Things to note/check: - 2013 & 2014 have a reinforced frame - Check HVAC blender doors (blows hot & cold with no weird noises) - Shocks for weeping/bad ride - have they been rebuilt (you'll know if its not driving well) - Shift in to 4H, 4L, lock the diff, turn on off road mode - Check both front and rear camera - See if they've done the fuse relocation (fuse 27) for the fuel pump. Its needs to be on a larger amperage (i forgot to mention this - you can also do this yourself for pretty cheap or have it done after purchase) - Check panel gaps between bed/cab and bed sides/tail gate
After 240k miles how's your transmission holding up? I have a 2014 and it has a quirky shudder at parking lot speeds or it might be that my converter or tranny is going
I bought a '14 Raptor 6 years ago with 45,000 miles on it; now has 92,000 miles. Only issue I've had is the blend door for recirculate broke. I removed the blower, took out the broke piece, taped door open, etc. Ford wants $1800 to fix! Maintenance wise, in the past 1.5 years I've had the shocks rebuilt ($1,100), did tune up (plugs/filters, upgraded from Sync 2 to Sync 3 ($535), flushed trans, replaced diff and transfer case fluids with AmsOil ($350), replaced idler pulleys/belt, replaced brake pads/discs with slotted rotors/ ceramic pads ($500) flushed brake fluid; all preventive maintenance. Using all 4 up-fitter switches, I've installed Rigid light bar behind grill, 4 3" Rigid cubes, Rigid flood lights (cut into rear bumper) ($2000), rear bed cover, alum, ($600), installed Morimoto headlights ($1,200), installed turn-signals side mirrors, fuse 27 relocation, etc...
Nice video but you missed some of the BIGGEST issues with 2010-2014 Raptors: * Sunroof slides off track, track actually breaks. * Back windows cable goes off track. * Fuse 27 fix! Can you leave your truck dead on the road if not fixed. * 2010-2012 Seat warmer burns out. * This is not a FORD issue but, if the previous owners installed lights and accessories, PLEASE check the cables/wires. I have seen horror shows under the hood.
Hey is it ok if teardrops of water go in from the seal on top of the gen 1 raptor as of rite now My tracks broke but I got it to align somewhat by loosening the torx bolts let me know wat u think
Good vid. There's a red 2013 raptor near me for sale. I figure if I'm going to overpay for a used truck, may as well get one that's badass. Considering what these sell for new, I don't think the markup is too bad compared to regular 1/2 tons. $35k vs $25k for similar mileage and condition, the raptor seems like the better buy.
Factory shock rebuild is recommended at 50k. And it goes down fast with off road and towing. I just bought a 12 raptor myself and am considering some of the rebuild programs
Congrats, got same great truck but in scab configuration. The rear cab light can easily be rejuvenated almost like new with Flitz metal polish or similar compound. Gets rid of that old frosted look. Can do on side markers too, works great. Have funnnnn..
@@CarsAndKyleVlogs Would assume so, but not exactly sure. If search youtube I think there is someone who had to repair this issue and goes over cost. From what I can remember he did upgrade and wasn't too expensive.
I've got the 2010 V8 6.2 Gen 1 Raptor SVT with suicide doors, and I've had it now going on two years, I've had little to no issues with it mechanical wise, but a few things like the drivers side seat warmer doesnt work, passenger side is fine though. The passenger side inside door handle broke, but it still functions, it just is in two pieces towards the back part of the handle and it looks bad on that part, but I have a brand new replacement for it. And you definitely want to have the Fuse 27 relocation done if the previous owner hadn't already addressed that issue, that isn't something Ford will take the time to recall, but you can take the truck to any dealership and they will fix it for you for a charge, or you can find a great video on UA-cam on how to do it yourself, I don't recall the guys name right off, but if you do a search on the issue "Fuse 27 Relocation" then it will come up for you. I don't notice the engine ticking when its a cold start when it's cold weather, but my transmission is cold natured apparently, because it takes longer to shift before it fully gets warmed up. That is an adaptive transmission that the dealership can reset to factory so it will learn how you drive, instead of the previous owner's driving habits. Also my TPMS's (Tire Pressure Mapping Sensor) are in need of replacement soon. If you have an owners manual on that truck I'd recommend that you read the section about doing the 4 high 4 low range changing. You have to place the truck into neutral before you shift it into 4 high or 4 low range. Congrats on your find though, they really are awesome trucks, but just like all vehicles on the road today, maintenance is the key to longevity of any vehicle, regardless of who produces it. I had 136,000 on mine when I got it. It isn't a daily driver though, my daily driver has over 1,000,000 miles on it currently. It's a diesel engine, made by Detroit Diesel. My Raptor is also the Tuxedo Black Metalic just like yours. You can get onto the Ford websight and get a certificate for your truck with the info of when it was produced in Dearborn Michigan, and where in line yours was on production day. It's like a birth certificate for your truck if you will. I got one for mine, it was about 40 bucks, but it's just something neat to have, as these SVT are collectables now. They are calling themselves Ford Performance now, no longer SVT (Special Vehicle Team). Hope you get long life and lots of enjoyment from your Raptor.
You didn’t even notice that you have Geiser or eibach springs up front. I have a 12’, bought with 60k miles for $35k otd in 2020. It now has 135k Miles and full suspension upgrades. No issues so far, just general maintenance.
Awesome truck! I am looking at a 2013 with 62K miles. Seems like a good deal to me from what I have been looking at. $44K. Black. Stock. Does that sound descent? Thanks!
There’s one that I’m interested in it’s in race red 2012 120k miles $32k. It has a lot of upgrades, 38” tires, 6inch fox lift, light bar and fog lights, aftermarket front bumper, side steps and rear bumper, intake & exhaust. It looks to be in great shape. Is that a good deal?
I guess it depends if you like the aftermarket items or not. If they actually off-roaded it, it could have more wear and tear on certain components. If it looks good and everything checks out the price seems pretty decent, especially if you like the modifications.
@@CarsAndKyleVlogs Yeah very minor rust underneath and some dirt I’ll ask how hard it was driven and taken off road. Has 4 owners. But I do love the mods and it saves me money and time to do it myself.
Yea you can run regular. They have a 36 gal tank which is huge compared to most trucks! And yes, i believe they’re metal just not sure what type- aluminum maybe?
Great video brother. I'm looking at a 14 with 71k on the odometer. I noticed with the a/c going and in park the engine seems to run like it's running at high rpm. Is this normal, have you experienced that? Thanks!
I notice in most cars if ur park with AC engine will run abit higher since when you drive the AC gets alot of aur from outside vs when ur park ithas to kinda suck in air
I find the fx4 with some aftermarket shocks and struts/ tires is equal to this 1st gen.
