Even though the game is little jank, the concept of how tough it was to get Jedi and the special gameplay it comes with like actually being hunted by real players, is an experience that will never be replicated again.
It’s an experience that should’ve been capitalized and expanded upon in the 20 years since it’s introduction. It’s an absolute shame. I’m playing SWG R3 and it’s a blast.
@@nectarinedreams7208 franchises apart, maybe. But otherwise rather similar. They’re both multiplayer games that allow you to do many of the same things while playing with and against NPCs and other players.
lol that 85% saber block against range attacks is a nightmare for range bhers. I remember back in 2005 attacking a full templated 225K jedi who had just had his buffs drop at a starport and I ended up having to run for my life as he deflected 14 of my shots from my epic de-10 and was starting to come at me in front of a crowd of 60 onlookers. Just one shot from my de-10 connecting would have killed him, but he was like Obi Wan deflecting everything. My reputation on Bria would have gone down the toilet if I had lost to an unbuffed jedi while I was fully buffed. It was funny the moment where we both realized that we were playing russian roulette and it was in both of our interests to go the other way.
@@-dale2051 that's how much a full templated jedi who had two masteries was worth on the bounty hunter terminals. A full templated jedi who had three masteries was worth 226k. If they were ranked in the frs system like a dark jedi knight and so forth, then they could be worth 325k+
@@elfo7 I just ran away, because I didn't want to lose a fight to an unbuffed jedi which meant he had like no health at all since 99% of pvp took place with fully buffed characters (who were buffed by Master Doctor players). This fight was in front of at least 60 people in a crowded starport and it would of hit my ego to lose that fight as I was fully buffed and had a bunch of food and drink I was also using. Originally there was permadeath where if you died as a jedi you lost your jedi (Late 2003). They changed it early on to if you were killed as a jedi your lost over 3 hours worth of XP. Farming XP as a jedi was pretty rough as you had to avoid killing humanoid npcs and you had to avoid being seen by any other players while using your lightsaber. A lot of jedi would farm animals in the middle of nowhere on a planet like Endor. As a bounty hunter, you just acquired wounds that you would have to see a doctor to heal and your armor would lose some durability.
my word how I miss this game, I never made it to jedi but man did I love having a rancor as a pet ( I was a creature tamer/ teras kasi ) I loved running into battle with my rancor. The games was just superb, the music, the vibes of exploration, going to Poi on the planets, battling NightSisters, fighting krayt dragons and getting rare pearls. was such a blast.
@@Pyr0cd I played during BETA up until late 2005ish. I was like the 50th or so person to unlock Jedi when the Holocrons were the go to source to unlocking being force sensitive and the old man visiting you. Loved the video, took me back when I got attacked constantly back in the day from BHs. Lol
@@Pyr0cd but on a much serious note, I have SWG legends don't like it all to well but I had to get the virtual disks. For me to play the version of SWG EMU do I just need the launcher to play or create its own separate folder ?
I remember when i was TEF hunting Jedi grinders on Endor with my Rifleman/Doctor/Pikeman there was a Jedi staying AFK in the woods holding his saber unignited, so he had no TEF. I pulled some red dotted aggro mobs from far away onto him and his saber did ignite when his AFK char was autoblocking the critters that were attacking him. And we all know you cant show your ignited saber in public. 🙂
Pretty sure the combat medic was lag-hacking, hitting you when they didn't have line of sight from beyond the game's maximum allowed range of 120 meters. Happened all the damn time in the original game. Hell, there was a guild that was proud they hacked on the server I was on. Called themselves SYN and they were so cheese they'd send one guy to take out entire cities in PVP. And they'd WIN. I remember one time I was Imp at the time and Three entire guilds responded to a 3-man SYN attack, inside the most heavily fortified Imp city on the server. It was literally the size of Coronet, with houses laid out to force people into killzones covered by multiple turrets, in multiple layers, around 3 max-level bases with max level NPC's. All three guilds were slaughtered, the defenses were destroyed, and the bases blown, and SYN didn't even incap, much less lose anyone. Sony's response; Perma-Ban and account lock anyone who claimed or posted proof SYN were hacking.
Fuck i miss this , pre cu was best nothing can compare . Those squill hunting groups when i was new was awesome . Master rifleman with doctor was great .
Just so you know, this video is what I send people who I think are autistic enough to experience the game we practically grew up with lol, it doesn't deserve to be forgotten, even if it wasn't star wars.. this game was way too damn fun and you show why lol.
Everyone has their preferred way. Totally fine. But proof pre was better is the 90% pop drop after. And the end to all servers. Actually though I just found out about Restoration. Mostly pre cu with some adoptions from after. Nice pop size, just feels like the best. And jedi is still hard to obtain.
gotta say the CU really did help the game imo, cuz that looks rough. I've actually grown used to the NGE controls and stuff, hoping Legends keeps adding cool stuff like Bespin.
The way the movement changed killed it for me, the way you slide as your character / speeder move backwards. More servers = more choices and more choices is always better! 😋
Nice! I miss SWG but this video reminds me of why I hated PreCU. The combat is horrible. Also, that was all Jedi would do was force run all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I loved this era but mostly post CU - pre NGE.
@Pyr0cd no honestly heal states is a massive waste of talent points. The best build was so obvious it boggled my mind how rare it was to come across a jedi with it when I played bh. Master def master ls and the tree of improved healing and I think there was one tree in enhanced for for improved defense buff? Not the one for force defense but the one that was for all damage reduction Literally this build was unstoppable. My jedi was so powerful i played bh for a challenge.
