That hike was crazy! I honestly never thought of England having hiking trails like that. This is now on my bucket list. Great stuff!
Thanks so much! We definitely support adding it to your bucket list :D And that was only the 3d highest peak in the park...we can only imagine what other other two hikes must be like 😳
I did the 3 peaks challenge last year, that's the highest in scotland, england and wales in 24 hours!
I find Helvellyn harder than them all!
England is full of beautiful mountains and hills :) you will love it if you make it to the lake district
Far better places than the lakes.
@@momentsintime341 Few better places than the lakes.
Great video, thank you for promoting the north of England! You all seem like great guys!
Thanks!
Hiking in the UK is the best!! Great scenery and you meet amazing people on your way!
I grew up in Cumbria, at most 10 minutes away from the Lake District, so I'm used to areas like this. It's interesting seeing how other people react to this place, it really is a wonderful area.
These sights are absolutely breathtaking!!
We agree...and we only scratched the surface up there! There are so many more hikes, towns and walks to explore :D
this England, this precious isle.
Omg- I almost spit out my coffee watching Matt walk down the mountain with his right leg out.
That view above the clouds and the time lapse was amazing! The hike looked pretty dangerous at times but I’m glad you made it and could show this to us :) And your friend Matt is one funny character 😂
Britain has the best hiking if you like calmness and not having to fear anything but nature itself.
I’m inclined to agree. It’s all so accessible and easy to do in a day with a nice roaring fire in a welcoming pub at the end. The only shame is how most of UK forests and natural vegetation have been cleared for grazing. It makes for nice views I suppose.
I can't believe this was 3 years ago! How time flies. - These were the videos I first watched before I subscribed. Hope to see you back here on more adventures when all is well with the world.
Amazing landscape love England can’t wait to do some hikes in England on my return trip 👍
I've been up Helvelyn loads, both on my bike and hiking. It's funny you got a guide, as it has really well marked paths and a tonne of people walking them, so pretty hard to get lost. I miss hiking in the UK, the mountains may lack in height but there's a huge network of old paths, meaning summits are accessible and you can be up and down in a day - usually with a nice old pub with a log fire to welcome you at the end. I live in NZ now and a lot of the hikes here are a lot more extreme.
The shadow of yourself projected onto the mist is called a Brocken Spectre.
Crazy, had no idea there was a name for that!
I once saw such a spectre of me, in the mountains on the Isle of Skye. It was contained in a small and almost completely circular double rainbow. Magical !
That was a crazy hike through the clouds but so worth it for that view! Stunning! Thanks guys.
Definitely worth it! But we probably won't do it again for a while haha!
Meeting with a viewer how fun!!! I love when we get a chance to meet new friends that are on our channel. So so awesome you could do that. Great job hiking up that phew!!! -Ash
Oh man, the entire time Eric was editing the video we were like, "did we really do that?!" haha!! It was our first time meeting up with a viewer and it was so cool! We're definitely hoping to do it more often :D -Allison
Aww I’m from Cumbria living elsewhere in the uk now and this made me so homesick
Oh man, a few times that hike looked scary dangerous.
You should visit dorset. One of my favourite places to visit here. Some of the smaller seaside villages are amazing
you where right about the dying bit , quite a few people fall off striding edge every year and lose their lives , it is lovely up there though like you saw and you had a quite rare brocken specter thrown in too :D , I've been hiking up there for years and never had one of those
I've been hiking all over the UK for ten years, and I've still never seen a cloud inversion or a broken spectre! You guys were so lucky, glad you had such an amazing time! Except for the ankle thing, obviously.
6.34 - that's Red Tarn. I camped overnight there in 1994, when I was young! :)
Wow...this is amazing, guys
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I LOVE The Lake District!! We're hoping to get back there this year 😊
Oh man, we do too, now! We had no idea we'd love it so much!
If you get back here, Visit Warton cragg, George Washington's family was from here, the only pub in the village is named after him, the church has his family tree on the wall. Or Whitehaven where John Paul Jones "Attacked" the British mainland in the war of independence, the US navy hoist the stars and stripes there every 4th July in his honour.
69waveydavey awesome!
The Endless Adventure Great video, great story. Thank you very much! Now this place is in my travel list. ☺ ... hmm can you please say, what camera, kit did you use to make this video?
guys I'm so gutted but pleased at the same time that I have just found your channel. I could have given you some tips for your visit. I live here in the lake district and I love meeting people from all over the world enjoying the place I live and work in. I do hope you come back and visit again. thanks for all the videos your making.
Great video, not sure Tim should have taken you up Striding edge and down Squirrel in winter when he didn't know your skills, it can be deadly. Glad you were all okay and enjoyed the day.
Hey guys!! You are just up the road from me, I'm in Carlisle just 20 mins away. That is a big hike that one, my son loves it!! 😁
You live in such a beautiful area! We didn't quite know what we were getting into with that hike...but I think it was probably for the best because we might have been too scared to go had we known just how big it was! We'll definitely have to come back to the lake district. There's so much more to see 😍
I travelled around South Cumbria 2 years ago, the views are beautiful there, especially in Coniston. I went solo, but wish I had friends who were into hiking as well! I think sharing the experience would have been great! Brilliant video by the way! I'm going to go back again after watching this.
+TaylorMade that's awesome! Really hope you get back 😄
come back and see us here in the lakes. one thing I love is going out walking and meeting the people from all over the world enjoying the beautiful place I live in.
The drone shots in this video are exceptional. So good.👌
I live fairly close to there on the West coast of the lakes - we used to have a view right down the Ennerdale Valley - when the cloud collected in the bottom of the valley, over the water, I used to tell my small children (they are now 25 and 22) that it was the breath of a dragon that lived down in the valley - it can look spectacular
My heart is in the north of England but moved to Herefordshire the people are not as welcoming to outsiders so I am selling the house and moving back up north to save my sanity and I miss the Lake District so much.
Absolutely Insane! That was a really awesome hike
Ya, I think we're hooked on hiking now!
Beautiful great footage 👍
Wowww nice hiking !!!
“We’re about to get all mountain goat up in here” best Eric saying so far 😂
glad you're seeing the things that make England amazing, not just going to the palaces
that was a genuine balls to the wall adventure. But I bet those views were worth it.
Must have been real joy. Great presentation.
Reminds me of this crazy hike I did a couple years back. It was super intense and I was not prepared...I couldn't really walk for 2 weeks after but I did it and it was amazing! lol
I remember a hill walking weekend some years back. We stayed in glenridding for a walk across Helvelyn.
The pub had two bats and a pigeon flying around inside. We stayed in a bothy and froze! Great time though.
PS Just a house spider...cant hurt you.
Why did you guys do Helvellyn Ridge slap bang in the middle of winter???! lol you nutcases!!! You should try it in the summer... it's still a bit scary in places but at least you'll be able to see all around you and do it in a t-shirt and get a tan ;)
+SgtSteel1 we're just happy it wasn't snowing on the mountain!
Near the top of the mountain there is a name engraved into a rock near enough next to the lake up there for my best friends Grandma and I travelled up there with him last year and the view was magnificent.
What an amazing place to have your name engraved! Glad you all were able to see it :)
Lol I live in England and i had no idea this even existed, damn I should check out my own country more often.
Beautiful. Great music too.
Fantastic video with some stunning camerawork, certainly gorgeous up there :)
Wow lucky guys. Must’ve summited Helvellyn 100 times and only ever seen 2 cloud inversions.
The view from the top was incredible!! I want to do this now!!
If you ever get the chance, we highly recommend it!
Have you guys ever been to Wales and Cornwall? if not def recommend, both awesome and great views. Most tourists only stick to London, I admire you for exploring more places and proper English countryside.
We haven't, but they're both high on our list!
Snowdonia in Wales is truly beautiful any time of the year, check out Llandudno and Holyhead as well when you plan your travels in Wales. Cornwall avoid winter (rains all the time) and August (thousands of families with kids) but the coast is better than south of Europe fancy holiday destinations.
WOOHOO! FIRST in the comments box! lol.... So cool you were in the clouds!!!
really nice video. im glad you show the nicer parts of the uk in your videos, instead of just London. :-)
I think I wet myself watching you climb next to those cliffs !! :-O
Same, moss in particular is very slippery.
It was so much more terrifying than we thought! 😮 We're pretty glad we didn't do a lot of research before we started the hike, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gone haha!
This vlog makes me want to get my hiking boots on and head North.
Strong lyrical flow... 💪🏼
I went up there in November last year it was so much fun
I came from funforlouis but the quality of your vlog's are insane
+Marshall Morgan thanks so much!
Helvellyn is a tough walk.
Don't know if you managed to get there, but if you didn't, you guys really should check out the Scottish highlands. They're like the Lake District on steroids!
wish you'd filmed more of the sheep altercation, when I've seen sheep they've never been that interesting
Hahaha! We accidentally learned so much about sheep up there. They are quite adorable and silly creatures 🐑😂
The Endless Adventure who knew sheep had gang mentalities, hilarious:-) you must come to Yorkshire sometime where I live it's lovely and plenty of sheep:-):-)
Loving your videos and I'm from the UK! haha seem like such genuine people! That place reminds me of american werewolf in london!
Aww, so glad you enjoyed it!! :D It was an absolutely amazing hike!
Well, the weathers not quite The same as some recently, but it sure is an Area of England with an almost mystic aura around it, Special. I admire you guys for showing different aspects of travel--from scuba diving amongst corals one month to hills in England. Great stuff.tramping up
Thanks so much for adventuring with us Billy! That's definitely our favorite thing about traveling...realizing that whether you're on the coast or in the middle of the country, there are equally cool and awesome sights to explore everywhere 😍
Great video,
Wow ! 😎
+Fran Stains right??
Wow! The clouds were low that day
WOW! all I gotta say
Ya, it was a pretty sweet day 😍🗻
Love the video. You're camera is awesome :)
Thanks!
Your*
Which route did you take? Swirls car park, Stridding edge or Swirls edge?
I have been up Helvellyn and thought the views you guys had were great compared to my view at the time.
omg hiker tim is a legend! lol...
What can I say... he's the last of the hiking kings. There's no other.
As a miserable Englishman, who only has faith in God anymore, your positivity has lifted my spirits.Check out the Flat Earth above the clouds, fantastic!!!
/facepalm
Helvellyn is awesome! i like to take the mountain bike up there! what did you think of striding edge?
+Adventure With Mike it was treacherous.. But awesome!
I’m going here tomorrow
Great vid guys, awesome views.
How long did it take to reach the summit? Would love to experience being above the clouds, but definitely wouldn't want to face the decent back down.
8 miles Would finish me for a week after.
Good work. 👍
Could've sworn I commented on this before? Meh. I love Helvellyn, part of the reason I moved up here to Cumbria.
Any plans to visit the Highland of Scotland ?
The Endless Adventure Great video, great story. Thank you very much! Now this place is in my travel list. ☺ ... hmm can you please say, what camera, kit did you use to make this video?
Hi, great videos, just watched a few of them. What camera are you shooting on?
Thanks so much! We use a sony a7ii 😊
im risking life, im risking limb
Right now?! Who knew this apartment was so treacherous...
Good video
Thanks!
Remembering how you enjoyed hiking up Helvellyn, you might be impressed by this fell runner who climbed 78 peaks in the Lake District, including Helvellyn, in less than 24 hours:
runningmagazine.ca/trail-running/british-fell-runner-climbs-78-peaks-in-24-hours/
awesome vlog! were you able to get GPS signal up there for the drone shots?
Yep! We actually find that it's easier to get GPS in some remote areas actually :D
yeh there's not much at the top to get in the way of GPS!
Wait.... this is the same footage from last video??
So pretty. :)
...don't eat yellow snow😉
Do you realise that most of the Lake District (but not any of the rest of Britain) was once part of the Appalachians? Plate tectonics over millions of years has changed that.
hahaha sheep wars :D
😂🐑
Ah. Brocken Spectres.
Grasmere Gingerbread is great. Its a shame americans think london is england
Ed Bassmaster fans? 😉
I had anxiety watching this
Don't try walking on the clouds though!
PS Tim, please don't rap your embarrassing us, its as cringy as your dad spitting rhymes.
I think your a decent person but leave the cheddar cheese well alone
8:44 - those are the creatures that voted to remain inside the EU.
I'm not going to hike higher than the clouds, but if you ever want some company to drown in tonkotsu in Japan, I'm your man.
Oh man! The only thing we like better than views is food. We'll gladly accept your offer. Stay tuned friend.... 🍜
Please don't rap. Please don't rap.
And our wildlife isn't exactly wild... Squirrels wont hunt you down in packs....;)
Wow espectacular, look so awesome, some part looks like New Zealand!..have fun Guys!..
Oh cool! New Zealand is high up on our bucket list 😍
Yeah NZ has a climate in places (untouched) like the North of the UK hence the lord of the ring rings filming and a great director as a English man cant wait to check my cousins.
I live in the UK, been on holiday to both of NZ's islands and found lots of similarities between them despite being on opposite sides of the world. The climate and landscapes seemed closely matched, as well as town/city names.
