What has changed since then is that you can travel on all regional trains, buses, metro, trams and subways throughout Germany for 49 euros per month (universal ticket that is valid everywhere) ...with the exception of high-speed trains or private providers, coaches, etc.
This was also well received by commuters, but in rural areas people still have to rely on cars because there is not enough public transport there.

The reason why we will never get fre public transport in Germany is, that the minister for transport traditionally is either from the CSU or from the FDP. The CSU is a regional bavarian party. Bavaria is the state where most of germanys car manufacturers are located. The FDP is a neoliberal party. It is known that the head of the fdp made phoncalls with the Porsche CEO while negotiating the current coalition to speak about possible laws.

@@to.l.2469 Actually they are literally contagious and we are still criminally ignorant of it. We literally have data on how bad mental health of ppl affects ppl they have any form of power over (kids, spouses, elderly, workers under bosses with bad mental health). And everyone with sufficient EQ does get affected by the bad mental health of ppl around them. The "unfortunate" part you mean, is that it's unfortunate it's not contagious in the same way to the abusers who cause mental health distress to others. Though you can argue it actually is the case even their, just their ability to notice how it affects them is - in a sense - disabled. ///orz///
But yes, absolutely agree that we should actually treat all forms of abuse and all forms of illness on the same level. It's a stupid leftover or sexistic structures that that's not the case. And we're still working through a ton there :\ And there's reluctance to open that can of worms officially, cause then we also have to acknowledge all the worms in there. From how abusive patriarchy based work structures are (like the data is not already showing across the board how much healthier less work and more time for family and social matters would be for society) to how very frequent verbal emotional and psychological abuse is and how our resources (and where they're going) are utterly ill balanced in order to address that. We even have to then question the worm called "How unreasonably rich ppl drive and exploit mental illness".
So....yeah .... baby steps. Damn slow baby steps coming way too late for way too many.

Oh they did? Thank goodness. At last some common sense and real life cost awareness! Edit I just tried checking and I only found a ruling that the "Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe" aka going to jail when you couldn't pay the monetary fee, has now been halved in length cause being in Jail imposes harsher on the lives of ppl than paying penalty fees. And that ppl now must be informed of the alternative to work off their penalty with community work. (Which would still be utterly idiotic for the case of "being unable to pay your ticket" cause chances are that you NEED A TICKET to get to the place wherever you are doing volunteer work to work off your penalty days ////orz///)
Is it another ruling? Like some change of what minimum cost the penalty fee must have for it to be able to get converted to jail time or sth.? Or a separate really public transport penalty fee related ruling??

Looking at how many people don't have access to public transportation or the acess is that bad you still need a car this is whinning on a very high level.
The central problem is that Germany has the constituional target of equal living conditions. If you define access to public transportation as a basic right you'd have to provide it everywhere. Even without providing pt in rural areas the the subsidy is greater than the money taken in by the companies who provide the service.

  • @eisikater1584

Nico's a nerd. A nerdy nerd. Everything he says is based on facts, figures, and logic. He's not a comedian in the traditional sense. His way of presenting the truth is unique.
Public transport could work in Germany. Nico, I think, lives in Berlin. Public transport there is excellent. (Berliners will contradict, but they're not happy if they don't have something to complain about.) I live in the country, and, yes, there IS public transport. Three busses a day to the nearest train station. No wonder everybody here owns a car.
Now, government, listen closely! You want to stop climate change you keep saying. Then improve public transport in rural areas! It doesn't need to be absolutely free, but make it affordable for everyone. Makes no sense to have ten or twenty cars on the road where one bus would do. And the car industry doesn't need to worry, people will always buy cars. Be it they have a family of five which is no fun on public trans, be it for a week's shopping you can't carry under your arm, be it for a vacation somewhere abroad, or be it just to have a shiny car you can be proud of.

Nico Semsrott - is on the very left wing. Those supporters of the left wing parties are living in big cities mostly and the people on the countryside have to pay for their luxury and left wing ideology. especially the welfare in Berlin (a failed and run down city) is incredible and people from all over Germany have to pay for Berlin (Hamburg, Bremen, Cologne ...) subsidies, a service they will never get at their cities or villages. a) Why should a family from the countryside have to pay for free public traffic in Berlin? Lot of regions in Germany don't have public transportation, or a bus/train once a hour. Don't you think young people on the countryside wouldn't like to have a nightbus bringing them to a nightclub and back at the weekend? That kind of luxury you will not find in smaller cities. b) most all people on the countryside have to pay for Kindergarden. In Berlin Kindergardens are free. all the people of Germany are paying that the left wing parliament of Berlin is implementing their left wing ideology. c) in areas with a bad public transportation people do need their cars or use a bicycle. no way tor reach work or school, Those people also have to pay for Berlins left wing luxury, with high taxes on cars, insurance for the cars, tax on gasoline, tax for co2-output and so on. You will never use public transportation but you have to pay for luxury public transportation in bigger cities. 👎 imo, 100% unfair 👎

Dude. The idea of free transportation covered by the mentioned numbers would include transportation in areas where we dont have any transportation right now.
Currently there is no transportation in areas where it wouldnt pay off, but free transportation should change that bc it has to be for everyone.
And paying for stuff you wont or cant use? Its called social. You may never need a hospital but you would be happy to have the chance to go there the very moment you have an accident so you pay for the possibility. Same for schools, same for every insurance you have. Maybe your life would change the moment you just have the chance to use something for free instead of ruling it out bc you think you wont ever need it.

    • @googlekonto194
      @googlekonto194 2 місяці тому +5

but don't you think that is a different problem? If we would have public transportation by the country instead of private companies than the coverage would become better since the country doesn't have to make profit. This goes btw for all the "left wing" ideas regarding infrastructure: Transportation, Internet, Healthcare and so on shouldn't be handled with the need to make profit, since then they aren't designed to help people in the first place, but to make money. The first goal of infrastructure is to help the residents. It works okay for streets as well. So if you ask, why you should pay for free transportation when Cities profit the most of it right now, why should they pay for the Autobahn that connects your village. We are one society and that's why everyone needs to pay for certain things.
I understand your frustration for example with the kindergarden. I'm from Hesse and we don't have them free, even tho we pay in the Länderfinanzausgleich, but Rheinland-Pfalz does. And it would be great if we had it too. The money is there, it's only poorly distributed.
