One of the greatest musicians of all time and I was lucky enough to share the same stage on his 1982 UK tour. Amazing memories, good luck with the album.
I had two tickets six rows from the stage in Portland Oregon. This was for my neighbor friend ten years younger than Glen himself. My friend died a week before the show. I didn't go, and kicking myself now. I just watch the movie I,ll be me and pretend l was there. When I watched the Wichita Line Man, l immediately go straight to Heaven!!!!!😄
0:19 “ ‘Hi!’ Remember that? “ How adorable and endearing is that? Longtime fans surely remember that, Glen. The opening to The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. Glen would pop up out of the audience, sing the opening line to Gentle on My Mind, and in an effort to be heard over the audience and the music, he’d say in a high pitched voice, “Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I’m Glen Campbell.” Over time, that morphed into “Hi, I’m Glen Campbell!” and became sort of a trademark line for him. We love and miss you, Glen!
His cover of “All I Want Is You “ from this album to me tops U2. Got to see his Farewell Tour , so glad I did! He might have missed one cue - awesome performance 👍
Times like these/foo fighters was written for him, dave just didn't realise that outstanding songs have the ability to move into different territory, that's no slight on dave btw, as glen said, "this is a helluva song", another example could be the songwriter diane warren im sure she is called, the song i don't want to miss a thing done by Aerosmith was written by her, in general a country song which I can figure then you hear how it can shift to another style probably by the artist or producer, that does impress me.
This album has been a real treat to listen to over and over recently. We all miss hearing something “new” from Glen, but this show really fills in a spot that’s been empty for a few years now. You can tell the early signs of the disease but it didn’t stop him one bit and his guitar playing and vocals were really on par this show. Would be nice though to release a Blu-ray of the concert footage ;)
I knew absolutely NOTHING about the historic Troubadour until I watched Rocketman. I wish there was video from when Glen played here earlier in his career. He got kudos from so many other artists from every genre of music. His abilities with a guitar are what every guitar player would love to achieve, just give the interview with Alice Cooper a listen and you will know I'm telling the truth. Glen and Alice were great friends who played a lot of golf together.
Flashy guitar players? They’re a dime a dozen. The same can be said about pop crooners. But every once in a while one sneaks up on you and captures your heart. Chances are, the snobs don’t like them. But whether their names are Karen Carpenter, Elton John, Neil Diamond, or Glen Campbell, or many others, their voices will live on forever because they are telling our stories. For the ones whose lives and loves intersected with our own, we can only say thanks for expressing the feelings we experienced but could not articulate.
Does this mean full shows werent shot on his final tour? I still was hoping we would get atleast a compilation of shows from the final tour there were enough great moments!
The album is fantastic! The guitar solos on Galveston and Witchita gave me chills 👍RIP Glen Campbell…you were one of a kind.
