When you do the fuse jumpers I had a wiring guy I don't know what else to call him he does entertainment install he said never go higher than the fuse that you pull out of the fues box you want to be equal or less and he explained why because if there is a short with your aftermarket system that fuse would blow before the factory one keeping your factory components safe but this was a pretty sweet

I love that your sharing a really cool hack. If you can take a little constructive criticism though - PLEASE put a towel or cloth or something down when you're working on stuff. When you had your old heater control panel upside down on your console and were monkeying with all the plugs and bolts - it was really ratcheting my OCD as the panels were mashing against each other and sliding all over the place. ;)

Hey! Question, is the pin you are having to modify and other parts for installing the Sync 4? I just checked my 21 STX and it has Sync 4 already, would i be able to just plug in that pin without modding it? Would that also apply to any other parts? (First time seriously upgrading so just wanted to double check before i fully committed)

Hey man love the video do you know if I can do this swap in a 2018 raptor?
I have a 2021 stx. Since day 1, the backup camera has sucked, it has 360 cameras. It lags badly and the resolution is terrible. Did you suffer from any of this? And did the 12” screen fix any of it?
The screen looks way nicer than the stock one. They are way clearer and more user friendly with CarPlay. Side note: clean your garage habibi 😂

The green cable from eBay and the other from a Ford parts dealer online.
What about forscan programming after it’s installed?
Not needed unless you want to change the splash screen to full size (I personally don’t care)
Hey Shaun. I did all as you did on the video, I checked both wires and they have 12v but the screen does not turn on. I am thinking I got a bad screen. Is there any other thing you did other than what you showed on the video?
Either bad screen. Some guys have messaged me and said they had the same issue then installed the 12” APIM and it worked. Seems like 1 out of every 5 people have this issue
Try to reset screen first by holding down forward track and the power button for 10 seconds together

Followed these steps and I am having an issue. Sometimes the screen powers on, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the screen is responsive to touch sometimes its not. It will also randomly go black. Any suggestions?

Hi Shaun, just wondering how it’s still working. I made the swap today and the screen will stay on about 5 minutes. Reset doesn’t work but unplugging will for another 5 minutes or so. Also, screen shows the native 12” layout instead of the 8” format. Any ideas on why the screen is shutting off?

Hey Shaun I followed everything down to the T! My issue is the screen powered on for a second and now will not power on and I swapped fuses and it did the same thing.powered on to nothing.. Do I need bigger fuses?
Check to make sure you don’t have power and ground swapped. Then hold the power button and track forward button at the same time for 5-10 seconds to reset the system. I know 3 different people have received defective screens recently that did the same exact thing as yours, and on the other end 10+ people have hit me up and told me it worked great
@@ShaunOconnell holding the power button and forward button worked to get it on!! My next issues is the touch screen worked for a hot minute now it doesn't.. Lol

I did this and it works but every now and then then the screen will go dark then come back on. I had it go black and I had to cut it off and back on to get it to come back on. Have you had this issue?
The small oem screen does this too randomly
It's because you didn't use a 12inch APIM. The 8inch APIM doesn't work like it should

So you put both grounds together?
Yes he twisted them together then put electrical tape around them as an electrician I suggest you buy these things called “wire nuts” to stick the wires together rather than tape

Does your screen stay on while the truck is is accessory mode?
No it turns off

Did you buy the screen and APIM or just the screen? If you got both and your using the black harness that comes with the apim it want work.

Cheap? Must have fun money. I thought about doing this but here's why i wont:
1) cost
2) time for a diy
3) no advantage for a larger screen as its only more surface area but functionality remains almost unchanged(only thing i can think of is gps perhaps but who uses factory gps anyways).
If it was possible to install an aftermarket radio(its a dying art im afraid) on these trucks, that would warrant the change and price.
