Perfect!!! This is exactly how I like to do mine. This is beautiful work, I loved how you took your time as well as how neat and clean you were. Very nice!!! Cleanliness or lack thereof is what ultimately drove me away from local nail salons and encouraged me to start doing my own. After watching you work I'd gladly be a customer of yours for sure.
Outstanding work and great tutorial. And let's clear up something that a lot of commenters have mentioned (and obviously have NO CLUE what they are talking about) ... The skin at the top of the nail that is still alive is NOT the cuticle - it's the eponychium. The cuticle is the DEAD tissue that grows out if the eponychium and is in the nail plate. If you dint remove the cuticle from the nail plate, gel or acrykic WILL lift. Period. End of story. If you aren't trained and/or a professional nail tech, stop with the rude comments. LEARN before you comment.
Steven Rhodes so they would have to scrape the skin off of my nails & that sounds painful😖 goodness the pain we women go through to achieve perfection is downright shameful!!!
Instead of digging at the nail plate and picking at the dead skin with your pro-pusher, perhaps soften first with a cuticle remover?... Far too aggressive.
I have been making the gel for 10 years. And I refused the gel polish because of health and ecology. When the coating is removed, it turns into dust, which is essentially microplastic particles. There are also rhinestones, sparkles, etc. About the dangers of microplastics, I think, it is not worth talking additionally. Plus, the salons use a huge amount of disposable materials: cotton swabs, gloves, files and much more. This also negatively affects the environment, since these products are difficult to recycle. All this goes to the oceans, foul our planet. Recycling is unlikely to be discussed, for sure everything is thrown into one trash heap and not sorted. In short, there is too much harmful waste from one client! Let's take care of our Planet! And the nails, by the way, became much better, they got stronger! 🙏
I've never done gels before but im getting a set done next month. Now I'm not so worried that they will look terrible. I do acrylics myself so it's nice to see others.
Hey hun u did a very good job on the nails...sorry about all the ignorant ppl who comment hateful things on your video. U r going to always have haters .can't please everyone..but great job I love it. The outcome was gorgeous
I really like the look of those. Years and years ago I had acrylic nails and would never have them again. I never liked how they would get into the natural nail when using the drill for fill-in's. I also didn't like how thick and fake they always look, no matter who did them. These looked really nice at the end.
+Pablo Suarez Well there are ones you can just glue on. But its very hard to do them without the darn air bubbles forming, especially if the fake nail is a different shape from your real nail, the air bubbles will be really bad... Those simple, DYI glue-on nails do not last long, they pop off very easily. They are made for average people, with typical average nail shapes. But if you have a more unique natural nail shape and the glue-on nails are not the same shape as your natural nail, gluing it on and wearing it for a week or two can dent or disfigure your natural nail. It causes soreness and ugly dents in your real nails that take months to grow out. Which is why many people choose to have them custom sculpted like this, either with gel or acrylics. That way you can follow your natural shape. Plus again, gels and acrylics are stronger, they last longer. Even if you grow your own natural nails nice and long, you can still wear a thin layer of gel or acrylic over your own natural nails, to give them more strength.
+melissavalentine569 cheers huni,I have been doing my own nails for quite a while now,I have made my mistakes like everyone has but kept at it, the only thing I have been ummming and arrring about is to throw my tips away and just use my forms as my index finger and my ring finger on both hands are flat with the sides going down square so the tips have a gap in between which makes me paranoid about nail rot etc..... so I remove them give them time to completely dry and start again,I do leave my nails nude for about four to six weeks until my ridges begin to show sometimes and start again but I hate it,sometimes it is hard to go on what you see and read on here,I do like this tutorial as when I have a wobbly start I will remove and start again but this tutorial shows you if its not too bad it can be rectified, what do you think?

With acrylic nails, they glue on a top to extend the length and then cut it to your desired length and get to work. Gel is made from acrylic but it is much more forgiving and doesnt dry like the acrylic powder. With Gel you can take your time. Gotta work fast with powder.
Anyone who has anything nasty to say about this tutorial, needs to take a look in the mirror and see how sooo very ugly they are. This is a fantastic tutorial, which took a lot of time and effort to create and was uploaded for the benefit of artists who want to recreate this look. So to all those who are hating, please, send me a link of something YOU did better. I can guarantee you have nothing to back up your nastiness, except a jealous, and spiteful personality. If you've got nothing positive to say, don't say anything at all. The world doesn't need you taking up valuable oxygen. To the person who created this tutorial, KUDO's to you! You did a wonderful job, and there are tons of good people who appreciate your effort and thoughtfulness for sharing this. Thank you!
You said that so eloquently . I agree with you . Making nail tutorials takes time and work . People are plain ugly and jealous of others .... So sad ....isn't it ? She did a wonderful job .
These turned out amazing. I personally didn't think they would (but I think that anytime I have my nails done). Regardless of that, if it would have turned out bad in my eyes (the end result), I wouldn't have posted a hateful comment because that is simply not necessary. Either way I feel like you can learn something from this video even if you didn't like what she did with the cuticles or the end result. Also even if the end result would have turned out not as good, it certainly would have been better then anything I can do.
I totally agree with you. I just found it left me feeling, unless you really have the professional knowledge then dont try to do this at home. It's not for people that have zero experience. I am so surprised by the ugly nail comments. I thought yes looks like it took some time, but i thought they looked really beautiful after everything was completed. Not for amateurs, so perhaps the comments came from those with zero knowledge of home nail application. Look around at some other tutorials people, some of the nails were very thick and something i would not wear myself personally.
Gel and Acrylic are the same thing...just different chemical make up. Acrylic uses methacrylates whilst gel uses acrylates. Some gels use methacrylates. Liquid and Powder systems are longer lasting than gels and do not leave indents or damage nails if applied and removed correctly. The key here is to find a good nail tech. A bad one will make gel or acrylic look a mess and damage the nail plate. Gel is often favoured by nail techs because it's easier to apply. L & P takes months or even years of experience to get right. Having said that, I'm a nail tech of 15 years' experience and can apply a set of acrylics in under an hour. I rarely file to shape. I do all my shaping with my brush. But it takes years to get to that level.
The nail tech I went to said she did gels but it felt like the same process as acrylic...she didn't build up the tip, she glued on a tip and did an overlay with the gel...the other thing I'm confused on is that she used the purple liquid on the brush then dipped it into the powder to form the bead...idk man, I just want to make sure I didn't get played. I feel like I payed ten extra bucks for the same nails. And one more thing- I asked her (bc I do my own nail art at home) if it was best to remove the polish with pure acetone or a nonacetone & she said pure acetone. But won't that ruin the nail and dry it out?
Elena Betancourt gel is gel and powder is acrylic. There is no powder gel!!! She definitely played you sorry to say. There are so many "chop shop " salons out there, that I've decided to research and educate myself to do my own nails. If you have instagram look up nunisnails he's very good and explains the difference between gel and acrylic. Also watch out for acrylic containing MMA it is very bad for your nail. A lot of these cheap salons use acrylic with MMA. Because it is cheaper it's illegal in the US. Inr way to tell if your acrylic is MMA is when you go to soak off your nails they become really gooey and slimey. Acrylic is supposes to crystal up and wipe right off. Hope this helps
lol man am I glad I watched this before buying a gel nail kit, I recently bought a kit for acrylic tips (where you use the powder and liquid stuff), I was iffy about it at 1st because I had tried it years and years ago and messed it up and all in all just had a horrible experience. the store I went to was out of the gel one so I figured Id try the acrylic kind again seeings how it was years ago and my artistic & crafting skills have greatly improved from back then..now that I see this video and see what all the gels entail , lol im so glad they were out and I ended up with what I did bc I would have been so disappointed with the gels..wish there was a way to show a picture bc I did awesome especially for my 1st time, they look like my real nails, you cant even tell their fake at all and I was even able to make them nice and thin (I absolutely hate thick nails, not only do they look too fake but you also cant scratch an itch with them..lol)Loved the video, it was very helpful and the ladies nails look great!Im curious though....why gels over acrylic nails? whats so different about the 2??
I haven't done anything to my nails in years, just put healthy plant based oils on them and file them, sometimes buff them... how unhealthy will gel manicures make my nails, will they become dry and brittle? I would like to maybe learn to do it at home to save money and possibly do it often but if it is really unhealthy I won't do it... I will look for another option to have pretty, but healthy nails, any advice/suggestions? They look fine now I just am bored of them:)
If you do it correct and remove the product correct then there is no way you cant have pretty healthy nails when getting gel or acrylic manicures. If you wanna make sure that your nails stay nice and healthy you should take a good course before doing it at home, otherwise it might not be a good idea if you want to keep them nice and pretty :) you can also just pay what a professional technician demands, but make sure they are well educated and that you go back to them to get old product removed so you dont just rip it off and damage your nails :) I hope that helped you to decide.
It's it just me or I think acrylic nails are WAY better because you can sculpt and make them a lot more smoother and there is no gross tacky layer to wipe off and acrylics are nice and even. Also it's Easier to see when it is on the form also you need no curing light!! #teamacrylic :)
I just think this lady is wasting time a sculpt never takes that long if done correctly i got frustrated watching the video, there should never be such time wasting filing and more filing
why are people bitching, I have seen a damm sight worse on here. Admittedly it seemed a little long winded but they looked nice at the end I wished I could get my gels to look that good
Old school “sculpting!” That’s how I learned before I became a nail tech!! I learned with acrylic (I’m old) then when gel hit the market I switched to gel, I prefer it.
Beautiful! This is how I wish they would do my nails, but never get till my 4th or so fill in. I have very small petite hands and fingers and most of the techs make them to fat or burn my nail by trying to file them down or cut the corners of my nails with the file board. I stopped getting them done because of the pain and because they always lift with in a few days.
I'm training to be a Nail Technician myself and what she did to that woman's cuticles is effed up. Number 1 rule, don't cut off or rip off the cuticles!
Different people learn different ways... I personally have it cut, never one got an infection. Only reason why people get infections aside from the cuticles being cut, is when the tools being used aren't clean. Most nail salons reuse the same tools on different clients.
Well I have been a nail tech for 10 yrs and I always remove cuticle but you have to be careful not to do it in excess or it can cause your clients to burn during the application process.
You're not supposed to remove the cuticles, you push them back. Removing them can lead to infection. I know this and I have never done anyone's nails before.
I just love the end result have no idea why they make such a big thing about the cuticles the only problem i had was to read all the time, i rather listen and watch her doing the nails then to pause, read and then watch further because i don't wanna miss anything!!! Good job just love the end result...
I like how it turned out but I don't think you were supposed to cut the cuticle because cuticles are there to protect the nail so no bacteria gets in your nail and get a infection
You are correct. Any nail tech with proper training knows that cuticles should not be cut. Good for you for pointing this out. As a nail tech, part of the job includes educating the client. Cut cuticles can lead to severe infections. This may not happen but the risk is real and should be taken seriously.
Destiny Webb: Most trained nail techs don't agree. I'm realizing that while many clients today are interested in learning correct nail prep, which includes not cutting cuticles (live tissue), there are also just as many who are led to believe that poor nail prep habits are acceptable. In North America as well as other countries globally, governments are changing laws due to the high number of health issues that have risen from cutting cuticles along with poor sanitation practices in salons. Many techs & salons have adopted and changed their practices. I'm not trying to be confrontational here, and many readers view these posts and hopefully, people will determine for themselves (after some research), that what I am saying is accurate. Both nail techs & clients have expressed the same as myself. Let's be clear: Removing dead tissue IS correct, but cutting live tissue is definitely not! This is what I and the other posters are referring to. Let's keep the posts courteous, ok? 💅🏻😊
+TamaraJC12 i dont know if you went already ..but just a small tipp, be carefull with a salon...let them show you their reas results and not magazine ...you have to choose a good one i had a quiet bad experience with two ..and i only went to fix my damagned nail which doesnt grow properly and need a gel support...and that nail is really really thin ...and for some reason they ended up not buffing it but file it down pretty ruff ...so i ended up having pain :/ in case you already went , hope you found a good one :)
Ri Qu I have had a bad experience with one so idk if I will be back at another salon. That is the main reason why I do my own nails. I spent 3 hours in the salon and as soon as I stepped out and put my shoes on my toes smudged smh.
TamaraJC12 thats the same reason i do them myself aswell XD but still learning tho and its not as expensive for me i got only that one nail which needs support , and it ends up more expensive with one nail them compared with making them all :/ and they explain it as "its because its the same effort and takes as long as doing them all" ....and then i was in there for only a half hour -_- nice try guys
Jessy Melendez the gel wouldn’t adhere to the nail plate on a shiny surface, it’s light buffing to make a mat surface on the nail plate, it does no harm. I’m a qualified Nail Technician, we do this when applying Gels, Acrylics, Gel Polishes etc. The products just wouldn’t work without it and as a cosmetologist, you should know this. It’s all about the preparation, the nails are only as good as the prep.
My daughter wants gel nails so being a dad I had no idea what they were. My research has led me to think that the end result is not attractive . the nails look more like claws.
I believe they make shorter nails as well... *researching as well because it turns out I couldn't keep a conversation going with my friends and I might was well be a dude*
Also, you can get gel polish in just her natural nails. That's what I do- I dont ever do the extension unless I really want to. So they can just paint only her natural nail and not extend it.
I have never seen this version of gel or acrylic for that matter before today. WOW! Talent! Beautiful!!!

You did a good job and u loved how u used the clear polish
This tutorial is perfect! Thank you!
Those are gorgeous natural looking gel nails.
The finish product was beautiful and all of y'all know it, it might have SEEMED like they were going to be thick but they clearly aren't.
Beautiful work!! I love the consistancy in your smilelines!
Magnifique!!!! I love the finish !! Bravo
Nice
Nice
I know this is a late post..but her nails look so natural and beautiful!!😍💗💖
It's it just me or I think acrylic nails are WAY better because you can sculpt and make them a lot more smoother and there is no gross tacky layer to wipe off and acrylics are nice and even. Also it's Easier to see when it is on the form also you need no curing light!! #teamacrylic :)
i agree. gel looks like so much work, all that curing, no thanks
its the same process as acrylics and acrylics are heavy, chippie, and hard, gels are soft, light, and chip less.
Yes,but gel makes your nails shiny.
I just think this lady is wasting time a sculpt never takes that long if done correctly i got frustrated watching the video, there should never be such time wasting filing and more filing
i love acrylics with a gel overlay
Good instructions, also good music, best I've heard.
I was like.. wtf is this v.v but the result was beautiful :D
I don't do gel nails but I do want to! These nails ate gorgeous. Lots of steps though! Xxx
CAN YOU PLEASE DO MY NAILS PLEASE YOU DO THEM SO GOOD!!!
the most beautiful gels I have ever seen!
I took so long just applying the foil!!
I don't do gel nails but I do want to! These nails ate gorgeous. Lots of steps though! Xxx
Omg I love the nails I want them so bad
Do you have a list of products used.
these are gorgeous.. i want gel nails for my bday
why are people bitching, I have seen a damm sight worse on here. Admittedly it seemed a little long winded but they looked nice at the end I wished I could get my gels to look that good
Love these because they are so natural looking. Thx.
Do we really have all these type of equipment and so in Nigeria here. I love this work
They look gorgeous!
Dry cuticle removing not only hurts, but can be a health hazard.
Very nice..dont listen to anyone..each master has his own way and techniques,as long as the customers are happy..:)
So pretty!!
But u shouldn't put the activator after the gel instead of the uv lamp?
beautiful result and very natural! keep up the good work
beautiful nails
Old school “sculpting!” That’s how I learned before I became a nail tech!! I learned with acrylic (I’m old) then when gel hit the market I switched to gel, I prefer it.
طلع شغل المنكير بلصالونات هم يتعب 😂😂😂😂😂 عبالي شغله تافهه 🙈
A lot of Nail technicians do that I have noticed
Im a nail tech as well and they thought us to cut off all cuticles.
***** If you want your client to have an infections than that's all up too you.
Das hast du wieder GUT gemacht, Lyni :). Gute Arbeit, schönes Resultat.
Anything would look good on these pretty hands with pretty fingers
I love it seems as though it was going left at first but it turned out just right good job
Just a male passing through, don't mind me.
Any others that got lost here can follow me out if they feel like it.
I wish I had you near me, great work!
You're not supposed to remove the cuticles, you push them back. Removing them can lead to infection. I know this and I have never done anyone's nails before.
Wow! I love the result! I want to do this to my nails.
I just do not understand why you do not mention the products so I could not find any use on thie. Sorry.
شكرا
thank you for your comment😐
Watch this lady, she mention all products, she is using...Anna's Nail Art, Beauty & Travel
Clara Knott . i want to know the products too
Clara Knott I think she's using Young Nails Synergy Gel System. Hope this helps!!!
I trim my cuticles all the time and my nails are long and healthy. You just have to know what the hell youre doing.
Sorry geez...
You are correct. Any nail tech with proper training knows that cuticles should not be cut. Good for you for pointing this out. As a nail tech, part of the job includes educating the client. Cut cuticles can lead to severe infections. This may not happen but the risk is real and should be taken seriously.
I knew i was right!
:)

This is very insightful! I want to get my nails professionally done soon so this is giving me an idea of what to expect, thanks!
+TamaraJC12 i dont know if you went already ..but just a small tipp, be carefull with a salon...let them show you their reas results and not magazine ...you have to choose a good one
i had a quiet bad experience with two ..and i only went to fix my damagned nail which doesnt grow properly and need a gel support...and that nail is really really thin ...and for some reason they ended up not buffing it but file it down pretty ruff ...so i ended up having pain :/
in case you already went , hope you found a good one :)
Ri Qu I have had a bad experience with one so idk if I will be back at another salon. That is the main reason why I do my own nails. I spent 3 hours in the salon and as soon as I stepped out and put my shoes on my toes smudged smh.
TamaraJC12 thats the same reason i do them myself aswell XD but still learning tho
and its not as expensive for me
i got only that one nail which needs support , and it ends up more expensive with one nail them compared with making them all :/
and they explain it as "its because its the same effort and takes as long as doing them all" ....and then i was in there for only a half hour -_- nice try guys
Ri Qu I spent $70 the first time and $60 the second time and that was the last time.
TamaraJC12 thats my opinion exactly! you go girl!
paying so much and getting a horrible result isnt worth it
I'm a Cosmetologists and what she is doing is nothing but harm to the nail plate.....horrible
I thought so too
Jessy Melendez the gel wouldn’t adhere to the nail plate on a shiny surface, it’s light buffing to make a mat surface on the nail plate, it does no harm. I’m a qualified Nail Technician, we do this when applying Gels, Acrylics, Gel Polishes etc. The products just wouldn’t work without it and as a cosmetologist, you should know this. It’s all about the preparation, the nails are only as good as the prep.
I cant understand properly i want this is gud for nail r bad??
You did a wonderful job. Well worth the watch
What a mess tgey made of her cuticles!
Wow. You are quite an artist, and amazing at your craft. Gorgeous! Wish I lived near you....I would get me some!! ;)
Also the nail bed is "bumping" pout loads compared to the tip andddd.. There's no curve in the nail!!
The end result were some beautiful nails.
So they can just paint only her natural nail and not extend it.
canadaeast There are a lot of different shapes you can ask for instead of the 'claws' in this video. It's just a very popular style.
This comment made me laugh😂
canadaeast that dependes who made it
I'm watching a whole bunch of beauty videos for cosmetology class. I never seen anyone with gel nails before.
Cake Is Real you probably have, you just didn't know it. they're very common to get done
