Sitting here with an Enttec Open DMX Box, the EMU software, 2 moving heads, DMX cables & a laptop... LIterally just needed a basic step-by-step walkthrough on controlling a moving head with this software (as someone who is NEW to dmx but very experienced with MIDI)... Sad that it is so hard to find this on UA-cam. Guess i'll keep looking or just return it. Thought this would be much easier
I'm trying to patch my first fixture on my Macbook Pro M1 Pro and have the latest EMU software installed, but I can't drag that damn Fixture Mode, to the channel grid. Nothing happens! What's up with that
I was hoping to run EMU from a tablet, via a DMX USB Pro Mk2 but. looking at the Windows Spec required (4GB RAM) it's gonna be a laptop probably! Can I ask what everybody else is running on please?
So I've now bought the hardware - Enttec DMX USB Pro Mk2 - I've downloaded the EMU software- I've finally got it all running. I've registered my details with Enttec. The software is still running in demo mode! Please help me to install and register so I can get started!
Hi. Thanks for your videos. DMXIS user here. My issue is that I was controlling lights with the VST in Ableton Live. I can’t find any info as to whether either VSTs works on M1 Macs in Live 11.1, can anyone help? The DMXIS software works natively but not the VST and this is seemingly the same with Emu as I can’t find it in my plugins folder. Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you.
@@MaeThePirate hi! Enttec gave me an answer in the comments on this video ua-cam.com/video/7EPm0vBPnNo/v-deo.html where I posted a similar question. It basically looks like it’s been outsourced and db audio is continuing the DMXIS support which works on M1. www.db-audioware.com/dmxis-lighting-controller Hope this helps.
Hi, tanks for video) Iam new in lightning. Can I use EMU to control light in real time? With notebook keyboard for example, or only if make program for lights before? Thank you)
Must I use the out of stock DMXIS box with this program or can I use the newer DMX USB Pro box? I'm planning on buying this for my band and I want to make the right purchase. I'm guess both would considered for the EMU trade-in?
The trade-in only applies to the DMX USB Pro, bought thru us. But, if you have another DMX-USB from ENTTEC (including the DMXis box), or an Art-Net/sACN box, just use that for now, it will work. When they release pricing/availability of the new EMU box, it will then become a software subscription for anyone NOT using the EMU box, the EMU box will unlock a non-subscription software license.
@@LearnStageLighting thanks! But more to my question about the box itself. Must I use the older DMXIS usb box for this or can I use the newer DMX usb box pro? Is the functionality the same in both boxes for a small band with 8 fixtures?
Do you have experience with Show Buddy? I'm trying to pick between this and Show Buddy, and this seems like a better software but the lack of tech support from them is concerning. Although I think your videos are great and would be very helpful for setting up my light show!
I do, and I think the fact that Show Buddy really doesn't seem to have a lot of users (a few years in) is a red flag. It's not a bad program, I'm just not sure of it's longevity, or if it will die off without warning. Show Buddy tech support isn't great either, unfortunately.
When I look at your "manufacturers" tab you have this massive list of light manufacturers and when I open EMU and go to "manufacturers" all I have is "ENTTEC" and "Generic" I am using two blizzard stormchaser supercell's and I can go straight to the "Fixtures" tab and see something called "Stormchaser" but it will not allow me to patch it over. This could be because I'm stuck in DEMO mode and unable to find one of the "FREE" licenses that enttec likes to parade around their website but not actually make it user friendly for people to find. any insight on this would be great because I, like many people am new to DMX lighting and trying to navigate through it for my band but it seems you need to be Dr. in astrophysics to understand all this. Hope this reaches you, Thanks.
I would not recommend EMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got the subscription and it will not work with Ableton on a windows pc. Not being able to make your own fixtures, no chanel mask and a subscription. I will just keep using my already paid for and still working DMXIS
Can we use EMU in logic like we used to use DMXIS??
how can I replace a fixture brand?

How do you pull the emu vst up in logic i cant get logic to comunicate with emu. Any help video pleasseeee!
Sounds like a Logic issue...for some reason I thought logic doesn't use VST's?
@@LearnStageLighting it does

You will need to go to ENTTEC's registration page to activate it if you haven't already, that should take care of that!

Head to ENTTEC's site and grab a free license for EMU - they're starting to roll those out, and without one you don't get the full fixture library.
Thank you so much!

The fact I bought your hardware and then you conned me into a subscription is infuriating.
Get your program better before you start charging for it. This is ridiculous.
