I found Neon Demon visually stunning. I also loved the synthy 80's score. I had higher hopes, I loved the director's movie Drive, but it's been a steady decline since that one.
In regards to The Neon Demon exploiting female nudity (which let's be honest, that scene was for the men) while criticising it at the same time, you make a good point. So many productions are guilty of perpetuating the thing they are criticising, specially behind the scenes where people have no voice. Fairly recently I worked on a big budget TV show that was meant to be this super feminist statement about women supporting other women but at the same time behind the scenes they hated each other. The female production designer who is a well known bully here (think body shaming, lying, manipulation, verbal abuse, discrimination...) made her male producer friend fire the set decorator for no reason and after that, because of her influence, she indirectly caused her to get fired from two other shows simply because she didn't like her. The female director didn't speak to the production designer and vice versa so we'd get stuck in the middle of these two grown ass women who were telling us to do two different things but wouldn't sit and talk to come to a decision. The female buyer treated other women like sh*t. One of the female art directors was so awful that she made someone leave the industry and pretty much nearly gave her assistant a breakdown and after her assistant talked to other people about it her husband called her to harass her for talking shit about his wife. Then in interviews they were all like "this is a show about women supporting other women because that's our message", or "we have to create a good environment for new people in the industry". And I'm sitting here like, if people only knew the hypocrisy of y'all preaching feminism in front of the lens meanwhile behind the scenes you were treating other women like crap.
Kylie, great vid. It's always sunny in Philadelphia is great. (Oh, I watched The Wrath of Becky on the weekend. It's pretty good; I enjoyed it.) I'm now in the midst of watching Get Out. It's such a good film. Night of the Living Dead is, of course, a classic. All of George Romero's films are interesting - and worth a deep dive. Kylie, I'll check out Species. It sounds pretty good.
The bottle episode of mythic quest with jake johnson and cristin milioti is worth watching just to watch the light die in his eyes. Lol. "A dark quiet death" if people have apple. Dont need to watch the rest of the series its pretty separate in the characters amd story but ties in themes
I ❤️ The Lovely Bones. Never read the book but if I did I'd never compare the two. I was planning to read it this Fall sometime. The movie has a soulful vibe to me. I appreciate the homage it pays to dead and missing girls, and I really dig the nostalgia factor. Suzie's sister is a badass cuz of what she did. Stanley Tucci was nominated for an Oscar for his role. I've recently spoken to young women who were like 10-12 when they saw the movie and it scarred them emotionally. I saw it when I was an adult but I can see why a kid would be scared by it. It's actually one of my favs but then again, I like movies that bridge the gap between the spirit and living world with an emphasis on family connections and working out karma like in Ghost, the OG Flatliners, and Insidious. I also just watched Neon Demon and can't say I will ever watch it again. I think the director is a crazy phuck who gets to make movies cuz he's a dude and a lot of people like really phucked up movies so he'll probably have a fan base forever. I used to like Drive but not so much anymore. It was a phase to me. Happy movie watching.

Totally agree about Son of Frankenstein being the best of the trilogy. I think it's a combination of the production value, longer run time, and better characters. I found Wolf von Frankenstein a much more relatable character than his father. Bela Lugosi's Igor was a really fun villian. I'm also a big fan of the monsters new fur vest too. 😂
I'm also not a huge fan of bride of Frankenstein. To me it feels like they had this new tech and were just dying to use it. I'm speaking of all the miniature experiments the Dr was doing. I would have loved to see more of the bride . She's seriously only in the film 3 minutes? I kind of wish she would get her own film now. Universal had an amazing idea with the bride of Frankenstein haunted maze fir universal horror nights. In this maze we saw what happend after Frankenstein is killed by the villagers at the end of the original film. The bride goes on a journey to collect the blood of Dracula to bring the monster back to life while taking out most of the universal monsters in the process. Simple but the art and new visuals looked amazing. Anyways I feel like the bride deserves better.

Love/hate for me but I like it more now than I did when I was younger.. another "weird" Ricci role but Lucy is the only character in the film I actually feel bad for unless I'm forgetting a character.. and Johnny Depp's performance is just different lol he left earth in that film, Del Toro too.. and the soundtrack is great.. Back to the Future trilogy is classic.. the original is obviously super classic.. I really like Part 2 except for the weird first act, their interpretation of the future was mostly a miss, but oh well.. Part 2 is lowkey pretty dark too which kinda works imo.. and I was personally never a fan of Part 3, I'm just not.. but yeah Biff does carry Part 2 lol.. I recently saw The Invisible Man, wish I could say I liked it, but it's not bad.. I think the world of Elisabeth Moss as an actor but I feel like I was missing something.. I personally found some the filmmaking and sound design to be annoying and cliché, but what do I know? lol.. it is a film that I could see myself appreciating more on a second watch if that ever happens.. Species! I always forget about that one.. I saw that film 2-3 times when I was 12-13 and remember loving it, but I honestly don't remember much about it besides Natasha Henstridge.. I see Michael Madsen is in it which is cool.. maybe I'll give it a re-watch one of these days.. never saw any of the sequels..

i found House of the Devil and The Lovely Bones extremely boring. HOTD was well directed and acedr but it was to slow for my liking. also glad we agree on The Lovely Bones. that movie was so bad but hey mom and sister liked it so that's something. also i'm a guy but i wouldn't mind being a victim of Tony Todd's Candyman. nobody judge me lol
I felt the same about drive away dolls like i really wanted to like it and it does have enjoyable scenes but felt kinda flat overall and being from texas lol the accent aint the worst ive ever heard
