Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
terrible engagement tactic out of 10
This is a clip of a movie not a video with zero comment/ context or commentary. No interpretation or insight? I think you are just riding on other peoples giz.

I thought I was watching Anchorman there for a minute
Anchorman came out just 2 years after this. They were parodying this scene.
Monks kick at the door and the music stops always gets me...😂
The little hinge squeak. 😂

The fact that Bill could fight so well without depth perception is outstanding.
Spoiler- they hugged it out
It's a great film! The opening scene is almost too good .
Daniel Day Lewis! What a master!
The intro is the only good part of the film, which is just a pretentious bit of Scorsese.
Daniel Day Lewis as Bill was frightening when you see him and his gang for the first time.
hw si frightening all the time...
@@oldmonkey7720 That's true!
Kinda hilarious that they walk past like 300 people, but only about 30 go to the battlefield with him
If you were a veteran you'd understand
Happened in a few scraps back in the day, every one is keen to talk but not many left when shit hits the fan
The rest are too insane to fight.
Because he walked past 300 catholics, and his gang the Dead Rabbits only made up like 30 men
The building was a former brewery the Irish turned into housing with more than 1,000 residents. Not everyone was a Dead Rabbit.
Hard for a film to live up to an opening scene like this one eh!
They don't look dressed for this weather.
They were all Canadian "Cold eh?"
They're going to warm up with by fighting
You can see it's fake snow.
@@rickrandom6734 it's a film
@@rickrandom6734 It's a movie. Do you expect them to build a set of the five points and then leave it outdoors for it to get snowed on? Of fucking course it's fake snow. News flash: it's fake blood too.
The biggest shillelagh I've ever seen. Mollywhopper for sure! (Except me own of course lads)
A shillelagh is of no use against an Irishman. Too hard-headed. 😉
The film would disagree with you.
This has some serious Ron Burgundy vibes
I saw that..brick killed a guy
Literally the inspiration of the Anchor fight
It's a good thing Priest took his communion before the fight.
They meet for a dance off, right? No violence ;-)
Seems a bit... distracting
Hey mom and dad, can we turn our beds into bunkbeds.
What if she sees me coming out of the shower and wants to try the young bull
We're gonna have so much more room for activities
I miss the era where the term goons was used to refer to bandits or mafia bosses underlings...
...and enforcers on hockey teams
We have some guys at work that are only good for carrying stuff. Goons.
Ah yes, "gooning" is no longer the respectable trade it once was.
Top 'o the marnin' ta ya boyos!
It’s really hard to take John C Reilly seriously after Dr Steve Bruhle
Or Oliver Hardy!
"Are we gonna be a grang fight?"
For your health!
Reilly is such a great actor, he can transform into any character and give a fantastic performance
Brave and willing...going into battle
I’ve watched this movie like 50 times. I have no idea what gang the guy says before “The 40 Thieves” guy.
The Chichesters
Yeah. Its a city on the south coast of England, named after Baron Arthur Chichester who was a very important Irish historical figure. So i imagine the gang is named after the man who qas instrumental in the expansion and growth of Belfast.
Every gang chose the guy with the gruffest, manliest voice to call out their name. You don't want to mess up that moment and pick the soprano voiced member to announce your arrival.
So, by the end of the movie, was Di Caprio's character representing Saint Michael casting out Satan, which was protrayed by Bill the Butcher from the paradise known as the Five Points?
woaaahh thats a good analysis

Wow, what? I've seen this movie so many times, including big screen and never noticed that!
its a glass eye...he taps it with his knife during the movie

Yes, yes, I am seeing someone about it. 🤕
I think the team with Wreck It Ralph will win
There's GONY going on now!
Where's the Spanish language news team?
When I first saw this scene, I just wondered how are the Dead Rabbits devoted Irish Catholics living in this quarters filled with vice. Moreover, the priest has a Son! 😂
The warriors 1900
I feel like its a serious movie but is actually a comedy
I believe the young boy in this went on the defend the gates of Jerusalem from Saladin.
Being an American is knowing the dead rabbits were the antagonists.
Without the dead rabbits and Irish america would have lost the civil war and there'd be two countries here
@@the_endgame I wish there was. Im from the south.
If two groups armed like that ever squared off, it would be almost entirely fatal. Maybe 10% survive with only life altering injuries
Medieval battles were like that.... not very lethal (but with armor and shields ofc)
Seriously. No way did they just line up like a bunch of psychos with axes in t-shirts
If you look at historical battles there was actually a good deal less death than youd expect, one side or the other would usually break if things looked too hairy and thats when the real carnage started
If it had been a battle to the last sure. But once the figure head was defeated and enough of an advantage was certain, the fight was finished. Something like integrity, previous experience in battles, and a desire to live would have compelled observance of the ceasefire. Mostly the desire to live would have informed the other two. The desire for power and reputation would be reason enough for Bill to give the order.
Im typing words into a youtube comment section.
Super fun movie, about as historical as waterworld
This is the Tall Hat Gang vs the Dead Rabbits. (for those who make a comment, I know the real name but I renamed them to the Tall Hat Gang officially).

Very off the mark historically in many parts. Marty took liberty with alot. Some characters were real people maybe skewed a bit but alot of the gangs were actual gangs then. Tammany Hall for christ sake was THE democratic party in Ny at that time. Some good parts. I dug it. DDL is a superb actor and i like the gritty feel. I feel dirty watching this movie and that is a big reason i like it i suppose. 🥂
You mean THE democratic party in Ny is no longer an "actual gang?"...
Tammany Hall then, Tammany Hall now.
so the kind PRIEST takes his 5 year old son to a life and death skirmich with medieval weapons
....Many
Not exactly a realistic depiction of history. Scorcese wanted to make his own NY Mad Max fantasy.
When simple minds ruled the world.
Where are the time haters?
They are like the crips and the bloods?
This is Christians vs Catholics. And Catholics were foreigners in America.
Was a great movie that I enjoyed very much…in spite of the hokey weapons and fight scenes
Not very historically accurate either.
Hmmm…can you say Brave Heart?
That's subjective and an entirely different circumstance and story. Moreover this has to be historically accurate because?
@@ignaciohayabusa8663 …and Did I say it had to be historically accurate?
This is exactly what Jesus would have wanted by his followers!
Half the Bible or more was war,
David was a warlord and a general before he even fought Goliath, God intended that. Do not be naive
@@Commonsensepreps that’s Old Testament lil man. Jesus would’ve crushed David with his ability. He’s Gods son David just got lucky.
@@HowieFeltersnatchMD I mean that's debatable, in the Bible, no matter what version you find, David is a boy who fought Goliath, in real life David was a war general and was battle hardened, so I do not believe Goliath would beat David, your argument holds little ground
Worst flute player I’ve ever heard
😂😂😂
I do find it strange a Roman Catholic priest has a son. Maybe he was Episcopal. I could get behind that narrative. He'd have to be a Scot, though. That'd be even better.
Priests are fictional.
Possible to join the clergy after, mate
I think it's a title. Like "Monk" is a title. I don't think Brendan Gleeson's character was actually a monk. It's like a nickname.
@@bunk95 You are fictional.
how do you do this to people man? cliffhanger? show the battle
Or just find another UA-cam video that shows it
fine i will watch Gangs of New York again 😑
Wtf i thought this was going to be an mashup with the Anchorman fights between all the different channel's news teams.
So were all the gangs that came to fight with the Dead Rabbits, were they all of Irish Descent? Could African Americans be in the dead rabbits of the time? (I ask because I saw some black people in the beginning)
Looks like the Brewery was a living space (slum) for immigrants, composed by an irish majority. There are some african people there as you say as well. When the gangs show up, they have mostly irish sounding squad names (O'Connel guard, Cheshesters?) what stands out are the 40 thieves, like the 40 thieves of Alibaba, they refer to middle eastern origins, they also appear to be darker in skin color to support this. Otherwise it's a mostly irish force.
Good movie. But I feel this is similar to Saving Private Ryan where the first scene is the best scene in the movie. Other than DDL's acting, which is must see, the movie is never as good as this and kinda drags by the end.
People with no hobbies
I will side with the Natives
I can't help but think how much better this movie would have been without DiCaprio (who was so worried about his 'pretty boy' status that he wouldn't let them use scar makeup after his character was "disfigured") and Cameron Diaz, who frankly, has never been able to act.
I’ve tried multiple times over the years to watch this film and I just can’t get through it. I’ve never made it to the end, I’ve seen plenty of clips like this but I dunno, I just can’t connect to it
For me it's DiCaprio. He just drags the movie down.
@@everwake2689 you guys are nuts lol
Movie is more than watchable, sorry it misses your comprehension
I can relate to the general sentiment but I found it entertaining and easy to watch, with some great acting and solid background sets. It's not compelling enough that I'd want to see it over and over, and it relies on you wanting to see the story unfold. Inconsistent character portrayal is a problem; Leo and Cameron Diaz aren't on the same level.
you guys have bad taste then, idk. This movie slaps
Were common folk really THAT dirty all the time? Seems very over the top.
😂sorry aber ich finde die Klamotten so dermaßen lächerlich... alles erinnert mich an einen eher billigen Fantasy Film und das kann ich auch null ausblenden.
"So warriors is what i brought" oh but GOD HEARS ME 🇮🇪 ❤🇮🇱
The title doesn't really make any sense. I imagine this channel is from a third world country.
Feels like a parody of Braveheart
Seems like you never watched the movie
I can’t believe they’d just line up like that. Makes no sense.
What about it doesn’t make sense
yeah why didnt they stand single file and 1v1?
It is likely meant to be the culmination of tension after a period of sneak attacks, unrest, and more familiar type tactics that had wittled away at both sides prior. The "Time to settle this" moment of an otherwise brutal territorial dispute. This was mirrored nearly exactly leading up to the final battle.
Well, not a charming portrayal of immigrants.
Dad grew up in a tenement on the east side. It was plenty rough, but nothing like this bestiality.
Most immigrants tried to avoid trouble
with the law. They didn’t fit in too well at times because of the language and cultural differences, but they tried. Grandfather always wore a suit and tie only putting on overalls at his construction job. He was very proud the day he got naturalized. He was not atypical. He immigrated leagallly in 1922.
Don’t believe all that you hear about immigrants- they helped build America.
Look at the time period and NYC was notorious for having slums filled with immigrants.
Men were Men. Not many SoyBoys in 1860's 5 Points. New York City,,,
The blood stripes on the pants especially for the youngling means more than any of you will ever know.

Great actors. Dumb movie
Spoiler: The Natives are actually the righteous ones and Bill the Butcher is the true hero of this stupid movie.
It was either like this and depressing, or it wasn’t and this movie is just bad
One of the worst movies I have ever seen. About as bad as the movie Rubber.
dumbest movie of all time.
this movie was stupid-----------------0
One of the dumbest movies ever made. Quite literally feels like that scene from Anchorman where the weatherman fight. The absolutely flat-angles and horrible directing don't help either. What's more, the early 2000s style editing is just the icing on the cake of this turd of a film. The Quick And The Dead had a similar issue across the board, though I will say that film is still better than this.
that blue vs red gimmick gives me AoE vibes
