did we also forget the old lord commander??? he just walked off and never got brought up again lol
I can explain it. Westerling is supposed to be dead at this point in the book. In the book, Cole became lord commander after Westerling's death, years before the dance and before he switched allegiances.
I am personally disappointed what they did with Jace. He basically was reduced to converstation: "Mom, I will go", "No, Jace, you can't". In book he was de facto leader as Rhaneyra was grievieng. They wanted give her more role, fine, but why on expanse of Jace? This is list of things that were his and were taken from him:
- he had famous line how he can't face Vhagar alone (given in show to Daemon)
- he sent Joffery and Rhaena to Vale and came up with idea of hiding his half-brothers in Pentos (both things given to Rhaenyra)
- it was him who named Corlys hand and persuaded him to stay at Rhaenyra's side (given to Baela; and I actually appreciate they wanted to expanded Balea's arc, but WHY this scene was not between three of them? It would still give Baela participation in the event and at the same time would not rob Jace of one of this important political accomplishments.)
- never went to Freys (he looked badass in that scene but this was complete filler and waste opportunity; he could be alongside Baela talking to their grandfather! I wanted Corlys & Jace scenes, I wanted them to discuss their family dynamics and family matters, and see how Corlys feels about his stepgrandson, is resentment solely towards Rhaenyra, or if it's on Jace also, or if Corlys proud of man Jace became)
- he came up with idea of Dragonseeds (in show he of course does came up with idea of looking for riders but he does suggests nobles, not bastards)
- he supported claiming dragons by low born with Valyrian ancestry and welcomed Addam and Alyn with open arms as his family (this still can happen but I am bit worried, because in 2x07 promo he doesn't seem thrilled about idea of giving dragons to anyone, so I am really hoping they don't gonna make him resentful towards Addam; I wanted see them bonded over their experiance as Addam is bastard who is gonna be legitimize, while Jacaerys is bastard who was claimed as legitimate - can I got at least this?!!!)
Jacaerys was great king material in book, and while show does accurately portray him as noble, dutiful and astute, it doesn't give him full justice - he did much more than was shown!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
Jace passing won’t be super impactful, just like rhaenys and others, kinda feels like the show is a poisoned gift lol
I knew it would be superficial with Jace after they rushed him out of the North after a mere 2 minute scene. Whether or not they wanted to pursue the Sara Snow angle, they should've at least given him time to bond with Cregan.
@@iSnipeJoe Rhaenys time was equally short in book and from seeing reactions I think her passing made impact.
Yeah I'm inclined to agree, I'm finding this show to be one of the most frustrating shows I've ever watched, cuz it's not a throwaway dogshit show that you can just tuned out off cuz it has no redeeming qualitys, in HotD I see the potential for a truly great show and occasionally it is but it keeps getting tripped up but really stupid things, I just want this show to reach it ls full potential, I feel there's something really special somewhere in here begging to be let out
It's frustrating when you can have an episode like Rook's Rest and then something as stupid as Rhaenyra going to KL to meet Alicent, or the neverending mess with Daemon. I really like the world Martin has created and would like to see so many of these stories come to life, but now I'm even beginning to worry that their handling of HotD could jeopardize future shows.
My girl Nettles 😡🥵
Yeah, I'm waiting until after the next episode when it's certain. I believe the spoilers but there will be time for that after I see the mess they make of it.
I heard they changed the plot of cregan stark
like they added him with the rest of 2000 strong men marching towards harrenhall to face lannisters and cole armies, if so that would be badass maybe cregan executes cole in s3
Great vid
More planning, dealing and scheming. Stuff just happens like when Jace got the North on his side. We don't see what went into it or the motivations of the other people.
This is common thread whether it be with events, or characters, we're not getting enough depth.
Sara Snow
Gotta love how they shoehorned the worst character of the show (Mysaria) into this season when they had real characters (Daeron, Cregan, and Nettles) that needed to be fleshed out and shown. If you cut 90% of Mysaria’s scenes, it wouldn’t affect the plot in any way because that’s how pointless she is.
I guess I’am happy to see fire and blood brought to life , but at the same time I’am disappointed, it feels kinda rushed , biased and politically motivated feels bittersweet I guess ( rip nettles )
Yeah, I was really looking forward to the series and wanted to like it. I can shrug off some things, but it's just a death of a thousand cuts with this show. I gave GoT the benefit of the doubt when things started going wrong, and won't let that happen again.
why is it only 8 episodes? tf?
There have been two different accounts. One was that the showrunners wanted to split up significant moments between seasons 2 and 3, so they shortened it, the other is that they were told by HBO to only do the 8 episodes.

Sick of Team Black
All these comments make me want to read the book to see what I am missing. The show is a real disappointment overall.
