  • Join Ex BTCC racer Patrick Watts and his wife Pam as they prepare for the rally of a lifetime, the 9,000 mile Peking to Paris.
Commencing in Peking in May 2024 and concluding in Paris after seven weeks, the 100 participants will traverse nine countries and span eight time zones, confronting challenging terrains such as remote deserts, dense forests, and mountainous tracks-all while racing against the clock. From the arid landscapes of China to the expansive Mongolian Gobi and the concealed wilderness of Kazakhstan, the teams will spend numerous nights camping under the stars. Navigating through the obstacles, competitors will await the arrival of an aging Caspian Sea ferry to transport them to Azerbaijan. However, just as they might believe the toughest challenges are behind them, they will encounter rugged roads in Turkey, Greece, and ultimately, the French Alps. The European leg of the journey will maintain relentless pressure on the teams until the very finish of the event in Paris.

Cheers from one of the 6000 or so people that has a real Tiger. Bought mine ten years ago, had it fully painted eight years ago, and then interrupted it with a series of other restorations including a 1952 Singer roadster lightweight special, and a 1941 GMC CC303 roll on flatbed car carrier, and a couple of small tractors. It is currently a rolling chassis with Tiger orange paint, twin black stripes, doors, and trunklid as of May 1st 2024, but every piece is painted, powdercoated, rebuilt, or new, and ready to assemble so it will be driving this summer. When I purchased it was flared nicely for larger tires, and had an unusual airscoop welded into the hood from back in the 60's or 70's so I left that for posterity expecting some of the olde guard here in Socal to recognize it either in person, or from pictures. I am wishing you luck on your voyage saying this as one who has watched the entire Peking to Paris run here on you tube. Godspeed, and good luck to all intrepid adventurers who set out on that trek. You will be a different couple upon your return to England for better or worse all the more worldly, and experienced. Assume you will be staying south of the Black Sea this trip so tip your hat to the Hagia Sofia as you pass through Constantinople for me, a sight I hope to see before departing this bright, and beautiful place I've called home for 60 years. Again, good luck, godspeed, and keep the shiny side up my friends!

Have just learned that you have bought the ex Nicky Porter Mercedes 450 SLC rally car at the Iconic Silverstone auction.I have known Nicky since the early 70,s when we were hillclimbing Cooper S,s(me as Alex Boyle) & the car could not have gone to a better home. The last time I saw the car was on the Lombard/Bath retro rally in 2019.
    Hope you've recovered from Peking/Paris?!
    Best regards
    PAB.

Hint for the producers.... NO ONE watches car videos to hear music or tweeting birds. Engine sounds? You bet! Stories? Definitely.

I drove the 2019 PtoP. Car #5 Ford Model A. We finished under our own power, which is enough. I think the video is great. Hope you are still in the hunt.
