William Marshal was perfectly cast for this role - obviously a commanding tall physical presence, but his deep voice and Shakespearean training shines in his delivery of his lines! Great actor!
Just saw this episode the other day for the first time and it's a favorite now. Entirely because of William Marshal, amazing actor and I love his voice.
A powerful scene. One of Trek's best speeches, particularly considering it was delivered by a genius, teetering, as you so aptly put it, on the brink of insanity.
