I just saw a DIY filer cost themselves $5,100 because they didn’t have a SSN for their child born last year at home, which delayed getting birth certificate. SSN was issued in May and they didn’t file an extension because they were due a refund. IRS disallowed the CTC and EITC on the return they filed after getting the SSN. Law requires SSN be issued by due date, including extension.
Good stuff Logan. My minimum is $1000 as well. It’s so helpful to be explicit about this up-front & weed out the folks that think we simply put numbers on forms. They don't realize the analysis that goes into even the simplest returns. Way to go! Keep the content coming!
Great explanation. One suggestion, lower the music's volume some; it overpowered your voice in this video and made it harder to hear/concentrate on what you're saying.
I’m also over 1k for clients. If you don’t want to pay that fee or you have a ‘simple tax return’ you probably will do just fine on turbo tax. My services are best used by people who have more a complex tax situation. I’ve also found that so many other preparers have retired, I can’t possibly take all of them. The price is also a way to filter some of those people out.
If the prospect doesn't gasp, your prices aren't high enough. Tax prep is a commodity; a world-class customer experience is not. You should price based on the customer experience and not on the product/service that customers buy from you.
$1,000 is low for a CPA. The challenge is getting rich clients that’ll pay your worth. I learned to never waste time on cheap clients or else you’ll loose money.
Finally someone who gets it! Would love to hear more about how you do tax return video summaries. Also would like to hear more about the initial meeting. Do you charge for that?
Thank you for the video ideas! I do charge for the initial meeting and review previously filed tax returns during it with the potential client. I also answer any quick tax/accounting questions they may have.
My wife and I make a respectable living and would have a hard time in justifying the initial entry point you set for services rendered. I think the reasons given fall below my expectations on where the money is spent and Id like to see a video on an itemized list of what services are being rendered. Maybe then would it help me better understand why you pricing is the way it is.
He's seeking high net worth clients. Business owners and he just does their 1040 only. You perhaps should seek a regular tax preparer for a lower rate. Non CPA or an or former agent enrolled agent most returns are simple and you can easily complete with TurboTax
@@taxtelegraf What me and my wife make are not public and will not be public, if you really want to know the it's 6 figures. I'm not saying I make a million dollars a year but we certainly make a decent living.
@@taxtelegraf I can see your point in wanting to have my taxes done right but I also would like to know what services I could potentially view as useful. I'm sure your services are well received by many and would love to see a video on services rendered and how the money is spent.

Failure on the person's ability to file for an extension relies solely on the person's filing of such. Your friend is responsible for this mishap.

Thanks for sharing! Would be curious to see a sample tax summary video for how that looks to the client

Noted!
It made me feel anxious, like there was an action movie thing about to happen. 😅
Agree

What is the tax return video summary you mentioned?

@@matthewdievendorf9609 I ask because if you make enough (sounds like you do), paying a high fee to get your return done would be worth it.
