While cleaning mine today, i realized the rubber litter catcher can pop out as well to dump litter in the trash in case you cant vacuum some gravel out! Its really flexible too so you can just bend it a little and out pops all the litter
I have a tip for anyone who has the Whisker app and trying to clean their litter robot 4 On the app, select the robot being used. And click the change filter (or the spot the odor beads are) that will put the robot globe upside down for easy cleaning and you're not unplugging the robot or fighting the sensor timing.
Just came here to say I took an adderal, disassembled my entire liter robot screw for screw, detailed it with cotton balls and paper towels and Natures Miracle and Clorox, scrubbed every single nook and cranny, then reassembled. It took me 6.5 hours 😅
A tip for apartment dwellers…..I don’t have to option if a backyard cleaning. I take my litter robot to a do it yourself car wash!! They work great! Wash, scrub, rinse etc. I silly pay about $4. It works great!
This helped me today to clean this litter box for the first time since I had it. OMG the stuff I found in it that was contributing to the smell. Thank you for your video.
In between I use Lysol Wipes to wipe the inside and my drawer for the doo doo gets pretty smelly so I soak with hot water and bleach and then rinse. I also find when he goes and that hole opens up to empty the smell can be very strong so I empty it a little more often then letting it fill all the way up. Thank you for this video exactly what I was looking for.
Awesome I was actually researching whether I could use Clean Paws Fresh Step because the litter particles are larger but I see you using it so I guess that’s a go! First time with a litter robot so apprehensive about the hefty price tag (good bye 👋 all dreams of a standing desk!). But every video I’ve seen convinces me that that this is genuinely well designed with both cat & human in mind. And thanks for considering that there are people without access to a yard and hose really helpful to see before I try to maneuver this thing around a small apartment!

I have a constant supply of these bags and would hate to have to buy the "special fit" sizes if I don't have to. Thanks for the video...Dave in South Carolina.
Any standard 10 - 13 gallon garbage bag should work, pretty much any bag that is large enough to fit in the bin around the clips will work. The standard plastic carry away / tshirt bags will be too small. I'd recommend garbage bags over large carry away bags just because the used litter will be heavy so you want a stronger plastic to remove and carry to the trash.
10-13 gallon garbage bags are fine. Just make sure you don't use the black ones. For some reason, I heard, they mess with the weight sensor to tell you the bag is full. Much cheaper!
Don't know about LR3 or LR4, but LR2 does NOT remember what part of the cycle it is in if you unplug it. As a result you must unplug it when it is in the rest position or move it to the rest position before plugging it back in.

Hello! How did the fresh step clean paws litter do in the litter robot 4? Could you possibly describe it in terms of dust, tracking, odor, etc like you did in a previous video please? Thank you!
I haven't noticed any difference between litter performance between the Litter-Robot 3 and the Litter-Robot 4. With that said I like arm and hammer slide ( amzn.to/3efvNgH ) the most for the litter-robot so far (as long as you don't mind the smell of it)
so two years have passed, did this litter box hold up well? my wife wants us to get one, i really like the idea but it is quite an investment - just wanna know how it held up
How do you make sure you get everything off under the storage litter flap? We have the LR3 and we just unscrew the flap out and deep wash everything. That doesn't seem possible with LR4
I have an issue with my LR3 where little gets caught behind the grate making it hard to clean with the hose. I made the mistake of hosing it off without noticing the huge amount of litter stuck in there and spent the rest of the day taking the dang thing apart and cleaning it. The LR4 looks so nice
I've never had a major issue with the LR3 like that. Some does get stuck behind the grate but giving it a few good shakes always got all the litter out for me.
I don't have problems with the grates but the wifi/app has sucked ever since it switched away from LR and to whatever it is now - I don't have it even installed anymore to know what it was called. I just monitor the lights and change on a schedule.
Is there a sifter with slightly smaller holes? That would be a big help because I'd rather add more litter during it's use instead of having small dirty pieces recycled when the litter robot 4 clean itself
Hi! You seem like you have great experience with the LR4. I just got mine and after one initial cycle it immediately went blinking yellow. I’ve done everything with the bonnet - clicked. Ensured sensor is clean. Nothing. Support hasn’t gotten back to me - looking for any ideas. Thx!
You didn't show the large black plastic lip being taken out or put back in. Now I have this extra piece that I don't know where it fits. The logical places don't seem to fit. Otherwise, great help.
Thank you for the video. Interestingly enough, I only paid around $200 when I adopted 2 cats who were being rehomed. The person who had to rehome her cats said they had gotten used to it, so she sent it along. The cats do use it consistently. The only problem I'm having is that there seems to be much more litter being kicked out onto the floor. I have the plastic litter guard that the cats have to step over to prevent that. I haven't changed the type or brand of litter. Any suggestions? Thanks. And yes, I so appreciate the litter robot. Other than looking like a portal into a parallel dimension, it really rocks!
We purchased the "litter trap mat" along with our machine- it catches about 95+% of the litter. It's a thick rubber mat with 2 layers. The litter falls through holes and is left on the bottom mat. You can vacuum right over the holes and suck out the litter or open the top layer to vacuum directly on the lower mat. We're very happy with this!
@@BeardedTechGuy Dr Elsey, and I'm using a litter trap. I'm wondering if I put too much litter in it so it's easier to kick out? Also, I've noticed that some urine is sticking to the inside. I wonder if I just need to do a good cleaning? I have 2 cats who both use it 100% of the time!
@@meditativejuggler does yours have the cover in the front? mine came with a splash guard that clips onto the front. im sure its a combo of them kicking it out and when they are getting out spreading it all over.
@@theamishhitman71 yes, it does have the litter guard. However, I've had electrical problems with it (turns off, weird light combinations) and after 3 instances that took more than hour each and at 2 am, I'm going to see if anyone will buy it or I'll give it away. The cats had no problem switching back to regular litter boxes.
I have a beta unit (so my experience could be different from others) and I haven't had any issues outside of some problems that were fixed with a firmware update during beta testing.
I know it's an old post but I hope you kept your little robot three ....I have both the litter robot three and four and much prefer the three. The design of the four is horrible... My cat's urine goes down the crevices despite the anti-Splash shield that has been added on as an afterthought It's just a horrible design. The robot 3 does not have the crevices and the issues that the four has. I am seriously considering trying to return this in exchange for another litter robot 3.
@@nathanpeters311 Hey Nathan....yeah I still prefer my 3 over the 4. Litter robot did work with me and sent me the huge splash shield which has helped a little bit but I still have the urine odor and some still manages to leak through the crevice.. I'm always having to give it a deep cleaning but the little felt pads just suck up the urine and it's impossible to get the smell out. I don't think I have ever really cleaned the 3 and no urine problem or odor at all. I highly recommend the 3 over the 4 and that is what I would get if I had the chance to do it over. The only real benefit of the 4 is it is very quiet when cycling. But that does not justify it's use for me....good luck with your decision. Many seem happy with the 4.....but I'm not.
So I have a seal strip stuck to the actual globe on the front lip. I dont see this in your video. Either you dont have it or you removed it with explaining. I post this because that is material that is stuck to the lip with adhesive and likely should not get wet. Did you remove it before cleaning?
@@BeardedTechGuy I never mentioned any metal. Look up what the seal strip is...It appears you have a influencer version that is missing this important feature that keeps listed from getting in the gap between the globe and the from bezel. That strip also means cleaning is made more difficult.
Ohhh that makes more sense, I read "seal" as "steal" originally... lol I have a beta unit which I thought the only difference was that my litter fence was 3D printed and the globe bonnet attachments are different. I was able to find a single picture of the seal and it looks to be just a fabric seal like from the LR3. I can't speak to the adhesive used so I'm not really sure if it would tolerate water or not. I also took mine apart and I have a seal on the underside of the lip of the base, but never had one on the globe itself. ( imgur.com/a/6soETWf ) Honestly, having a seal there doesn't make sense long term as the two rubbing on each other would cause them to fail quicker I'd imagine. I'm curious if it was a design change or if the globes having the seal on them was an assembly mistake.
You can use any 13 gallon or larger bag for the litter robot. I'm not sure what sizing is used for garbage bags where you're located but I'd imagine anything that's 50 liters or more should work.
If you're still having the issue I would press the reset button and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't you can try power cycling the device by unplugging it from the wall for 3 minutes and plugging it back in
there are two buttons you push in, one on either side about halfway down toward the front of the housing. Push them in and gently pull up. The housing on top hinges at the back and comes off. Very easy. To replace, put the hinge back in and close the top down, making sure to engage the clips on the side and the top middle.
If you follow this method, your litter robot will still be dirty. The main structure also needs to be washed and has electronic components in it, so be careful when removing the stuck litter from and washing that part. Also, if you're only gonna wash the globe, you don't have to unplug the machine from the wall, simply turn the power off. Hit reset till you see a white bar after adding back the globe and new litter, or else your scale will be all messed up.
First of all, you don’t need to wait to dry when you just clean with wet cloth, you just dry with kitchen paper , After I come here to see how to open for clean, and you don’t show, you teacher how to wash, for real? .. who don’t know how to wash anything dirty? 😊
You making this comment just shows you're projecting here bud. I do hope whatever is going on in your life that is making you be a crappy person to others, that you haven't even met or know, gets better. Life is too short to be that bitter and angry. Oh, and thanks for the UA-cam engagement 😉
As the owner of 3 cats and over most of my life, I was DONE scooping. Absolutely done. My cats would've been rehomed had I not found the Litter-Robot 3. I stretch the clean cycles to 4-6 months and have 2 of them for 3 cats. Litterboxes are dealt with every 4 days or by my older children. Scooping is nasty. Every time.

You can use any 13 gallon or larger bag for the litter robot. I'm not sure what sizing is used for garbage bags where you're located but I'd imagine anything that's 50 liters or more should work.
which is the robot?
i live in NYC i can’t clean it outside :(
I used a toilet brush instead the 2+ cleanings. Much easier and faster
Why is my litter on solid red. It’s all clean so idk what else to do
If you're still having the issue I would press the reset button and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't you can try power cycling the device by unplugging it from the wall for 3 minutes and plugging it back in
I use Up and up cucumber wipes
This video doesn't really cover how to get the top off to get the drum out.
there are two buttons you push in, one on either side about halfway down toward the front of the housing. Push them in and gently pull up. The housing on top hinges at the back and comes off. Very easy. To replace, put the hinge back in and close the top down, making sure to engage the clips on the side and the top middle.
The only part that’s confusing is taking off the cover and you don’t even show what your doing you just say “take If off” ha
I found accelerated hydrogen peroxide wipes to work great
For spot and semi deep cleaning
Didn't show me how to put the globe back in
Is that cat staring at u in background
If you follow this method, your litter robot will still be dirty. The main structure also needs to be washed and has electronic components in it, so be careful when removing the stuck litter from and washing that part. Also, if you're only gonna wash the globe, you don't have to unplug the machine from the wall, simply turn the power off. Hit reset till you see a white bar after adding back the globe and new litter, or else your scale will be all messed up.
No way mine is this clean! 😅
Why does URS look so clean already? Are my cats just nasty asses???
Do you have any high pee-ers? I have a male cat that does this and I'm worried about leakage
First of all, you don’t need to wait to dry when you just clean with wet cloth, you just dry with kitchen paper ,
After I come here to see how to open for clean, and you don’t show, you teacher how to wash, for real? .. who don’t know how to wash anything dirty? 😊
My cats won't poop in it. 🙀
Did you try putting some old poop in it to help them understand
I will try...they only poop in front of it.@@katiecollins4864
You strike me as a guy that says or has said….”I’m telling on you”.
Just the vibe I got, nothing personal.
You making this comment just shows you're projecting here bud.
I do hope whatever is going on in your life that is making you be a crappy person to others, that you haven't even met or know, gets better. Life is too short to be that bitter and angry.
Oh, and thanks for the UA-cam engagement 😉
All of that instead of taking 5 minutes a day. If it didn't have such a thorough cleaning regiment I might've considered it
He does a deep cleaning every 3 months. 5 minutes a day means 7.5 hrs of kitty litter cleanups in exchange for a 1 hour deep cleaning.
Every time.
I'd much rather do this once every few months than take 15 minutes a day to scoop the 6 boxes I used to have.
It’s great for the cats because the litter box is always clean for them.
You need to relax you sound like a robot lol
I guess the robocat is out of the crate! 🤖
