  • Adventure Game Hotspot sat down with Jane Jensen and Robert Holmes on the podcast to discuss the future of Gabriel Knight 4. Jane and Robert spill the beans regarding their discussions with Activision, what the style of game they imagine it will be and what the story will be about. Let me tell you, it's NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT'S GOING TO BE but it's a real possibility of happening.
As you might imagine, so much more was discussed.
Do you want to meet Jane and Robert? Well, you can at the Adventure Game Fan Fair in Tacoma. Kickstarter link is here:

GK4 has to happen, we need at least one more adventure with those characters.
They're just too good to remain in limbo.

Yeah! Especially since 3 ended on a bit of a cliffhanger

@@AdventureGameHotspotAt least we got the comic, which moved things forward a little bit. But I know we're all aching for more. I think if a new game comes out, it should end on a note that at least lets people relax,, even if it isn't perfect or even satisfying. Being stuck like this for this many years is pretty hard.

Awesome video!! Would love to see Sierra games returning for a new generation of gamers.. I can see great potential for classic Sierra games on modern generation consoles.. The only issue would be whether Activision and Microsoft would be willing to "play ball" and actually negotiate a way to make this a reality!
Thanks for the amazing content as always, Joshua :)

I would 100% accept just a book series. I just want more of the story at this point. I know not every fan feels the same, but thats where I'm at.
BTW this interviewer is amazing. Great questions. AGH is killing it.

Any adventure by Jane would be great. I don't care that much about licenses, I believe in her creativity. I really liked Moebius: Empire Rising and Grey Matter!

Unreal Engine could be a good choice avoiding alot of months/years just to build a game engine.

"somebody hands you a check for two million dollars" made me laugh btw. I've actually lain in bed imagining winning the lottery, showing up unannounced on Jane and Rob's doorstep with a folder dictating the rights to GK, and just handing it to them, and leaving with "dont you dare tell me what happens".
And this is why I'll never have two million dollars i guess.

I would love anything if it is GK to be honest. Preferrably a game, but show, book, comics, movie, they all sound awesome to me, provided Jane and Robert are involved. Or at least if some skilled team passionate about the series produce it. Just a shame the block to them are legal issues and reluctant companies.

Publishers are much too focused on high revenues. They don't want to take risks. So I doubt that we'll ever see a new Gabriel Knight game unless a new generation of players appear who are fed up with undemanding and stupid games of today.

    • @AdventureGameHotspot
      @AdventureGameHotspot  2 місяці тому

They do not want risk and they do not want the sure thing like HiFi Rush. 150 million isn’t enough revenue off of a 22 million dollar game. We live in a pie in the sky world…apparently

When will it be time for adventures to become what they were meant to become? Games that albeit as action packed as the most chaotic call of duty they entail puzzles even in the middle of a shoot out. "Adventures" should be anywhere and anything.
Who said adventures can only have puzzles anyway? Sierra games never were solely about puzzles. Arguably the other company crystallised Adventures in a dead end.
If videogaming went the right way it would be more respected today. But videogames didn't evolve. Steven Spielberg, the visionary genius that he is, was hopeful and curious about what they promised to be. But they catered to kids and that was it. Why? Was it up to Sierra to do this leap and their failure was the failure of the entire media?
