Let me know what you think in the comments below. Preservation, restoration, repairing antique vintage cars and trucks is my passion. In this video I completely dismantle, clean, paint and assemble the 54 year old Volkswagen karmann ghia axle/beam. This car was forgotten in a barn for 40 years. Super Arbeit , Gruß aus Deutschland 🇩🇪
Hi CT! Thanks for providing me something entertains to watch this Sunday am 👍🏻
You catch some flack for the amount of tearing down that you do, but that is not all that you do. Very good episode, with all the prep work, paint, and put back together.
You can say that again! =) Thanks Richard!!! It takes a ton of time, blood, sweat, tears & money to do this! Thanks for all the support!
That disassembly, clean up, paint, reassembly with new joints, bearings etc. was awesome.
Thank you!!!👍😎👍
Love it!🖤
Even Josh was impressed with this one , very nice work on the beam 👍
Nice job CT. I’m always looking for your next video!
Great that you used 2k paint instead of cans ! This will last wayyyyy longer now :)
👍👍👍
God has promised to bless the work of our hands. Really shows here.
I love your jig idea with the engine stand, would have never thought of doing it
Thanks! 👍😎👍
Yep, save the back👍
That was a ton of work and that beam came out fantastic!

YES! =) Thanks man!
Everyone should have a vintage Bronco Paint Stand. LOL
We all hope you will finish this project this time my friend....really
After a year of me watching ct work on old cars and trucks. I can say he has come along way. He learned how to paint and he found out sand blasting is not cost effective. The builds are done right that is why I have been watching his videos.
Thanks Woody!
I love your paint booth!
Thanks! =)
I bought a karmann ghia 74 just for the encouragement of seeing your videos and i will try to do the same your thanks
Very cool! Keep me updated! =)
Sehr schöne Arbeit. 👍👍

Good job CT, Putting it on the engine stand was a great idea. Slade and Heather are doing theirs too but on the floor. It looks great with the gloss paint👍

Excelente trabalho na suspensão dianteira do Karmann Guia VW.
Parabéns 👏👏👏
Always amazed at the quality and design of these components
Nice job!
Nice!!!!!!!
Cool. Next you can take the body off the floor/frame. They are so crazy, not even 20 bolts to separate it.
Fantastic ...good
Keep staying on point with the KG, CT. Don’t allow yourself to get sidetracked. Keep plugging away at it, man. 😊
Really nice video CT! You can bolt it on the pan now! Calipers are in process this week! Cheers🍺🏁👍

Excellent presentation of restoration.
Awesome job TC the front beam looks great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻god bless
Nice work CT you really raise the bar up on your skill set, love the effort and details you put into to each task.
Great to see CT in the house✌👍🏁🏁
Great work!
This is the first time I have seen rotors like this for these cars. They are normally solid. Very interesting. I bet getting those torsion leaves back in was a pain in the neck. I believe you can retrofit Zerk fittings on the back of the ball joints so you can grease them further on. Since you’re going full out I suggest you make sure you check the oil level on the steering box too. This project is finally coming out fantastically!
A video of you driving this car back to Orlando after you’re finished with the work would be epic.
👍😎👍
@@johndavid8363 Yes
@@johndavid8363 Yes, Darrin pressed out the old and installed the new ones. I mentioned that in previous videos.
@@johndavid8363 It was in the video; all new ball joints everywhere. Watch it again.
@@johndavid8363 You do have a fetish for conflict, eh?
Que excelente trabajo!!! Un maestro!!!

It's really impressive what you've learned since your first videos 👍
Thanks my friend!
Great work, you skill levels have come a long way, since I started watching your videos
Thanks Michael!
Good work
Nice CT, very good Happening with the entire Sequence of this reparation of VW Karmann GHIA axle/bean, you did pretty well all details for us, on awesome video.
Thanks Jose!
good job man ;-)
Thanks Alberto!
Well CT, You learned a lot from the experience you made with restoring the axel beam from rusty, so far nothing new for you. look forward to seeing of the VW Karmann GHIA hits the road again well done. greetings.HCS.
.
Looking good. I can't wait to see this project completed, I think you are going to want to keep it once done. I wish I had the space for a Karmann Ghia but the drive is full as I have a beetle which I am just trying to get back on the road, not doing a full restoration as can't afford it just doing what is required like brakes etc it has been sitting on the drive since around 2001. Oh and your beam is nearly complete do not forget the sway bar.
Nice😉👍
Another classic CT video buddy, this project will be on the road sooner that you think lols. Just had a reconditioned distributor delivered From Bill at SparxWerks to the UK 🇬🇧. What a class job, I would thoughtfully recommend them for your vans or cars if you’re snowed under.
Awesome job CT, waiting to see the final results on the Karman Ghia it is going to look awesome restored, aren*t the axles similar to the bus axles, just wondering.
Thanks man! Yes, they are very similar. 😎
the swamp dragon was a fail 👈
you should make a video explaining us what happened 👍
Good morning
Wau. Yo a la mía ( mi combi), cuando le cambie las rotulas me costó, y ese procedimiento de todo. Vaya que es tardado. Saludos cordiales hermano desde tierra Azteca 🇲🇽
Great video, in every way. Progress, great shot with great composition, informative, way to go! :)
Thank you!!! =)
If you didn’t video this I wouldn’t know how you would have remembered how to reassemble. 👍
Don’t forget the lock plates for the steering damper !
Well done CT :) also looking forward more videos and installing to plus nice black paint job too!
Thanks Andrew!
@@CTmoog welcome
I’ve never seen rotors like that either in all my years. Someone must have made those I guess.
well done man! 😎😎👌👌
Thank you!!! =)
Ct, where did you get the brackets that re holding your beam to your engine stand?
Hi James, the ones I have a a few years old and a bit different design but these should work.

Hello.🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷🇮🇷👍👍👍👍💓💓💓💓🌹🌹🌹🌹
You need a helper! I admire your work!
CT, I belive there are roller bearings in the beam for the torsion arms. Did you replace them with similar once, or perhaps with urethan bearings?
Great job all the editing you have to do for this is just as much work as the rebuild. Just a question. Could you have blasted the beam and parts rather than using chemicals. Cheers and again great job!
Hey CT, long time between videos, do hope your doing well, looking forward to seeing what you do next.
Hey Gail, I'm doing great! Working hard on the Ghia! New video should be out this weekend. Thank you!
@@CTmoog Hi, thanks for getting back to me, looking forward to seeing your work, good to know your doing great.
👏👏👏👏👏
Hey. I’ll bet you’ll get a lot of positive comments for this video. Taking something aprt but then actually putting it back together. Jaaa. That’s what people wanna see. Good job CT. I can’t wait to do the same. Need time to work on my projects dude. Hep me reach 1,000 subs dude🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
👏👏👏👍
It seems like now that you work more methodically, you get a lot more done.
Thanks Remco!
Updates about the swamp f250 please 🥺🥺
This might be a stupid question but have never had VW beetle or ghia. But what prevents those spindles from working thier way out? Looks like over time they would come out and at least throw the alignment off
Can you put the westfalia camper kit on rusty!?
He look cool with westafalia i'm think
Just wondering where you got these engine stand clamps?
Is it necessary to grease the ball joint to spindle shaft and the camber adjuster?
