I've got DS3 2014 e-hdi, and when I sat in crossback I fall in love. Everything that in old ds3 was bad in new is gone. Styling is superb, more doors are great, quality is even better. On next year I going to buy new car and DS3 crossback is on my list for sure!
What I hate the most is when people who has never seen or sit in a car start to judge the design of it on the basis of a video watched on their smartphone. It is the same for ergonomy, they only rely on a the point of view of a reviewer who spent half a day (at most) « testing » the car. A couple of years ago I had a TTS model 2015. It took me nearly 3 months to get used to the MMI system. I also used to have a x1 bmw. I drive is a better system than mmi but still it took me one week to get used to all functionality. People don’t like what is different they like standardisation. iPhone galaxy Volkswagen etc....
Jamie Pickles yeah it looks really good, but i wouldn‘t buy it, cuz my friends DS3 had to replace the Engine after 30.000 KM, 20.000 KM after that, the alternator gave up, as well as the Battery but thats an other Story, they have a lot of Engine problems, so thats a „Hell no“ for me!
Great review and great car! Although I feel you could have gone over the additional extra's that this Performance Line Model has got. E.g Focal Sound System and the Matrix Head Lights. I Can't wait to collect my Prestige next month!
call me a freak, but i'm obsessed with this car. And i really want to drive it once. Price doesn't matter for me at all, because luxury SUVs cannot be cheap. And it is possibile to get used to sensor buttons on the dashboard. Speaking about size - it is decent. It doesn't tell you "i am a weekend adventurer and you can carry on a canoe on my roof". This is city car, and from that perspective, this is a great offer! UPD: this message for people who complain about lack of comfort and overall darknes on rear seats. Remember, DS is not Citroen. This IS NOT a car for rear passengers. It is all about driver's selfishness. This car is only for him, not for his friends, not for his children or other relatives. This approach is followed by DS since they've reinvented a brand in 2009. Just take a look on old DS3, DS4 and DS5. DS3 has not rear doors at all, DS4 has weird-shaped narrow doors without windows, DS5 is extremely tight in the rear despite is enormous length. Always keep that in mind.
Selfish drivers got 2-seaters. I'm french and I can tell you that these DS cars are not as luxurious as they pretend. I saw it live in Paris Auto Show (even the interior), it is nowhere near any Lexus or Mercedes-Benz. It's as good as Mini, not more. You can find a lot of used DS4 and DS5 for sale at around 10k € actually here. Back when they arrived, I was huge fan of this ambition for our cars to be luxurious again, but the hype disappeared after they made bad decisions. Sales numbers talk for it. DS7 is still magnificent though. Eh and my brother got a DS3, which I really like very much because it's the genesis of DS Automobiles. Don't see me as a hater. I understand your pov. To each their own. Sorry for my english
Yes, it shares some design details with Audi at the front, but then again it's individual enough. I like the shape of the daytime running lights (on the DS7 Crossback it's almost just a vertical line, even though I would prefer an integration in the main headlights even more). The two most discussed details are the protruding piece of metal above the headlight and the shark fin on the side. In my opinion both are acceptable and definitely unique. I couldn't really imagine before how the golden paint would look like and now I can't decide between it and the turquoise-blue one. Anyway, I am very interested in the electric version and there could be even more color combinations. Also the interior is unique - especially if you choose the white option with the embroidered check pattern. The only thing I would have to like for the sake of the car are these small castors on the multifunction steering wheel for skipping songs - I didn't really like them at Peugeot - and the fact that the switches for the window regulators are located in the centre console. It's all very individual, but it's what makes it stand out. 10:40 I recognized it for the first time: looks like you got two arm rests on the door, don't you? Also they could have made a better job to integrate that inside door handle. Mazda did a great job in the latest 3. C'mon, DS, you're french designers?
Hi Ray. I think I will be following your footsteps. What trim did you get? Any extras you got? Are there any extras you wish you added? I'll be grateful for the feedback.
Right from the get go, must say like the outside styling and door handles. But right from the get go, I would have to see the inside in person, but only from the get go. But nice review Brian.
The buttons are ok for me since I try not to piss about with them when driving anyway plus you can just use voice activation to turn up the heating etc
I really like the DS branding and all but I also have a small problem with the buttons and the feedback etc I would prefer that they found a way to have at least ~some~ buttons. Otherwise the car looks great and I would still buy one probably
At first I really hated the exterior design, except maybe for the 3/4 rear view as I do like the back of the car (simple lines, nice thin lights). But for the front and the profile... definitely NOT love at first sight, especially the weird front lights and the shark fin (it looks in the wrong position to me). But little by little, and maybe depending on the colour of the car, I am sort of getting used to its appearance, something like an acquired taste... It is not so unpleasant to look at, though I still feel somehow uncomfortable. Nonetheless, I sort of like it and I can't explain why. Even the interior is starting to have some effect on me, though I agree with Brian that practicality may not be met here. Oh, DS3 Crossback, what have you done to me!
16:20 When will they just use mobile phone screens for these infotainment systems? Thin like less than 8mm and bezeless! With fast refresh rates and high PPI something that can fold down so its not in your face this way we can recycle and reuse without producing more waste.
Another great review, can you add a decent test of safety tech to your reviews please ? Its an ever changing area that makes new car purchasing difficult as the tech differs so much (and the dealers waffle about) - active cruise as an example - many have it, but only some you can use in city stop start traffic and it does it for you (we all must want that) but no reviewers tell us much or show us really ? My drives normally involve tons of city traffic, so however much I would love to chuck my car around and experience the amazing handling it may have, the reality is, I am sitting in a queue waiting for a red light to change :( ........ handling has gone totally from my choice of next car must haves, its irrelevant now in the real world most of the time, unless you live out-of-town (and I don't ). So many reviews show us a 0-60 or a swift blast around a country lane, or tight turn, but a quiet, comfortable car that takes a lot out of stop start traffic would be a god sent to me - I will sacrifice some country carving for it ! and I quite like the indicator chirp ... but not that racket when you opened the door :)
@@autogefuehl excellent - which ones do you recommend I watch ? (not Tesla, cannot afford one) I would like to watch small or mid size SUV safety tech in action - thanks
I wonder why you guys don't use a handfree microfon, like other cartesters do. as Carwow or Carbuyer or almost any other youtube test channel.. English, German, Dutch, Danish, Irish Swedish.
More like a spaceship warning about an incoming crash !! lol... All current Peugeot and Citroen cars have this though. Looks like in PSA they are fascinated by this UFO styling to their cars, I guess haha :D
I just couldn't believe this is a high-end Citroen. it's definitely unique.. uniquely terrible and gives a bad after taste to the DS brand. The design direction if there is any is everywhere and going nowhere. Shark fin B-Pillar ( 21:43 heavily styled coffin.. good point ) worked well with the supermini Citroen DS 3 but not on this Crossback. Dashboard with it's diamond shape motif is pretentious and forgettable. Fantastic review Brian, but sorry not so much the car.
This is a car you buy to persuade others that you're quirky, eccentric and bold. Trouble is you do that at your own expense. It's too expensive and the ergonomics are extremely bad. Everytime i heard the indicators i got an image in my head of DS recording some Frenchman in a sound-booth hitting different xylophone keys and the sound engineers discussing which one to use for the indicator sound.
so you use the voice command for something its is not meant for which is to specify precise directions but you do not bother to use it for one of its proper uses and tell it to turn on the ait con, or heating because u just want to moan about the buttons, also try changing the sound of the indicator
No there are not many details in the front, there is not much going on and it is not an impressive design. There are some details, and it is a pretty ordinary good job, it is not bad, but it is not in any way fantastic or impressive. BUT it is designed to give that impression... it is made to fool the eye into thinking that it is something it is not - namely fantastic. And given how many people are being fooled, it does that job pretty well. But against a really advanced design, it is without a chance, It is amateurish without finesse and also looks cheap if you manage to look beyond the headlights and taillights designed to draw attention from the simple body.
And for people with kids, those rear windows are a true prison!! No kid will feel good in the back of this car. My kids love looking outside, at the trees, other cars, clouds...please consider this when you have kids that don't play on the tablet all the time when on the road. Visibility is a much underappreciated value in cars, great visibility with lots of natural light in the cabine is so pleasing and much safer!!
you do not have a huge amount of glass to look out of??? what you taking about haha that fin design is actually only losing you about 6 by 5 inch you have the rest of the window for god sake lol
