Can't believe I haven't found your channel before. Love your excitement about Frederiksborg, our mist magnificent castle, and Kronborg our oldest. We have a lot more to show you. And you should go to Christiansborg where the royal rooms that the royals still use for official purposes, are open to the public. As well as you can see the ruins of the two first castles that stood there, underneath Christiansborg. Not sure whether the painting with the Dutch flag shows the Dutch rescuing the Danes. But the arrival of Dutch immigrants in Denmark in 1520 did have significance to our agriculture.
Both have something different to offer, Jro borgå has the fortress side of the old day. While Frederiksborg has the luxury side since it’s a palace and was only built for that.
Thank you! Last April we traveled to Norway (loved it) and my interest in all of Scandinavia was peaked. So now Copenhagen is on my list. Your appreciation of the intersection of art and history is inspiring.
@@DavionWest summer is a perfect time to visit. I hope you get to go. i recommend Bergen, the Hardangerfjord region, Sognefjord, Geirangerfjord, Alesund, Lofoten islands and Tromso in the Arctic circle
If you think that train station in Hillerød is beautiful, you should see the one here in Esbjerg (on the West coast)... It's design resembles an old castle or a _really_ nice manor house.
I really love the way you take contact to the people you meet, and as you said; Danish people will always help you and try to answer your questions. Or find another way to help you if they dont know the answer them selves. I can’t stand the many videos of people visiting Danmark without trying to interact to the danish people at all. Even worse when they walk around being anoyed about something, but not trying to solve their problems by asking the locals. Great video and I love your approach to travelling and making videos. Thank you. 😊👋🏼🇩🇰
Thank you for the kind words and support, it really means a lot. That was one of the things I noticed about a lot of travel videos, it just feels like a huge show off of being in a certain location. I rather have locals show me around and interact in the videos if they want to be. Have you seen my video on jelling Danmark? A local and one of my subscribers invited me to show me around, it’s one of my favorite videos because I got experience it from a locals perspective. 👋
Thank you for the kind words, that really means alot. I was thinking of going to Norway for a little this summer, I want to see trains and small villages. Any recommendations? I always feel like videos are the best when you have a local in the video.
It's actually heart warming to see an American who are really deeply interested in history. The world would probably be a much better and safer place if more people bothered to learn from history. One of the most important things about history is to learn from it to avoid making the same mistakes again and again. Apart from that, history is fun. You tend to get new perspectives on a lot of things. Your videos are great. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
I hope my video can inspire others to travel more and experience other cultures and learn about their history. I think it’s easier for people to understand more when they visit someone else’s country and eat their food and just experience in life versus a book you know? Thank you for the kind words and support ☺️
@@DavionWest Hans Christian Andersen once said that to travel is truly to live. I can only agree to that. If people around the world bothered to learn and experience other cultures and the history of other people, maybe that could bring people more together and bring some more focus on to how we can improve as human and how we can move on and develop in the future. These days, it seems the words from Terminator II ring true when the Terminator says that it is in the human nature to destroy ourselves. It's sad to say so but the time today seems to have moved more and more in that direction. Your videos are exactly what people need. They are informative and positive. I wish you all the best. Please never lose your positive attitude.
Yeah 7-eleven is everywhere in denmark you can find it at basicly every station on some of the bigger ones even have multiple in 1 station. The danish state train company (dsb) also cooperstes with 7-eleven to give free bonusses for a few different things

Ohh, you traveled to Helsingør (Elsinore) - that's my hometown 😊. Kronborg is quite stunning and it's placed surrounded by the waters of Øresund. I really love that you read about the places before you go. I do the same whenever I travel to foreign countries. The experience is so much better and my daughter is happy, because she doesn't have to study anything. The parties they held in the great hall could last for weeks and it was all about drinking and eating like maniacs. When they got full and couldn't eat more, they had a big bowl get send around and they used a birds feather to tiggle their uvula so they threw up, making room for more eating and drinking. They used it as a "party game" of sorts.
What were the train stops to the castles? And how long were the walks from the stations? Loved the video, thank you for sharing! Going to Denmark very soon, first time visiting one of the motherlands for me, and I’m so exited!
For Frederiksborg Palace the train station is Hillerød Station. For Kronborg Castle it’s Grønnehave St. (Helsingør). Denmark is full of old castles and buildings like that. The oldest fortres of Elsinore was build in 1420, by Erik af Pommern (king). 72 years before Columbus discovered America. The building you see today, was built 70 years after Columbus discovered America. Thats how old Denmark is.
U asked if the dutch was involved in the dozens of wars between Sweeden and Denmark. Well the dutch "lands knechte" were probably the best mercanaries in world at that time. They always sided with the weaker part in the conflict so nor Sweeden or Denmark could control and tax Øresund. The Great Belt was very dangerous to navigate, and dutch needed access to baltics to get the best wood for their ships. That is how Netherlands got involved.
Denmark actually had the highest KIA ratio in Afghanistan pr capita in the whole NATO alliance. Helmand.. Not great.. We should not have been there at all to start with tbh, but thats a whole other topic. D:
