My eight year old daughter is so captivated by your music and is now asking to learn how to play the mandolin. It’s so sweet listening to her hum along to your beautiful vocals! Thank you.
Andy… he sure inspired a whole new generation of musicians, didn’t he? So grateful for that man, and all the members of Planxty, and of course… Paul Brady ❤️
Beautifully done in every way. The dynamics of the performance build perfectly, and the glance at the camera at about 2:24 carries the weight of every woman scorned since the world began- Hell truly hath no fury like that… Can’t figure out why I am only now finding this amazing musician- I’ve been seeking out trad Celtic music for some years now, with a particular emphasis on Irish Bouzouki and mandolin material, and I would have thought the algorithm should have long since hooked me up with a body of work like this.
In the folk music tradition, it’s not a “cover” unless you are trying to channel someone else’s sound. That’s not what is happening here. This an original skillful performance that comes straight from the heart. Beautiful. Another memorable rendition is on the album “Now and Then” by the American folk quartet Trapezoid (yes, the name is a play on The Pentangle) from the late 70s. Give it a try.
I play mandolin, and you have really inspired me to practice and work a lot harder. I aspire to play like you and one day i will try and learn this beautiful song. Thank you 🏵️💚
Cheers my friend! My dad taught me a great trick for this. Slow down the passage that you’re trying to sing over and then start by just trying to hum the part you want to sing in your head without stopping your guitar accompaniment. Once you can do that, you try humming it out loud without stopping, and THEN try singing it… I’ve never found a passage this didn’t work on ❤️
Beautiful woman, beautiful music, beautiful ages to live...Edit : for anyone wondering what style of music and more I open my playlist folk middle ages songs & dances of middle ages , yes dances
This is great! I saw Andy Irvine a few years ago. I think it might have been the last time he was in the United States. He played this tune. It was amazing! Your version is awesome as well!
You are a beautiful, magical, being of the old world..love this music you are introducing to people who’ve never heard it before! You are a master player and vocalist! Please come to America and tour!❤
Much respect for this cover. My only regret is there couldn't be an Uilleann pipe providing the final melody. But one can only wish. Thanks so much for this cover!
where have you been hiding.. i love the way you approach those traditional songs. I have a passion for that irish traditional tunes. such a pity that were i stay not many people are interested in that music i am ploughing a lone furrow here.. thanks for the upload!!!! great stuff
One of my heart beloved song in such unbelievable female performance, greatly expressed all its sadness. It was really a joy to find you, keep on your marvelous performing!
You are utterly amazing. I’ve been struggling with guitars, etc., for years, but your technique is way beyond any level I could dream of. As perfect as I could imagine. Thank you so much 🙂
Please don´t. I am listening this video for hours. Why people always try rase up the perfection. I trully love in this song and the way You playing. 🌻🌻
Can't find the lyrics on the Internet, could you please send a link to the lyrics of this beautiful song? That song, as i heard it once, i immidiatly grabd my guitar and played it parallel to your video. But now i need the lyrics 😅 Ps: It's a masterpiece.
Just wow lady! I’ve never heard anything so beautiful and I’ve heard a lot! This is THE first time I am ever going to hit the bell to get notifications of your new uploads. Wow. Just wowowowowowoow! ❤
Great random discovery was you today after searching for Pentangle. Following you now here and on instagram : ) Greetings from Brazil Ps: didn't knew this versions, I think I only heard Pentangle and Steeleye Span
I found a little mystery in this clip. In time 2:45 I can still cleary hear a flute. I don´t now if is it kind of phantom sound from high volume sounds and all floting echoes, or is a singing some ancient celtic spirit. Maybe is this song already magical. 🙂
Women who play music are exceptional. This is what a man needs after a tough day with some good dinner near the fireplace and a kiss 💋 She is a real gem 💎
This is one of those times that you see an amazingly talented artist and for some reason they have a small subscriber count. The quality of the music on display is something that I’d expect to easily have 100,000 to 250,000 subscribers, even though it’s a somewhat niche genre. (Not criticizing here at all, this is the type of music that I listen to most often). I feel lucky to have stumbled across this channel, as it would have been a poorer world without having heard her music. I keep coming back to this song, Willy O’Winsbury, and her version of That’s The Way by Led Zeppelin. I think that this one is probably my favorite.
Superb technique on playing and on vocals. Watching this after your name came up on a Reddit thread as a great example of playing OM and singing. Was not disappointed.
Wow. I have watched many of your shorts, but they have all been instumental. First time hearing you sing and OH MY GOODNESS! Such a beautiful voice. I am very inpressed--but not surprised.👏
My eight year old daughter is so captivated by your music and is now asking to learn how to play the mandolin. It’s so sweet listening to her hum along to your beautiful vocals! Thank you.
she started lessons? My 8 year old just said the same to me listening to this... :)
It's an Irish bouzouki 🙂
Buy her one. Doesn't have to be expensive, just get her started. Music is a great thing to get into learning.
@@julienwester4768 how's it tuned? It looks the same as an octave mandolin or mandola
Great influence for your daughter!
Andy Irvine would be impressed I’m sure
🙏❤️
The solo is mindblowing
2:04 that mandolin part was a miracle part
3:32 it's too!
I think Andy Irvine might be surprised by who his successor is but he can happily retire knowing the future is in good hands
Andy… he sure inspired a whole new generation of musicians, didn’t he? So grateful for that man, and all the members of Planxty, and of course… Paul Brady ❤️
Seen his epic version of the balard of Tom Joad!!
Exactely
The way you build up the intensity of this is beautiful, Eva. Thanks for posting it.
I was like "shes not playing loud enough" and then....she was. Amazing!
No matter how many times I listen to this, I get chills 2:04.
Every. Single. Time.
Beautifully done in every way. The dynamics of the performance build perfectly, and the glance at the camera at about 2:24 carries the weight of every woman scorned since the world began- Hell truly hath no fury like that…

YES
100% amazing solo
I don't even know how many times I've listened to this today. That solo in the middle is godlike

Fantastic song, spanning the centuries! And you look like a woman from a renaissance painting.

Your voice and playing are absolutely divine. And this is a lovely song. As a guitarist struggling to sing and play simultaneously, Respect.

Another (earlier?) lovely rendition,
all it lacks is the dark butterfly to close the scene.
Just the sweetest voice I've ever heard. My goodness! 😍
I cannot stop listening to this song. It is so good.

It's not a cover it is simply a version of a traditional English folk song.
