  • Today I'm sharing with you How To Make Edible Glitters at your home for decorating cakes, cupcakes and much more. These can be made with just three simple and easily available ingredients in no time. Unlike other glitters you can be happy that you know what these are made off. Just sprinkle them on your bakes and let your work SHINE! These are sparkly, shimmery and safe to consume. I'm also sharing with you how to make Glitter Strawberries using these glitters. So let's begin.
Do give this recipe a try and let me know how it turned out to be. Please leave your feedback as comments below. I love to hear from you all :)
    Ingredients (4 glitter colors):
    40g (4 tbsp) corn flour/ corn starch
    250ml (1 cup) + 750ml (3 cups) water (room temperature)
1-2 drops food gel / liquid colors (your choice)
    60x 20cm Acetate sheets (4 sheets / 1 per color)
NOTE : The quantity you get per sheet after grinding is around 2 tbsp of glitters. Hence if you wish to make more glitters for a single color, I suggest you use the recipe of 1 glitter color and spread the mixture on 2 -3 separate acetate sheets. Grind the sheets in a clean and completely dry grinder jar only. This is very IMPORTANT!!
For making only 1 glitter color then the measurements are as follows:
    20g (2 tbsp) corn flour/ corn starch
    250ml (1 cup) + 250ml (1 cup) water (room temperature)
1-2 drops food gel / liquid colors (your choice)
    60x 20cm Acetate sheets (2-3 sheets)
    Glitter Strawberries:
100g white chocolate (with cocoa butter)
    strawberries (washed and air dried)
    skewers
    Tips and Notes:
    1. If you can spread the mixture thinly on more acetate sheets, it will speed up the process of drying. In this way the sheets will dry within a day. You can also use a fan to speed up drying process.
    2. Please make sure the grinder jar is completely air dry before you grind the sheets else you will not get the desired results. This is very IMPORTANT!
    3. Make sure the sheets air dry at room temperature. Once they dry, the sheets will lift off themselves from the acetate sheets. That is when you know they are completely dry!
    4. Once the sheets are dry, handle them with clean and dry hands only.
    5. Store the glitters in air tight containers in a cool and dry place. If they come in contact with waters, these will dissolve.
    6. Use gel or liquid colors sparingly. Too much color is not good to in-digest. Although it is tempting to increase the colors for the glitters. These will leave stains in your mouth.
    7. You can make gold and silver glitters in the same way. Just use edible gold or sliver gel or air brush colors. If you do not have edible colors, then you can use gold or silver dust. Mix a small quantity of dust in 1 tbsp of water. Then add it to corn flour mix after it boils and thickens. Follow the rest of the procedure as shown.
    8. Sift the glitters, if you like them to be fine and powdery.
