Half the participants are senior citizens driving much more expensive cars that are twice as old as that Z, so he's gonna need to grow some balls and get used to that car getting fucked up.
One of rare rally events I would truly enjoy in participating. There are quite few 70s cars I would love to drive on that event. Like AR GTAs, or going crazy with some DeTomaso :)

Good cargo volume, better mileage then a full size truck, more comfort then a midsize, decent off roadish capability on a full frame and I wouldn't have to drive an S10. I gotta say this guy has a lot better taste then I did.
the paved will be worse than the dirt - because there will be jagged pot holes.I had a 260z with the 2.8 but running 240 carbs through a janspeed stainless - sounded fabulous.
I would so rock an Alfetta GTV6. Hell if it stayed in one piece, I reckon it could do really well. But then again, a 1965 Giullia Sprint GTA 1600 would bring a tear to me eye. Wow man, the closest I have gotten to this is on Gran Turismo 4 with the Mille Miglia (Thousand Mile Race). The Chevelle and GTA were my absolute favorites. Chris is very fortunate. Good luck man.. This thing is super cool and definitely outside the realm of what we usually see in these one-takes. If I were mechanically inclined enough to take on an endeavor such as this, I totally would. In the very least these guys have inspired me to do something like this with my own Father. Though it may not involve restoring a 240, or building something from scratch, I would like to do something that requires the mind of both my Father and I to properly achieve what we set out to do. Nice I was wondering about this car. I have a 71' 240Z and the rear disk conversion is a huge help in mountainous areas, the old drums fade. I don't have a bored out motor but I have triple carbs and it's matching numbers, orange. I want an LSD.
I noticed that the Peking to Paris Rally has a marked amount of 240Zs in the running. In the 2016 video, there were at least a half a dozen. Must be the ideal platform for a JDM rally car.
I want to build one of these Datsun 240/260/280z So bad!! The lines on them are beautiful with fresh paint, Plus they are really fast when built. I would drop an RB26 in it and keep the original L series motor and rebuild it with new carbies, because the L motor sounds good with carbies on it.
In the beginning when you mentioned the bit about octane and compression ratio, I had to pause and look up exactly what that was all about. I now know octane is a measure of resistance to knocking under heat/pressure and not a measure of energy density
+BashMonkeyRC Right. E85 has significantly lower energy density than gasoline, but it's like 105 octane compared to premium here in California, which is 91.
+NoBrakes23 everything has to be period correct. So if you want to run a hot rod 360, you'd have to use hot rod parts available from that period, not WRX stuff

Not sure if you were talking about that specific Z but I'm 6.5 and can easily fit in my 280, surprisingly. I were ready to butcher the stock seat mounts when I first went to look at one but I didn't have to whatsoever.

my favorate pekin to paris car will always be the 1907 itala for obvious reasons and im more of a pre war guy in gerneral but this thing is cool

+im Shax This one had the seats pushed forward a bit from stock to make room for the roll cage.
+TheSmokingTire The seats are just thicker and set higher.. easy enough to cut the stock seat mounting brackets down - if you need more room.
