Hermitcraft 10: Po Po Permit Purr Purr | Episode 14

- In this episode of Hermitcraft, I dive right into making my very own Chorus plant farm, but not without some extra visits from the Po Po for the Permit office and GeminiTay. Some good fun moments are had, and we grab an unsuspecting RenDog for our base tour who delivers some good, hard feedback.

If the poe-poe do decide that your vehicles are popups rather than permanent shops you can always move them to the permit office car park.
This is actually witty 😂
This. Absolutely do this.
like food trucks.
Make sure you put a "Back in 5 minutes" sign up as well.
Or add a clamp aka a boot to a wheel?
Gem: Who buys all the Pickels?
Tango: Who buys all the Daylight Detectors?
I think Tango knew, he was considering not selling any until someone in his stream chat said Pearl would buy them. I see she has.
Impulse has been buying them (the daylight detectors) too!
Ren: Who buys all the beacons?
Pearl: MOI :D
"There's another pair of glass- are you wearing double sunglasses?"
"The crime on this server shines bright, Pearl.."
very smooth response by Scar there lol
Enjoyed the honest Ren feedback. Giving and accepting critiques is not always easy and Pearl and Ren did a great job talking through it.
It's so important to get more perspectives!
It's so great. Hearing someone give honest (and creation-focused) feedback, and having that feedback being accepted.
both without getting ego in the way... It's impressive. And it's really helpful to calibrate that for my brain. Knowing what's good feedback is one thing. Being able to see it in action: so valuable.
@@PearlescentMoon It felt to me like Bdubs' latest "Revolutionizing Building?" episode was him trying to push the boundaries to see if he could get someone to say something critical and he's just so damn good and out there that ppl were like "nope this tracks and i love it".
It's basically right there in the title like he doesn't know if it's too far as far as abstract perception goes or if it works and ppl just get it right off the rip.
I know ppl talk him up a lot but it's hard to articulate why he's so good, afaic it's cuz it's such a weird phenomenon where the line blurs between objective skill and subjective opinion and Bdubs is somehow always right on top of it (if not juuust poking his toe over the line lol)
Seems like almost anybody else could try and do that same thing and it'd turn out horrible but Bdubs has so many tiny attention to detail elements that tie everything together into one cohesive unit that the whole just becomes greater than the sum of it's parts if that makes sense...
Like when you first look at that log cabin it almost looks like an abomination...the stark contrast and weird use of various blocks...but then the mind quickly adapts and you're like "oh, i get it. That's the chinking, and this represents that weird rustic aesthetic like the way some backwoods carpenter would need to shape just some of the logs or only the flat bottom sections removing the bark with a draw knife creating the contrast between the bark and the sapwood!"...and all of a sudden it just clicks and works.
Most ppl wouldn't even try to represent that stuff or think of it with that level of focus on the minutia but Bdubs just has that artist brain that goes "well this is what i wanna do and this is all i have to work with so the question now is what can i get away with when it comes to the general audience and more importantly how far can i push it before the subjective perception/suspension of disbelief collapses entirely?"
Like that weird little waterfall that he did so it looks just like a painting out of the corner of your eye when you are entering his little forest there. Who tf does that?! Who even thinks like that or would try to represent that in a weird pixelated block game where at first glance any sane person would assume it impossible (not a dig as there is as fine a line between genius and insanity as there is objective fact and subjective opinion)
Anyway didn't mean to go on a long rant S'ing Bdubs' figurative D so to speak but i thought it relevant to the conversation at hand. If everyone is so focused on being nice to the point that it makes them lie it's not really nice is it? That's how echo chambers are formed and why we get rich and famous elites that are so up their own A's they don't know scat from spackle so to speak (sorry Pearl, trying to keep it as PG as i can but it's not my first instinct let alone my forte lol)
When i was in the army we had a saying: "Embrace the suck". Nothing is ever perfect or ideal. One needs to have the mental fortitude to embrace hardship, perceived negativity or unpleasant realities so they can adapt and overcome. That's what makes you better and stronger than you were prior. Ppl need self awareness and personal responsibility to grow and change for the better. No one wants to talk about vulnerability, no one wants to do vulnerability; but the truth is we NEED exactly that and if ppl don't like it well, the world just doesn't care...and that's perfectly okay and how it should be.
Pressure creates diamonds. "Hard times create strong men (and women). Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men and weak men create hard times." --G. Michael Hopf
We as a society are currently at the end/beginning of that quote. It can only get better from here.
Learning how to humbly accept and give constructive criticism devoid of ego and bias is a difficult skill to master. The Hermits are very mature and good natured, able to give and receive feedback with grace. They’re such good role models in the MC space and I love their increased involvement in MCC this season. So looking forward to seeing them participate.
I love the genuine confusion in Pearl's voice when she reads, "Dear Horse."
I cringed.
I'm glad she figured out what the deal was, but Ren should know better.
I was even more confused for a split second
0:30 :)
@@GSBarlevwhy did ren call pearl differently?
@@alcyonae Ren wasn't calling Pearl anything. He and False were writing to the Post Office mascot.
"The horse is a picture of a stamp" 0:38
I english very well
This 😂 I had to scroll back to make sure I heard it right 😂 I love pearl so much
And I didn’t even notice it 😂
@@PearlescentMoon😂
@@QuestererNeither did I.
"BECAUSE I NEED PICKLES GEM" needs to be a new horn
I made the same comment but didn’t see yours unfortunately. Another funny ish horn idea would be Ren saying “you press a button and BEEP, you press another and BEEPBEEP” lol
ren: *offers super honest, precise, constructive (and super polite) feedback*
also ren: "i feel awful"
7:56 The whole compliance bit on the Cub rule was so hilarious lol.
9:54 Especially when Scar himself suggested the 'perfect' location. It pretty much completed the bit 😂
Do you know why they're calling it the Cub rule?
I'm relatively new to Hermitcraft, and I know that Cub is another hermit, but was he the one who started putting those in his shops in previous seasons?
@@cornwizzle I read in some comments before that in one of the previous sesons he demanded that everyone put a chest in their shop and then someone (king Ren maybe? I don't know the season) made it oficial.
Therefore: The Cub rule.
@@cornwizzlehistorically, or at least in s8, if a shop didn’t have an enderchest when cub went to shop there he set it on fire in retaliation. with that in mind I like to think of the cub rule as less of a rule and more a warning
It came from season 7 of Hermitcraft, when Scar was Mayor. He hired Cub as his enforcement, essentially he was Scar's Poe Poe, and one of Cub's rules that he enforced was that every shop in the shopping district needed its own ender chest
With all her car theme shops, Pearl could just make a shop that’s just a parking lot
Like food truck spot but with literally anything but food!
I like this idea.
I made a Town on the server I am on. It's underwater domes, and in one I have 12 shops made to look like food vans. Each are a different colour, with side counters and glass panes to look like neon signs on the rooves. Would be a cool idea for Pearl to do this too.
Good idea
Murrica!!
Like a farmer's market
The Hermit-tours arr a great concept. I always like when you guys critique each others builds, face to face,. The normal interaction is usually some hermit spotting a new build, shouting "Oops, spoilers!" and run the other way. If we're lucky, maybe a flyby "That's cool!". I really would like to have guided tours like that to be a server-wide regular thing.
You should put a horse behind the desk at the post office! Their can be no horsing around when it comes to properly looking after the post office
Can confirm-horses behind desks is a very good effect. The elected leader of my base is *The Mare.*
She's facing some stiff competition this november from progressive stalwart *Elizabeth Warden.*
There is alreadly a mule in the service of the post office, i think mail mule should be moved to the reception desk, especially when now all the mail boxes have been installed
Pearl watches Gem racing up and down her own roof: "Standing still is not your forte."
and accurate as Skizz also noted this in the Life series :D.
+Mumbo Jumbo
@@LinsteadDM "That lady can move! This is Gem when she's in her creative space:" _boing boing boing_
16:10 "Cat. Where's your mother?" This gets me for a reason.
she was so expressive with it! lul
Why? Are you adopted?
Jk lol😂
The "I NEED PICKLES GEM" gives me the cho cho charles pickle lady vibes! LOVE IT!
PICKLES
And you find her diary it's nothing but Pickles written
yes Grian should've sold pickles this season instead of season 6
I was about to write this comment. I am glad someone else had the same thought as I did :D
I guess this explains how the Pickle lady became to be
"You forgot the PICKLES!"
The amount of unrequited love letters going through the mail is hilarious.
I love the malicious compliance, I died from laughter
The Australian came out of her to take the piss haha
It's even funnier because normally Scar is the one trolling everybody, and the only way he could deal with being trolled was to join in...so hard to be one of the rule-keepers when you're normally the one breaking them! Poor Scar 😅
Pearl, you can never let the other Hermits know the Mail Mare isn't real. You need to let them believe. You could put in one of those berry-bush holding pins, hide under it, and let the other's come meet the Mail Mare. It's like a mall santa claus.
You should've sent Ren and False a book with the only word: "Neigh!" in it! Let them think that the Post Office is really run by horses in the background. :D
I love the malicious compliance with the Poe Poe. In addition your custom trees are awesome. I never thought of using Pickles in such a way.
Love the trolling of the Cub rule!!!
I also love how this season it seems that Hermits are actually providing constructive criticism and listening to each other, showing younger audience members that it's OK if someone thinks something different and maybe you can learn from a new perspective!
Thank you Pearl for being an inspiration
two words: malicious compliance
why u a member
@@Mismatched2
i get a little silly
Resistance
Why bother with that when you can just not comply at all?
I do love that malicious compliance can mean both the resistance to a bureaucracy from its members and those it serves.
"I NEED PICKLES!!!" Has got to become a recurring joke, just imagine Pearl popping out of nowhere and appearing in random places yelling about how badly she needs pickles
The Hermit Tours are a great little addition. They really help you digest all the creativity that goes into a 1minute time lapse.
Feels a lot like something City Planner Plays does in his videos
Oh Ren’s idea of bending the trees tops for the wind is so clever!
That turbines are looking like they come from the movie ''Big Hero 6'' 🤩
Listen I was thinking that as soon as I saw them 🤩😍
I love that they're white 🤍 because it contrasts better with the Lovely colorful base.
And I also love Big hero 6 😄
Yeah!!
pearl following the law according to how it was told is amazing. find all the loopholes pearl
"There no diamond throne! You sit on a field of lies." 😂 love that throwback
I love that Scar immediately started helping Pearl with malicious compliance
I ADORE the windmill blimps and I desire MORE. I can just see HUGE colorful windmill blimps dotting the sky! PERFECT solarpunk detail that would give the base more height and movement (illusion of movement at least lol) and life!
I love that everyone on the Hermitcraft server are clearly friends even outside of the server it makes for so many fun moments plus you don’t ever have to worry about genuine drama
You are doing a great job Pearl and as a landscaper i agree with Ren about the pur pur plants. If you turn the in to bushes down there and place just the flowers on them then that will still show them off while tying them into your landscape.
Or moving them closer to the farm and hiding the end stone with the dirt and some leaves around the bottom as it’s more the end stone that just pops to much. Though the bush idea I think you did a great job with on top of the farm so that would be my first pick.
Keep up the great work.
The horse poetry WAS adorable, love that
Scar saying "The crime on this server shines bright" to him having double glasses is such a HARD quote
Tango was also wondering why his daylight sensors, hrm, solar panels were running out of stock too haha
12:29 IT WAS YOOUU, YOU'RE THE PICKLE PICKER!!
Purpur Pearl's a pickle picker?
picked pickles plucked by purpur pearl became a pickle picker
@@Anticaat xD
pearl is the definition of "malicious compliance" with the ender chests lol
The idea by ren for making the trees bend is a really good idea
that one sheep spinning in a circle on the mountain for the whole timelapse tho
The buttons for the purpur farm should be accessible from inside the farm - or from a viewing platform. Pearl hopping to watch Gem and Ren get skewered with arrow was hilarious
OCD Pearl when Gem flips trap doors:
*Whispers softly* "Don't..."
Wait she has ocd? Didnt even notice that since i found her channel a week ago😂
I love the solution the the Cub Rule! It seems very much in the spirit of the permit office. I don't see how Grian could object.
"Because I need pickles Gem!"
"Excusez moi!?" Pearl speaking french is amazing ngl
The ceiling being so low over the arrow dispensers must make refilling them a major pain!
You might add a third button to the Chorus farm to release water to collect all the drops into a central spot.
Button 1: Fire arrows, break fruit
Button 2: Break stalks
Button 3: Wash clean
Adds to the ‘factory’ feeling Rendog was talking about.
The horse is a picture of a stamp. Love that slip up.
Change the image of the stamp to look like a horse with a stamp on its side.
Or you could nounify the pronoun, meaning ' "The Horse" is a picture of a stamp.' Same meaning but gives more of the intended direction. This sentence out of context however implies the opposite case.
It got too real when Cop scar tried to unjustly abuse his power.
😭
Rens feedback was actually really good, I really enjoyed the tour. I’d say add some texture on the inside purpur walls in the farm
Absolutely! I forgot to mention it in the video, but I'll be using some copper as texture gradients for the interior to transition the purpur ^-^
@@PearlescentMoon awesome!!
A redstone torch on the top of your Wind Turbine Kites might add an extra detail as a night warning light. If you fully stock your dispensers with arrows, you'll have 576 uses of your farm before you need to restock, so I probably wouldn't worry too much about automating it. Love the idea of using dispensers to shoot arrows to harvest Purpur flowers, I'm gonna try something in my world along that idea! I've got at least 20 chests of arrows and that seems like a great use.
Pearl's base also looks modular like a lot of lego sets are in recent years
I think a custom cherry grove/park with a big wind turbine with attached solar panels in the middle of the grove would fit perfectly on the top of the hill!
First! I love pearl sm, I love how even if the hermits don’t know it’s hers they can tell from the building style, and the note at the beginning was adorable.
7:48
Hehe love an ‘under the table’ deal
8:28
“Don’t open a crack in my bone shop” oh god

Poor scar to be honest lol
11:32

Pearl should name the shop as pur pur by pearl like some luxury brand ❤❤
15 secs… smh… I don’t have a problem 😂
Me neither
I do, what are you people talking about?
first time I actually have popcorn when Peal said to "gab that popcorn" underrated snack honestly :p
i utterly adore how even your farms are in the theme of solarpunk with reusable arrows. after learning about your theme i was mulling over how one Would do solarpunk in minecraft and whether it would be more of an aesthetic thing in which you build things that look solarpunk (understandable, it is buildy minecraft after all) or a following of the ideals of solarpunk *in* a minecraft world by actually combining how you engage with the natural world and resources of minecraft with things like reusing, recycling, not taking the resources you get for granted or excess and such. this is a really cool base, pearl
It's always a good day when Pearl uploads. Even when I have an AP test this morning...
Good Luck!
@@Byebyeyoucreeps thank you. Goof luck if you have any.

@@why3994 advanced placement test, but yes, that could work
The wind kites should be much higher where the wind is. Great idea. And beautiful
23:05 I love the bdoubleo effect 😊
“Oh this looks nice”
“Yeah I wanted to be like Bdubs”
There’s so many great builders among the hermits. But Bdubs Keralis Gem and Pearl. Really feel like they capture the emotion of the build.
Scar's line "The crime on this server shines bright Pearl." goes so hard
Impressed with your self-made redstone! Tango's starting to rub off a bit. Really cool to see you branching out and learning new things. I think it would be really cool to see you connect the two systems so you only push one button. Not because it is cooler or more fun, but to show yourself that you can figure out the technical details!
"Hello, and welcome to Standing Up School."
13:45
"Aaaaaand you failed."
I do get where Ren is coming from with the chorus flowers. Due to the limited options we have in the game for purple shades, chorus and purpur are *tough* to work into a build palette. It would be helpful to have a wider variety for that. Maybe we'll get some nice purple wood eventually?
That was the BEST malicious compliance, fantastic, 10/10, no notes, complaints cannot be had there are in fact end chests in the shop
I agree with Ren about the lower chorus plants. However, I think the bendy trees would be really hard to pull off and probably not worth it.
0:39 "The horse is a picture of a stamp."
Perfect explanation! 😂
34:00 They're just called "airborne wind turbines."
The idea behind them is wind close to the ground suffers from drag and turbulence, so wind is usually faster at higher altitudes, which is why they're designed to fly - to get the wind turbine up to those higher altitudes with minimal infrastructure. Ultimately it's just for aesthetics, so what I'm about to say doesn't really matter, but those turbines would be flying very low if they were real. Ideally they'd be floated above the tree-line (probably even above the mountain top) to make full use of the wind. The trees in particular would cause a lot of that turbulence that reduces airflow.
You could always add bushes with the chorus flowers down by the path similar to the one on the roof if you do decide to change it
I would love to see a collaborative build with you and Beans. Both of your builds are so colourful and beautiful, and I'd love to see what you could both do together
"Don't open a crack in my bone shop."...wise words, Pearl, wise words.
The Pearl and gem interaction had me rolling 🤣 I love these two
Woo!! A pearl episode to watch as I'm doing hermitaday drawings!!
I feel like it would be cool if you added a barren or toxic area apart from the solarpunk, to give it some contrast and maybe the idea that the base is reclaiming the land and bringing back that lush green vibe. Idk could add a little story to the structure and I think the base needs a certain contrast.
Skulk would be great for the “toxic” area, since the colors contrast so much with the current palette
might be a good idea when linking up to tangos area as steampunk is much less plant friendly in concept. Ofc that would be a conversation between pearl and tango, but it is an idea!
I think Ren's base has that aspect covered.
Pearl said "come back with a warrant" and I love her for it
I'm with Ren, I love these types of farms where they still require you to do something but are ultimately making the job easier than if you were to do it completely manually. I think it fits the solarpunk theme well too, since that way you're a lot less likely to create far more than you need, since you still have to do it yourself to a degree
An idea: It would be cool to add in the background of the chorus farm like a run down (maybe old) windmill just to kind of give the feel of maybe it powered the chorus farm from years ago and since it's old and run down now, you switched to the flying windmills.
Love the additions. You could consider moveing the wind engergy thingies up, maybe 40-50 blocks?
Would be more realistic and you would not need to bend the trees. Maybe you can test in creative, but I think this would give your base a more characteristic design (and put solal pannels on top of the wind thingies).
Pearl and Gem playing hide and seek was something I didn’t know I needed, but I’m so glad they did. So cute!
29:16 okay think about this! There could be a THIRD button that unleashes water into one space, and that puts all the items in a chest near the buttons!
False and Gem doing redstone together just both of them. This season truly is wonderful.
False?
I was surprised that an ender chest didn't find it's way into a barrel, actually.
"You sit on a field of lies" WHAT A GOOD QUOTE
I love you messing with Scar. Malicious compliance is awesome.
Depression has been kicking my ass and suddenly I feel hope and joy :) nothing like a pearl video to spark creativity!
the flying windmills or air turbines are awesome, love them.
Gem's not the only one who is selling out due to Pearl. Tango is wondering who is buying up all the solar panels. 😂
I love how you’ve been pulling in hermits to give critique/showcase your base! It reminds me of art school! Critique is a great tool- so many people are afraid of it! Great work!
pearl, i absoloutley envy your little cars, however ive been into solar punk architecture for a while, and carbon emmisions and cars in general are usually seen as anti-solarpunk. Solar punk is usually focused around public transportation, using monorail solar powered trains, subways, trans, busses, and maybe even some sort of aircrafts. Now that i think of it, the cars arent really seeming to be meant to be active and are sort lf just getting re used, such as the flower truck, but i think they would receycle old cars in the solar punk age. Anyways, this is just my advice, i love your creativity and its why youre my favorite builder, so do what you wish
I tend to keep everything built outside of the base irrelevant to my base theme - I know that seems a little backwards in some points, but I keep the challenge of Solarpunk generally in that area, so I can free myself to other themes elsewhere on the server ^-^
Who said the work trucks were petrol powered?
I think podzol for the roof. I love the design of the building and the farm, great episode!
23:09 Bdubs being the inspiration for everyones builds this season XD
Clearly the post office horse now got his own fanmail section.
Man i love titles with po po and purr purr in em lmao
Its kind of weird tho. Also i feel like a robot😂
15 secs… smh… I don’t have a problem .
Pearl your bases never fail to become some of my favorite builds in any given hermit craft season. Your creativity and originality and skills create beautiful works of art. Love watching your worlds come to life.
I love that you were able to take Ren's feedback with grace and understanding his intention, cause I give feedback in the same way. It irks me that I'm like this, but often it's way easier for me to point out things that "feel wrong", which means that in general, everything else was great! I just don't really have the words to say that as easily.
hmmmm.... OH I'VE GOT IT! For those lower plants, instead of just sticking a chorus plant on end stone and calling it a day, place a chorus flower, put a flowering azalea leaves block on top of it then encase both blocks in glow lichen, would make a neat little purple-y pale bush/shrubbery that ties in nicely with your trees.
pearl upload
The “boop” as she signs off is back, yes!
They're Wind Turbines, Pearl. LOVE how your base is coming to life!
