  • Forgive my lack of Soldering skills. the old capacitor appears to have pulled away the old solder pad!

    And ... You caused a short . The positive pin only needed a little bit of Solder. its making contact with the ground pad all around it. Also your using too low of temp. 800F and you only need to touch the tip for about 2 secs... done

      Well, it was set to 425C, which would be 797 Fahrenheit, but I'm curious about this short. I thought the terminal needed to be soldered to the pad?

    NOOOO... you lost your pad the tools your using are too big for that type of work I've got some for you if you need them
