airfare just to sit in that room and try those amps! The genuine care and affection for Dumble and his legacy is clear in those he entrusted with his legacy. It would be really cool if Casino Guitars could play a part in selling the new amps (and other products?) that they make to ensure his IP remains protected. An official Dumble pedal could be pure gold.

    What a strange, peculiar and fascinating legacy this guy created. Had he been less of a reclusive and dare I say savant-like personality, he could’ve probably changed the course of American amp design and production as we know it. Guess we’ll never know but cheers to the people trying to keep his legacy alive. Hope it doesn’t get exploited.

    It's really cool that people are trying to protect Dumble's legacy, but the idea of building new amps with the Dumble name sounds like a really delicate situation. Had he trained a protege that could take over, that would be one thing, but it seems like Mr. Dumble took a lot of his craft to the grave with him. There are a lot of companies that can build a 1:1 clone of a specific Dumble amp serial; what sets the originals apart from the clones is that each amp was voiced differently for the player. How do you recreate that part of the experience going forward?

    Since they don't really know how to build amps, nor are they scaled up to manufacture, they should partner with an existing builder (like Fuchs, 2 Rock or Amplified Nation) and license the design and badging.

    I've played a few Dumbles over the years. I love the OD tones but the cleans kind of leave me cold. It's difficult to dial out the heavy mids. Definitely not the clean that players who play Fender blackface amps are used to. In a perfect world I'd have an amp with Dumble OD and Two Rock cleans.

    I completely respect Dumble as an idiosyncratic artist who might not have thought much of people copying his work, but I hope that the team managing his estate takes a more flexible approach to enforcing the trademark. Sure there are a bunch of bad actors out there like the British Pedal Company folks who tried to get out a bunch of pedals out, in addition to actual fakes, it's so cool that these guys help to police fakes so that buyers don't get hurt. Realistically, I think there's a place for Fuchs and Amplified Nation and pedal companies like Ethos who play with the trade dress respectfully. Dumbles will never be available for all players, even those who can afford something like an Amplified Nation which is priced appropriately as a boutique tube amp.

      Someone once explained it as them being "hifi enough and voiced so that anyone but the most honest player is going to sound sort of sterile and dull". You have to have a skill that plays to such an amp. Unfortunately my skill and budget play to far less.

    • @roycedot
      @roycedot 19 хвилин тому

      If you play guitar, there are some of his amps you would love. He made such a variety. From the 300 w pristine clean Dumbleland, to 25 watt Hotel Hog, to re-built blackface and tweed Fender's and Marshall's, to the cascading gain ODS amps he's most well known for - each ODS build being at least slightly different.

  • @APMTenants
    @APMTenants День тому +2

    Dumble used to spend a lot of time vanity searching his name on EBay, in a effort to suspend the accounts of musicians who sold used Dumble inspired pedals by abusing the VERO system. Not the manufacturers, because they could fight back. No, he would attack musicians for selling their own used gear. This is what he meant by “churls,” I exposed him for this in gear forums, and I’m sure it hurt his reputation as a person, even if it didn’t hurt his bottom line. If you continue that practice, I will come for you.

      I had never heard of this so not really sure it "hurt his reputation as a person". Also, his reputation never was as a pleasant, friendly person. What forums did you expose this in? I'd like to read them - not being sarcastic.

    I know that Dumble amps are highly praised and fetch huge prices, I understand how they want to protect his intellectual property, but I think we have a small problem here. Dumble is not the guy who made the first amplifier in the world. He also worked on Fender and Marshall amps and added his own innovations and made his own loops with wire circuits, like many other famous guitar amp manufacturers and there are a lot of them today, so it's not easy to make a judgment about all of this. Let's say if you have a Fender amp that Dumble changed and you have the same amplifier but which is completely original, if you were to buy it, get all the components and use the same wire circuit as Dumble, then by all means it should work the same or very similar, now here we come to whether it is copyright infringement or whatever you want to call it, I don't know, in the end it all revolves around money, unfortunately Dumble passed away too early and he was a real genius and people always want to make something like their idol or maybe even better ,honestly, in the end, very few people will know or see if Joe Binamassa uses a Dumble or some other amplifier, and we all know that besides Dumble he uses others, so it all comes down to prestige among guitarists, and for us mortals, the only thing that matters is that we enjoy playing well, but as I said, guitarists certainly don't think that equipment and amplifiers play a big role, and if it contributes to their better playing and feeling, then that should be applauded.
    RIP Dumble 🙏

    • @rooster4906
      @rooster4906 День тому

      How many great legendary Blues guitarists used Dumble amps, how many great guitarists and great rock n roll bands who recorded top albums that make me love rock n roll and that sound used Dumble amps, very very few and yet they are legendary albums and the sound is exactly as it should be, I don't want to diminish the importance or value of Dumble amps in the slightest, I'm just saying it like it is, and even today you have top guitarists and bands who create top music and sound fantastic but don't use Dumble amps, of course amplifiers, equipment and guitars are important but for me the most important thing is the man and his magic fingers, the man is the guitarist and then the amplifiers and the rest

    • @roycedot
      @roycedot 37 хвилин тому

      "Let's say if you have a Fender amp that Dumble changed and you have the same amplifier but which is completely original, if you were to buy it, get all the components and use the same wire circuit as Dumble, then by all means it should work the same or very similar" - the thing is, Dumble couldn't even clone his own Dumble's. He tried to make a backup of Robben Ford's amp that he built but Robben said it didn't sound the same. So, no - it's not easy to clone Dumble's. MANY have tried. I think Quinn and Bludotone have evolved beyond Dumble (Quinn stopped making amps) by offering more features within the same amp.
