- The search is continuing for six people missing off the coast of Sicily after the British-flagged superyacht Bayesian sank during a storm on Monday.
Divers are struggling to reach the cabins of the luxury yacht, saying there is a “world of objects” blocking access to the rooms.
Of the 22 people on board, 15 survived, six are missing- including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch - and one body has been found
Separately, it has emerged that Mike Lynch's co-defendant in a recent major legal case, Stephen Chamberlain, died on Saturday in a road accident.

there are some divers who are kept under higher pressure for week or longer to avoid de/compression cycli. the problem is transporting them undr pressure

i think what he meant is that divers stay 12 minutes at the depth of the boat (i do dive). though technical divers can stay longer but requires longer decompression, maybe they are weary of bad weather and keep dives short
Yeah, that reporter made no sense with that statement. You need several decompression stops coming up from 50 meters if you breathe compressed air.

I suspect that the passengers or crew had some of the windows or external cargo doors opened at the lower deck due to the hot weather (and it is very hot this time of the year in Sicily). As soon as the ship was hit by the wind and the swell, water poured in through those openings and with a 75m tall mast, it further destabilised the ship's centre of gravity, causing it to capsize in 2 to 3 minutes. People at the lower deck did not have a chance once the ship was flipped over and disoriented inside the hull with water rushing in to fill up all the remaining air spaces.

It may look funny to you but facial expressions are extremely important in signed languages because they enhance the meaning of certain signs and express emotions that will give better meaning to the message being conveyed. Facial expressions, gesturing and body language are as important in sign language as are punctuation, tone and inflection in spoken language.

I think there's a higher hand at work here. So this guy, the owner and his lawyer both drowned. The owner was accused of an $11 billion dollar fraud. He was acquitted after a trial that took 10 years to reach its conclusion. As a show of gratitude (or gloating) he invited friends aboard the yacht and it keeled over and sank during a storm.The other guests have nothing do with this of course. Karma comes to mind. The co defendant also acquitted died in a car wreck? Wow! This is def. karma. Just saying.

"Snapping the mast" would not cause the vessel to capsize...something put a hole in it such that the pumps could not deal with the ingress of water

The Ship builders are blaming the crew. While that may be a contributing factor the height of the mast made the boat extremely top heavy and far more subject to sinking

It’s really is such a disaster. Nothing but bad luck right to the end. My condolences to the survivors.
I do wonder, considering the yacht merely capsised so there’s a good chance that the hull is still watertight (wouldn’t have mattered anyway with floaters attached), whether or when the yacht will be raised to the surface. They can’t exactly leave it down there just because it’s easiest. It is still worth something (LIKE A LOT) for scrappage and recycling, let alone environmental damage with everything on board getting into the ocean. It needs to be raised back up.

I've heard that the keel was in upliftetd position, while at anchor. This seriously reduced the stability (GZ length)
What you heard, what I heard as well, was not seriously thought out. This yacht had a very serious keel. An immovable keel. Weighted with thousands of pounds of lead. The centerboard (goes up and down under control by the crew) within the keel was probably up while at anchor. Even a weighted centerboard, and not all CB's are weighted, would not have had much effect on the yacht's stability at anchor, regardless of it being up or down at the time. So I disagree with your "seriously reduced stability" conclusion.

Just one interesting point is that his wife is listed as the owner (not Lynch). Obviously he shifted the ownership of many of his assets to his relatives in the event of losing the court case with HP which would require him to pay back part of the £8bn acquisition cost. May be this wouldn't have happened had the ship was listed under his name or confiscated as part of his assets for compensation had he lost the case.

safety to make ocean journey safe they are still struggling to fully make it secure.even the rich can't escape from dangers of ocean.
I heard it capsized, so the keel at the underside of the ship must have failed in some manner for it to capsize, so it would have rolled over, then sunk, for a yacht with a mast that big the keel under the boat would have to be huge.
I know of 1 oil rig that sank cos of the water of a big wave that poured down 1 opened window. if the ballast is no longer in balance, things you turnin around very quickly.

It depends what gas they have in their cylinders, that will determine their decompression schedules. Even so, if you're using open circuit, aka scuba, and thats what it appears to be, you can only make 2 dives a day to 50m safely
