Animated movies based on tv shows are starting to get better at more accessible for non fans of the show, like demon slayer mugen train and jujutsu kaisen 0. But Bobs burgers was definitely the funniest I’ve seen the Simpsons movie. But it really does say a lot when this managed to get a theatrical movie before family guy. I’m still wondering why that hasn’t happened yet.
Family guy already has the excellent star wars specials , the back to the future parody , the death of stewie vs lois episode and the road to episodes. Do we really need a family guy movie where it's just a bunch of cutaway gags , juvenile humour and pop culture references?
I love The Bob's Burger's Movie. Since I was turning 16 on Spring Break 2011, I've only seen the Fischoeder episodes. After seeing the movie, I started seeing the series in its entirety before season 13. The fact Kevin Kline was in this made me look forward to the movie even more. I also can hear a huge difference in his voice-work even in a few episodes he was in. 😁
I’m currently watching Season 3 of the show, and I can see how it gets better and better each time. No wonder it’s become one of the biggest juggernauts on Fox’s Animation Domination lineup right now (and possibly better than the modern episodes of Family Guy IMO). My goal is to watch as many episodes as I can before I watch the movie.
Yeah. Family Guy is just going downhill with characters that are becoming unlikable, pointless cutaways to run the running time, crude and unfunny jokes, you get the idea. And we all wish it would be dead forever. Thank lord Bob’s burgers is Doing better now and isn’t following FG in that same pathway.
"I'll give the movie credit that there is a clear effort to make the show's theatrical debut a big deal, instead of feeling like one long, regular episode." And yet it feels like a super-sized episode in all the best ways. Just about everything that works in the show works here. Season 4 has the two-part "Wharf Horse" finale, and I'd say this is that on a cinematic scale w/ a Louise character growth story as the through line. It's exactly what a movie version of this show should be.
Here’s an interesting story, yesterday, I went down to the movie theater to see a Lightyear, but the movie theater changed times for it. So I decided to come back another day to see it, but while I was there they did have a poster for The Bob’s Burgers Movie, and they gave it to me for free.
Fun fact: leading up to the release of the movie, in season 12 there’s a reoccurring gag where if you look in the background you can see people tripping over the sidewalk outside the restaurant, foreshadowing the sinkhole plotline
Exactly. The creators know what they are doing and movies like yogi bear (2010 movie, in case you have no idea which one I’m talking about) sucked. I did find the jetsons movie good but not bad, it is just ok.
Glad I'm still not the only one who may not be a hardcore or loyal fan of Bob's Burger, but personality for me I still had a great time with this zanny and kooky family and don't mind buying a dozen burgers from them now and then to keep them supportive, as for me I still like Bob, Linda, Gene, Louise, and Tina and wish them the best of luck IF there still gonna be a long runner and outbeat the competition that IS both Simpson and Family Guy! Speaing of Family Guy, now we truly need wait a few years later for Family Guy to *FINALLY* do there own movie something they could've done *ANYTIME* they wanted!

I'll be honest, I wasn't too sure how to feel about this movie when I saw the first trailer for it, but I went to go see it Wednesday night, and I got to say, as someone who never saw a single episode of this series, I'm glad I went to go watch it. I think Louise would be my favorite character in this because of her determination to help save her father's business from being on the brink of financial collapse and how she uses her head to figure out the mystery of who murdered Cotton Candy Dan.
Yeah, every main character gets really strong episodes in the series, but common consensus is that the ones focusing on Louise's character (and ESPECIALLY her and Bob's relationship) are the best
I went to see this with my two best friends, neither of whom had even heard of Bob's Burgers before. I gave them a quick overview of the characters, the running gags and my favourite episodes and guess what? Both of them would've gotten like 80% of this movie even without the crash course. They loved it, I loved it and they're now wanting to watch Bob's Burgers.
I love how you compared the character designs in "Bob's Burgers" to that of Bert from "Sesame Street." Maybe they could have a special of the day called the 'Sesame Seed Street Burger.' Anyways, as a fan of the show, I really enjoyed the Belchers' romp on the big screen, especially the humor. I'll admit though that Tina and Gene's subplots didn't add much to the overall story, but in some sense it kind of works with the whole 'facing your fears' lesson that Louise was also experiencing. Speaking of which, I loved the backstory they gave on Louise's bunny-ear hat and how it supplied much of the film's heart. I'm also just glad this movie finally got its chance to appear on the big screen after all the delays it went through.
The Bob's Burgers Movie is definately the funniest movie based on a cartoon Ive seen since The Simpsons Movie. It was great seeing the characters on the big screen especially my favorite being Louise Belcher. My favorite song in the movie is definately Lucky Ducks.
Sunny side up summer is now the song that takes me to my happy place. Also, hahaha bobs burgers got a movie before family guy! And before all you family guy fans freak out on me for this, I'm just kidding
I’m going to see this film tomorrow night. Oh, and btw, I do understand when it comes to watching the series premiere and feeling uninterested at first. I was like that with Amphibia at first. It wouldn’t be until the pandemic came and Season 2 was right around the corner that I decided to give it another chance, and I fell in love with it, and I watched all the episodes of Seasons 2 and 3 when they aired on Disney channel.
Saw it with a friend a few days ago and we both loved it, and my friend had never seen the show. Had to cram her with a list of all the characters and their personalities before the show.
Saw the movie having not seen the show and now I can't wait to binge the show this summer in preparation for season 13 in the fall. The movie was hilarious and I love that there were songs in it!
I found this review to be a pleasant surprise, just one point shy of the seal of approval too, and that's a good thing! Yeah, as for the musical numbers.... The villain song in particular (which was the only one to not make it to the official OST btw) did present an issue that did have that "extended episode" feel a bit. It dragged for a little too long to mainly fill as an exposition dump villain song, and when we get to the climax, I genuinely felt like it did have an "Oh, we're done already?" feel to justify the 1 and a half hour runtime of it. Though I do also feel like I'm glad the film is not overloaded with them, as at least all of them do have a plot moving forward feel. Admittedly, the show kinda does have that problem nowadays where they just add in musical numbers for the sake of the charm point of the show. And in all seriousness though, the animation lineup for 2022 is coming up with unexpected surprises for genuinely good films. Now who knows who's gotta reach for the Top 5 of the year eventually? I'm all EARS for it!
Hopefully it does better at the box office. Because Winnie the pooh being for little kids, and its short runtime, many decided to skip it in theaters. Bob's Burgers doesn't have those problems. However, it would to be a massive breakthrough hit to bring more 2D animated movies back in theaters.

That being said, there are a ton of great returning faces and callback gags throughout this thing, never overbearing but consistently effective. The end credits dance is a reminder of just how many great characters didn't make it into the movie proper.
I actually watched a bit of the show when it back in the 2010's, not a whole lot but I liked what I saw and this movie does the show justice and even if your not a fan of the series or the creator's work. Your still going to find enjoyment in it too as great to see some great 2D animation on the big screen too. If they gave more 2D movies a chance than we could see more variety on the big screen animation wise as Bob's burgers the movie is a good film and now after talking about burgers alot, I want one now. 🍔 👪 📺 🎥 🎨 😆 😊 👍
I didn't get into Bob's Burgers until the year 2014. I usually would give a show the three episode rule, watch the first three episodes to see if it's worth to continue watching, and I got to say Bob's Burgers is the best animated series ever!😊❤ I love how the Belcher family is loving and the very relatable. My favorite character is Tina, she is so funny and awkward, and I so relate to her. Bob's Burgers is my favorite comfort show, if I ever need a laugh or to help my depression, I would watch an episode to make me feel better. The movie is now one of my favorite animated movies of this year. I really miss hand-drawn animation, the opening number, Sunny Side-up Summer, made me so emotional because it reminds me of the good old days of Disney animated movies I would watch from time to time. So if you do, give this show a chance, it is the best!😊❤
I think it’s gonna be rare seeing an animated 20th Century Studios movie in theaters now. I know they were technically involved with animated Disney+ content like Diary of Wimpy Kid (2021) and The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild but that’s another story
I’ve seen it loads of times. Great show. The film itself is definitely on par with the Simpsons Movie with its shading which impresses me and makes it more distinctive as a movie. Far better than the Loud House Movie.

Adapting films based on tv shows can be a challenge for them as they need something that fans could totally respect it along with non-fans. Those were a success were The Simpsons Movie, Shaun the Sheep Movie and this film as well.
The kids don’t even know the severity of the situation, that’s why their actions don’t add to the story of saving the restaurant besides Louis. They literally say to each other how they think their parents losing the restaurant means they’ll have to hang out with mom and dad after school, like they don’t even realize they’d be homeless. I will admit as much as I love the show there’s always certain moments where someone is doing something so aggravatingly stupid and unaware (usually Linda) that it’s kind of hard to like her. Like when she’s jumping in random peoples photos and saying they wanted to take a picture with her, or when bob gets a customer and she tries to make him say her costume is the reason. It just gets a little too annoying at a certain point like I get she’s supposed to never give up and that plays into the movie and the show, but when it’s like “babe we are 4 days away from being homeless with no plan” it’s kind of annoying when she just calls him grumpy and mopey like no he should be feeling that way. However since she ALWAYS says to keep going in the show and the movie, it really made it hit when she said she gave up, that moment of bob telling her it was his turn to make her not give up actually was emotional and felt deserved it wasn’t forced at all. But really the biggest pointlessly dumb moment that annoyed me was Louis showing the murderer she had the evidence for NO REASON. She literally was home free, all she has to do was act natural, but they do this a lot in bobs burgers where every single time one of them is in a situation like that they can’t even just not act natural, they have to act as UN natural as humanly possible. That just seemed like something they did because they had to get to the part where he’s holding them hostage. I really feel like they could’ve done a better job of having her get caught by him, it’s just way too easy to do the cliche where she’s like “what? I’m not acting weird” *laughs awkwardly* like she was hiding her intentions to bust Felix when she thought he had done it, why is it any different now? She was face to face with who she thought the murderer was already and didn’t stumble and shit so it’s just dumb for her to do it there
Bob's has a long history of great songs. It's got a certain Lou Reed quality to it, clearly by someone w/ some proper musical knowhow (the best is Broadway-level) but w/ that charming roughness about it. Seriously, I should just pick up the soundtrack at some point, it's that worth it.
I watched the double toasted review on this period I really like what Cory said about how he enjoyed the enjoyed that the bobsburger's movie stuck to form for the show. Instead of going on this big journey like something they never would have done in the show it stayed true to form and I think that's why a lot of people who were not big fans of the show or not a big fan or as big fan as some of us out there are able to ease into the movie without being totally confused or having to do a lot of that research is because it's still sticks to form and you're able to follow along with it

Such a unique concept of simple story of an animated family together like the Simpsons and Family Guy. This movie is basically the 2022's version of the Simpsons Movie and the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie as the most funniest and best 2d hand drawn animated film based on a television series. I'm happy and glad that we got a theatrical 2d hand drawn animated film in theaters since we rarely get mainstream 2d hand drawn animated films to take a break from computer animated films. I heard Disney have plans bringing back 2d hand drawn animation with their future movies and tv shows, there is a future positive hope and light for hand drawn animation in the mainstream and proved that 2d hand drawn can be popular and recognition as much as computer animation and live action. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️

Great review!!! This probably has to be one of the best movies of this year with a super engaging story, beautiful animation, well-developed characters, and some unforgettable songs! I finally got into Bob’s Burgers back in 2017 and became a big fan of the show ever since. I just started rewatching it on Hulu last month. Still on season 4. Was hoping to finish it before this movie came out. Oh, well. Hoping to finish the series before the movie leaves theaters.
While not fully invested in the television series as with “PAW Patrol’, the film version is still an enjoyable watch as it makes me hungry for burger lunches during the summer holidays. When it comes to the musical numbers, I found them less profane that the ones in “South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut” and quite upbeat.

Even as a non-fan, this felt more live a television movie slapped on the big screen. This doesn't do anything in its animation or narrative to justify a big screen release.
I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest Bob’s Burgers fan, since while I watch if it happens to be on TV, I rarely go out of my way to do so. However, since nothing that’s currently in theaters interests me until Lightyear drops, I might as well check it out due to still having the great and wholesome humor that the show has to offer. Also, with The Simpsons and now Bob’s Burgers having their big-screen debut, all that’s left out of the Fox animated trio is Family Guy. Though considering the quality of the show nowadays, I’m not entirely sure if I’d want a film from it or not. Maybe if it was an extended episode of Brian and Stewie going on their adventures, since those are always quite enjoyable even in the later seasons, but only that.
While I’m not a Bob’s Burgers fan myself, most of my day program staff are, and on their behalf I’d like to ask you, did you see the movie and also, did they Disnify it ?
As a fan of the show, I was dreading this would be another Jonah situation where Mat doesn’t particularly like this film. However, I am glad even someone who isn’t a hardcore fan really likes this film as much as I do (though I’d personally probably give it the seal of approval). Also, I’d like to point out aside from the Wonder Wharf carnies (sans Mickey), there aren’t any new characters introduced for this movie. Kinda rare for a film based on a tv show to have all the characters be from the show and not just one-offs for the movie. Additionally, I’d argue Tina and Gene’s sub-plots show off the movie’s theme of the family dealing with their insecurities. However, I do agree with Mat that those plots could’ve used more time on the grill (along with the musical numbers).

Honeslty i like the early seasons aswell as the current. Its diffrent from the typical sitcom family cartoon like simpson or family. The show has heart.
Bob's Burgers definitely got better after its 1st season. Dare I say, it became my favorite Fox animated series, due how It remained wholesome and quirky while still being funny. Especially in comparison to other Adult Animated Series that try far too hard to be edgy and violent.

Just saw this movie and I enjoyed it very much. I loved the show and wasn’t even expecting it to be that great and I liked it alot it wasn’t amazing but it was cool, too bad you missed the chance to follow along it was great the whole time you were always missing a lot

Speaking of which, I loved the backstory they gave on Louise's bunny-ear hat and how it supplied much of the film's heart. I'm also just glad this movie finally got its chance to appear on the big screen after all the delays it went through.
The Bob's Burgers Movie is definately the funniest movie based on a cartoon Ive seen since The Simpsons Movie. It was great seeing the characters on the big screen especially my favorite being Louise Belcher. My favorite song in the movie is definately Lucky Ducks.
It's just so much fun. Can't wait to see it again.

I’m going to see this film tomorrow night. Oh, and btw, I do understand when it comes to watching the series premiere and feeling uninterested at first. I was like that with Amphibia at first. It wouldn’t be until the pandemic came and Season 2 was right around the corner that I decided to give it another chance, and I fell in love with it, and I watched all the episodes of Seasons 2 and 3 when they aired on Disney channel.

Saw the movie having not seen the show and now I can't wait to binge the show this summer in preparation for season 13 in the fall. The movie was hilarious and I love that there were songs in it!
I found this review to be a pleasant surprise, just one point shy of the seal of approval too, and that's a good thing!
Yeah, as for the musical numbers.... The villain song in particular (which was the only one to not make it to the official OST btw) did present an issue that did have that "extended episode" feel a bit. It dragged for a little too long to mainly fill as an exposition dump villain song, and when we get to the climax, I genuinely felt like it did have an "Oh, we're done already?" feel to justify the 1 and a half hour runtime of it. Though I do also feel like I'm glad the film is not overloaded with them, as at least all of them do have a plot moving forward feel. Admittedly, the show kinda does have that problem nowadays where they just add in musical numbers for the sake of the charm point of the show. And in all seriousness though, the animation lineup for 2022 is coming up with unexpected surprises for genuinely good films. Now who knows who's gotta reach for the Top 5 of the year eventually? I'm all EARS for it!
Who would have thought that THIS would be the first hand drawn animated feature from Disney since "Winnie-the-Pooh (2011)"?

So hilarious that Bob's Burgers is technically under Disney now.
Hopefully it does better at the box office. Because Winnie the pooh being for little kids, and its short runtime, many decided to skip it in theaters. Bob's Burgers doesn't have those problems. However, it would to be a massive breakthrough hit to bring more 2D animated movies back in theaters.

To quote Kermit the Frog, "Boy I wish I were you people seeing this for the first time."
That being said, there are a ton of great returning faces and callback gags throughout this thing, never overbearing but consistently effective. The end credits dance is a reminder of just how many great characters didn't make it into the movie proper.
I actually watched a bit of the show when it back in the 2010's, not a whole lot but I liked what I saw and this movie does the show justice and even if your not a fan of the series or the creator's work. Your still going to find enjoyment in it too as great to see some great 2D animation on the big screen too. If they gave more 2D movies a chance than we could see more variety on the big screen animation wise as Bob's burgers the movie is a good film and now after talking about burgers alot, I want one now. 🍔 👪 📺 🎥 🎨 😆 😊 👍
I didn't get into Bob's Burgers until the year 2014. I usually would give a show the three episode rule, watch the first three episodes to see if it's worth to continue watching, and I got to say Bob's Burgers is the best animated series ever!😊❤ I love how the Belcher family is loving and the very relatable. My favorite character is Tina, she is so funny and awkward, and I so relate to her. Bob's Burgers is my favorite comfort show, if I ever need a laugh or to help my depression, I would watch an episode to make me feel better. The movie is now one of my favorite animated movies of this year. I really miss hand-drawn animation, the opening number, Sunny Side-up Summer, made me so emotional because it reminds me of the good old days of Disney animated movies I would watch from time to time. So if you do, give this show a chance, it is the best!😊❤

I think it’s gonna be rare seeing an animated 20th Century Studios movie in theaters now. I know they were technically involved with animated Disney+ content like Diary of Wimpy Kid (2021) and The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild but that’s another story
I’ve seen it loads of times. Great show. The film itself is definitely on par with the Simpsons Movie with its shading which impresses me and makes it more distinctive as a movie. Far better than the Loud House Movie.

Adapting films based on tv shows can be a challenge for them as they need something that fans could totally respect it along with non-fans. Those were a success were The Simpsons Movie, Shaun the Sheep Movie and this film as well.
The kids don’t even know the severity of the situation, that’s why their actions don’t add to the story of saving the restaurant besides Louis. They literally say to each other how they think their parents losing the restaurant means they’ll have to hang out with mom and dad after school, like they don’t even realize they’d be homeless. I will admit as much as I love the show there’s always certain moments where someone is doing something so aggravatingly stupid and unaware (usually Linda) that it’s kind of hard to like her. Like when she’s jumping in random peoples photos and saying they wanted to take a picture with her, or when bob gets a customer and she tries to make him say her costume is the reason. It just gets a little too annoying at a certain point like I get she’s supposed to never give up and that plays into the movie and the show, but when it’s like “babe we are 4 days away from being homeless with no plan” it’s kind of annoying when she just calls him grumpy and mopey like no he should be feeling that way. However since she ALWAYS says to keep going in the show and the movie, it really made it hit when she said she gave up, that moment of bob telling her it was his turn to make her not give up actually was emotional and felt deserved it wasn’t forced at all. But really the biggest pointlessly dumb moment that annoyed me was Louis showing the murderer she had the evidence for NO REASON. She literally was home free, all she has to do was act natural, but they do this a lot in bobs burgers where every single time one of them is in a situation like that they can’t even just not act natural, they have to act as UN natural as humanly possible. That just seemed like something they did because they had to get to the part where he’s holding them hostage. I really feel like they could’ve done a better job of having her get caught by him, it’s just way too easy to do the cliche where she’s like “what? I’m not acting weird” *laughs awkwardly* like she was hiding her intentions to bust Felix when she thought he had done it, why is it any different now? She was face to face with who she thought the murderer was already and didn’t stumble and shit so it’s just dumb for her to do it there
Bob's has a long history of great songs. It's got a certain Lou Reed quality to it, clearly by someone w/ some proper musical knowhow (the best is Broadway-level) but w/ that charming roughness about it. Seriously, I should just pick up the soundtrack at some point, it's that worth it.

I watched the double toasted review on this period I really like what Cory said about how he enjoyed the enjoyed that the bobsburger's movie stuck to form for the show. Instead of going on this big journey like something they never would have done in the show it stayed true to form and I think that's why a lot of people who were not big fans of the show or not a big fan or as big fan as some of us out there are able to ease into the movie without being totally confused or having to do a lot of that research is because it's still sticks to form and you're able to follow along with it

Such a unique concept of simple story of an animated family together like the Simpsons and Family Guy. This movie is basically the 2022's version of the Simpsons Movie and the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie as the most funniest and best 2d hand drawn animated film based on a television series.
I'm happy and glad that we got a theatrical 2d hand drawn animated film in theaters since we rarely get mainstream 2d hand drawn animated films to take a break from computer animated films. I heard Disney have plans bringing back 2d hand drawn animation with their future movies and tv shows, there is a future positive hope and light for hand drawn animation in the mainstream and proved that 2d hand drawn can be popular and recognition as much as computer animation and live action. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️

I finally got into Bob’s Burgers back in 2017 and became a big fan of the show ever since. I just started rewatching it on Hulu last month. Still on season 4. Was hoping to finish it before this movie came out. Oh, well. Hoping to finish the series before the movie leaves theaters.

I love the show, and the movie met my expectations.
While not fully invested in the television series as with “PAW Patrol’, the film version is still an enjoyable watch as it makes me hungry for burger lunches during the summer holidays. When it comes to the musical numbers, I found them less profane that the ones in “South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut” and quite upbeat.

Even as a non-fan, this felt more live a television movie slapped on the big screen. This doesn't do anything in its animation or narrative to justify a big screen release.
I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest Bob’s Burgers fan, since while I watch if it happens to be on TV, I rarely go out of my way to do so. However, since nothing that’s currently in theaters interests me until Lightyear drops, I might as well check it out due to still having the great and wholesome humor that the show has to offer.
Also, with The Simpsons and now Bob’s Burgers having their big-screen debut, all that’s left out of the Fox animated trio is Family Guy. Though considering the quality of the show nowadays, I’m not entirely sure if I’d want a film from it or not. Maybe if it was an extended episode of Brian and Stewie going on their adventures, since those are always quite enjoyable even in the later seasons, but only that.
While I’m not a Bob’s Burgers fan myself, most of my day program staff are, and on their behalf I’d like to ask you, did you see the movie and also, did they Disnify it ?

As a fan of the show, I was dreading this would be another Jonah situation where Mat doesn’t particularly like this film. However, I am glad even someone who isn’t a hardcore fan really likes this film as much as I do (though I’d personally probably give it the seal of approval). Also, I’d like to point out aside from the Wonder Wharf carnies (sans Mickey), there aren’t any new characters introduced for this movie. Kinda rare for a film based on a tv show to have all the characters be from the show and not just one-offs for the movie. Additionally, I’d argue Tina and Gene’s sub-plots show off the movie’s theme of the family dealing with their insecurities. However, I do agree with Mat that those plots could’ve used more time on the grill (along with the musical numbers).

Bob's Burgers definitely got better after its 1st season. Dare I say, it became my favorite Fox animated series, due how It remained wholesome and quirky while still being funny. Especially in comparison to other Adult Animated Series that try far too hard to be edgy and violent.
