I love the way you give your self the grace to do small jobs at a time. That is the way I have been cleaning my home since I finished cleaning my parents horded home. It took me a year and a half. I decided I didn't want my kids to inherite my junk collections. Because things I like are junk to my kids. So I decided to finally just get rid of all my small collections all over my house. I am so proud of you and I enjoy your cleaning style.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One thing key for me in decluttering is to get the items out of the house as quickly as possible. When we moved last I would put items to donate in my car trunk and as soon as it was full I would take it to a local thrift shop. It really helped me to stop the rethinking on an item. You are doing great and will enjoy your home so much more. Be sure to change out your air conditioner filter as you stir up the dust.
Agree. I have made multiple trips to the donation site and have listed and sold some items and given some away for free. If an item didn't sell quickly (within days), I would either drop the price or relist it for free. Still no takers? I would take it straight to the donation center with the rest of the items I was donating.
You know what might be fun? After a decluttering session, pulling out a favorite candle and a book for a few minutes as a treat to yourself! I always light a candle after I'm done cleaning my kitchen (because I'm not crazy about doing it) but it's great because it marks the room as "finished for today" in my mind.
You probably don’t realize how much you are helping people like me. Your honesty and opening your home to us is very inspiring. If you can do this then I can too. You are making great progress. The results will be so rewarding. I’m going through a similar journey. Thanks so much. ❤
You're doing so well. Yes, most experts say only touch something once but it will be so much easier for you to go back to the bookshelves etc when you've cleared more space and can see what you've got. Your way will work as long as you keep going. Every night when you go to bed you can look around you and say that your house is better than the night before!
When it comes time for Clutter Mountain, maybe you can mark your progress with a sticky note on the wall marking how high it started, or update us with "It started at 18 floorboards wide, and we got through 2 floorboard widths of it today." You are doing incredible work. Keep it up! I'm so proud!
Just a thought, if you cleared & cleaned one shelf in the bookcase you could store your DVDs on there for now. And only keep as many as you can easily fit on there. Good luck with it all, you're doing great! x
Well done. I spotted ‘Are you being served?’ DVDs that was a brilliant comedy show. They do re-runs every now and then and I’d still watch them. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍🙏💐
You are making such great progress! I really like to hear you talk through your decisions and feelings about what you're decluttering and what you're keeping. You have a lovely speaking voice.
I put all my DVD's into soft slipcovers and threw the bulky hard plastic cases away. I fited probably about 50+ dvd's in one small lidded Ikea storage box. It fits neatly on my bookcase and looks much better.
Just as a little tip you may want to have a dust cloth with you to easily clean as you go . I have found this helps me in my declutter and cleaning journey.
I’m really impressed by the progress you made in just a few weeks! I think you could be a great motivator and help others by inspiring them! Well done!
You have inspired me to have a go at getting rid of my "fat" wardrobe (size 28 and I wear 20/22 now) so I have taken 5 trash bags of clothes to the goodwill this week! You just keep on going and inspiring the rest of us as you tackle your mountains.
This is so hard! Been through the same. Im three years in and fine tuning. The majority of the hoard was gone in six months. Now im down to sentimentals and have to be really hard on myself. It definitely gets easier as you go along. Its really like changing your brain and making new good habits to replace the bad ones. Im glad you decided to bring us on the journey. Thanks. You're doing great just keeping going. When you get a few weeks to a month in You're gonna be amazed and elated.
Thank you! I'm really enjoying your journey. I also pressed post on my first UA-cam video. I'd been holding off as it wasn't perfect. But then you shared how you're still learning and I realised I could do the same. I appreciate your openness and vulnerability.
Oh, thank you so much! I tried to find your video but couldn't see it. If you are willing to share but want to stay private, send me the link at PeeltheClutter@gmail.com. If you'd rather not share, I totally understand. I wish you all the best and am so grateful for your encouragement and kindness.
Decision fatigue is real. It's OK to have a "maybe" pile. As you work though things, you will automatically start identifying what is meaningful to you and what isn't anymore. Yay for finding things that bring you joy! Those moments are what creates the momentum to continue the journey.
Great job! Just keep going! I have found that it’s worth it to me to drive to the donation store even when I have a small amount. It gives me a dopamine rush to donate it, and helps me feel motivated to do more plus it make space even if it’s a small amount. I prefer this, even if it is more trips.
That next clutter mountain might take you a few videos. So I hope you won't let it discourage you. Maybe start to tackle it in 2 ft x 2ft sections and if/as you start to feel better, increase the size of the section. Plus, de-cluttering is not a "one and done' process, so give yourself grace. And I almost forgot - I love jasmine scented anything! Have a great week!
It's always so nice to see our fur babies enjoying a "newly discovered" space. I've also discovered that if I reevaluate the same space once a month, each time I usually find something new to let go of. When you look at an item for x amount of months in a row, you will eventually realize that you're truly not going to use it and don't want to look at it cluttering up the space any longer
Wow, just getting the trash out is a huge win! Keep that in mind if you start feeling overwhelmed. Every bit of trash or recycling that goes out the door is gone to its forever home and your home is that much better ❤ Starting with the obvious trash is a great way to start on an overwhelming space so you can start to make progress and enjoy that momentum. Keep up the good work. You’re helping yourself and a lot of other people too.
One of the things I had to teach myself was don’t put it down, put it away. That works best once in daily living in order to not start the piles all over. I’m binge watching after you were mentioned by Bonnie, really impressive progress, and it’s absolutely an ongoing process! Good job!
Great job Mira!! Love seeing the before and after shots 👍 I’m a candle lover like you and have a BIG stash. To help keep my “collection “ in check I keep it all in one cabinet. Mine is an old dry sink, about the size of a small dresser. It has two shelves, so I have spring/summer scents on one and fall/ winter on the other. It is definitely packed 😂 but this way I always know where they all are & before I run out. Hope this helps you, love your videos 🤓
Mara🎉 You are all ready making a difference! Keep going!! Fess up time....I had over 25,000 staples and 3 staplers.😂 What exactly would any one do with those? Everything you are doing is getting you closer to a beautiful result. Keep what you use and also, keep what you like enough- that you are willing to dust it frequently! I've decided I have more things to do than spend time dusting...(that helps me decide what to keep! ). Your dog seems happy and excited about his fresher home, too!🎉
Brilliant! I really enjoyed your video xx I like your soothing voice and the fact that you are tackling such a lot I think tackling small parts of the area to avoid overwhelm is a very important decision Looking forward to the next video ❤
Great job! I can so see your momentum growing. Good on you to recognize tackling the size project that will keep you going - large or small, it all adds up. Many blessings 🌻🍄
Dear Mira, I'm going through a really hard time right now with my anxiety and watching your videos and listening to your words let's me know I'm not alone and I'll be okay too, eventually. I'm trying to follow your lead and give myself grace when I can't do as much as I hope. Thank you for being vulnerable and truthful and just for being you. Sending you a virtual warm hug, -Alex
When I started decluttering I did one drawer at the time, just like you did in this video. this was such a huge transformation, you seem to be very good at just grabbing the bull by the horns no matter how daunting the project looks and just diving in. Can't wait to see you tackle the next thing.
You’re doing amazingly well…so feel free to ignore this suggestion. 😊. Have you considered getting trash bags and walking through your house picking up the obvious trash that you can easily see without moving things around? You could see bags of progress sitting at the curb waiting for them to leave your life. All of us are cheering you on!
I had a ton of scented candles, too! I used to work at a store that sold them and would take full advantage of big sales. I began lighting them while I was cleaning the house or going through boxes of old papers and stuff that had been sitting in the back of a closet. The scents are relaxing and enjoyable to me and serve as a nice backdrop to whatever work I'm doing that day. I've burned through the majority of those candles now. I actually bought a candle today for the first time in a long time. It's burning now as a matter of fact.
What a great transformation for that area. So glad you got the air filter working too. You can tackle that mountain! Your decision making is getting faster it seems. Keep being ruthless~ Bravo!

Isn't it fun to find things you love that have gotten lost? I know my mom enjoys that when we declutter her house! Can I also say that we seem to have similar tastes in CD's and books? I've seen several during your process that I also have and love! Do give your pups a hug from me. They're so adorable!!!!! Keep up the fantastic work!
👏 so…much better! You can feel proud of what you have accomplished! It is ok to handle your “clutter mountain” in smaller bites in order to not get overwhelmed. We are here for you!
You are doing so well!! I think it’s a great idea to tackle that smaller space. We just have to do these tricks for ourselves to keep moving forward. I’m cheering for you Mira!!!
Your videos just popped up for me this morning while I was looking for something to watch while I work and now I'm binge watching your videos! I am so, so proud of you for tackling what feels like an insurmountable task at times. One day at a time, one section at a time - I think you're making amazing progress both mentally and in your space, and it will feel so, so freeing the more to do! ❤
Excellent idea to give the items, that you would like to sell, a specific timeframe. You are making great progress and this will encourage so many other people to make a start.
It’s so much work to list things that I donate instead…too much work for too little money, and it clutters up my house while it sits there waiting to be sold….
You are doing such an amazing job. Clutter mountain is already conquered because you have the mindset! Thanks for letting us follow you on this journey! ❤️
You seem to have a strategy that is working for you. On clutter mountain tell yourself you are going to clear a certain amount of floor space do you don't get overwhelmed. Like a 3' by 3' space at a time. Good luck on your journey.

I agree, the sooner you take trash, recycling and donations out of your house, the sooner you will see huge progress.
I do this too. I use my back seat so that way every time I do errands, I drive by a donation stop, and drop it off immediately.
You know what might be fun? After a decluttering session, pulling out a favorite candle and a book for a few minutes as a treat to yourself! Wow, thank you! It means a lot that I could inspire anyone. Thank you for watching, and I wish you all the best with your journey. You can do it!
@@PeelingAwaytheClutter Thanks so much Mira! I can’t wait to watch more! 🤗💖
Your dog looks excited “Look mom, I can walk around!” ❤
He really does! It's so cute to watch.
14:28 was such a satisfying shot to see the floor clear! You got this!

This is such a great idea! Way to keep perspective
Never heard of that idea before!!
Great job. I'm looking forward to seeing you tackling the mountain. Just remember 1 item at a time.
Great idea. I just took before and after pics as each area got cleaned.
I think you’re doing great!

That clutter mountain... WOWSERS... you are going to LOVE being in your living room with all of that gone! Can't wait to see the next video!
You're making progress!
Great job, Mira! Way to go! You are quickly becoming my decluttering hero.
Aw, thank you!
Just as a little tip you may want to have a dust cloth with you to easily clean as you go . I have found this helps me in my declutter and cleaning journey.

You have such beautiful floors underneath the piles
They are great. Thanks for commenting and subscribing!
You have inspired me to have a go at getting rid of my "fat" wardrobe (size 28 and I wear 20/22 now) so I have taken 5 trash bags of clothes to the goodwill this week! You just keep on going and inspiring the rest of us as you tackle your mountains.
That is wonderful! Congrats on sending five bags to people who can use them!
Nice job! Looks 1,000% better.

Wonderful! Baby steps… great job
" clutter mountain", you got this!!
Your doing great!
Great job🎉. Don't feel intimated by the area. Just remember every little step turns into a big leap, as long as you keep going👍💯.
I can’t wait for the first installment of Clutter Mountain! So inspiring!

Keep at it. Look what progress you've already made!😊
Nice job. Well done 👍👍
I have every faith in you to attack clutter mountain. I’m excited for you. You’re really doing a great job.

Look at all the free space!! You’re making such great progress!! 👏🏻🥰
Impressed that you changed your fan filter when you found the filter box.
You go girl!! I like your steady approach. I find that sometimes after a few “passes” I’m finally ready to let go of some things.
🎉well done project Be well

Looking forward to the next video ❤

What a remarkable difference! You are doing so good!! Keep it up! ❤️

WOW! The before and after is amazing! Way to go!
You Go Girl! I love watching you tackling challenges everyday! You are a winner!

I'm trying to follow your lead and give myself grace when I can't do as much as I hope. Thank you for being vulnerable and truthful and just for being you. Sending you a virtual warm hug, -Alex
You are doing a great job! Keep on with your effective routine 😊👍🔥
Your fur baby is enjoying the new open spaces! Keep up the great work!
Awesome job!! That looks fantastic!!! Way to go!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
When I started decluttering I did one drawer at the time, just like you did in this video. Usually it got me started and I did do something more but felt fulfilled because I acchived my goal for the day. You’re doing so great! Oh talking about candles, I need hard rules with them! I’m not allowed to buy a new one until I’ve used up the ones I already have. AND I also have a box as my limit for how many I get to keep. My grandma died two years ago so I did keep some candles from her. And last year I made my own. Hmm… my spidey senses are telling me to maybe declutter my candles… 🤡😅
this was such a huge transformation, you seem to be very good at just grabbing the bull by the horns no matter how daunting the project looks and just diving in. Can't wait to see you tackle the next thing.
Good Job Mira! One small and manageable task at a time. Be Proud of Yourself❣️
Excellent progress 👍

I'm so excited for the next section! Keep up the great work. You've got this! 💪🌟😊
You're doing great! 😊
Wow! You are absolutely amazing!!! 🤩
What a great transformation for that area. So glad you got the air filter working too. You can tackle that mountain! Your decision making is getting faster it seems. Keep being ruthless~ Bravo!
Your dog seems so happy with his new play space!
You got this!! You are doing amazing 🎉🎉🎉
I just watched your videos so far and all I can think is how much happier your dog will be with the clearer space! And you too.
I realized over time that most anything I brought home no longer have monetary value. I spent the money buying them, but I don’t expect anyone to buy them from me. When I focused on trying to recoup some money, it stopped me in my tracks. I also see this in older relatives downsizing. When they focus on «this still has value», they stalled in their decluttering. Finding places to donate where I can imagine the item bringing joy or just helping out (women’s shelter, animal shelter, refugee help organization etc), made it easier to part with everything.
You go girl! You are very encouraging!
I'm so excited for Clutter Mountain!!! 🤗☺️💕
Just a point which might be helpful. When I do cleaning and decluttering, first I throw away all rubishes cartons,boxes.... anything which is considered garbage first so I get a better view and a sense of satisfaction.then I go in second round and decide for the remaing items what to keep and what to declutteted.

Thanks for sharing your story. You're doing a great job! Love to watch and listen to you. ❤
Your videos just popped up for me this morning while I was looking for something to watch while I work and now I'm binge watching your videos! One day at a time, one section at a time - I think you're making amazing progress both mentally and in your space, and it will feel so, so freeing the more to do! ❤
Love your calm voice & the realistic real life clutter way to go! Ps remember fresh flowers & love your outfits!
Excellent idea to give the items, that you would like to sell, a specific timeframe. You are making great progress and this will encourage so many other people to make a start.
You are doing great! Such a difference.
Girl you got this 🎉. it’s a really good plan to give yourself a set date as to if things sell and if they don’t just donate. Great work!!! 😊
It’s so much work to list things that I donate instead…too much work for too little money, and it clutters up my house while it sits there waiting to be sold….
Excellent! 💜
You are doing such an amazing job. Clutter mountain is already conquered because you have the mindset! Thanks for letting us follow you on this journey! ❤️
