    First year of college I really wanted to go to a concert. Had no idea who Explosions were but I bought a ticket and had such an amazing night.

    Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky are just similar at genre, post-rock. They are really different. Totally different. Both are special by theirselves;

    He uses an ebow, which makes the strings vibrate. It's the thing he's holding in his right hand.

    It's an E-bow who make the sound through magnetic vibrations!
    It costs around 120 dollars.

      Do you know what kind of pedals he's using with the ebow? Usually ebows have a boring 80s sound

    @gabegabegabe1 I found out through several sources he was their Guitar Tech and long time friend of the band. One article identified his name as Carlos Torres.

    Explosions are great live. Duno why but the drums on this recording sound small, like a little boxy kit. The Explosions sound is built on a big drum sound so for me this recording doesn't really work that well, just doesn't sound big enough.

    the label "post rock" is really the only thing they have in common, and that doesn't mean anything, seeing how broad the "post rock" spectrum is.
