From my understanding looking at some of these videos is that there should be a digital speed input that reduces the assist at speed so that you are less likely to oversteer. Great Fabrication work!
This is over a year old now and I am guessing you've made some changes by now, but for others who are finding this later as I did, I have seen some videos doing this and they add a control to lesson the power. The original design uses a speed sensor and computer to tell the steering motor how much power is needed. I have NOT seen anyone create that DIY yet!!
Good Stuff 👍 Thanks Boss your video was helpful. Gives me ideas. By the way there is a module sold to send a signal to the speed sensor input on your EPS ECU, to control the assist level to the motor and decrease as you increase speed. Both as a speedometer cable sensor mod or a manual adjust potentiometer mod. Good Fortunes and Great Successes 🤝
Follow-up on the feel? Considering the same swap for my 260z...but worried about losing the vintage road feel. The parking maneuvers are a handful without anything though.
I have the same electric steering stock in my 2014 Prius c I could drive it all day with one hand and going fast wasnt a problem my 1987 rx7 doesn’t have power steering and it’s more jerky at high speeds than the electric I’d definitely recommend it

Thank you for this very interesting video. Frédéric, from FRANCE (I'm the owner of a 280Z coming from USA)

Damn thank you
so the Prius and the original steering shaft has the same diameter and same tooth pattern?!
What a great way to loose a finger with a cut off wheel.
I just did this mod but I used a Saturn unit, how much does the EPAS motor move when it’s helping?
any thoughts after a few months. how is it at highway speeds? thinking of converting my '76 620 pickup.
