I love that you acknowledge how expensive a full custom army with several of these builds would be. So many video makers just throw together a "here's how to make X" without bracing people for the impact of actually needing dozens of infantry models in a guard army. And since you make heavy use of Stormtroopers, and, at the time of writing this, GW just increased the points of Kasrkin and dropped the price of Stormtroopers to the old price, I imagine a lot of meta chasers are going to be scooping up any boxes that are actually available. Oh well, maybe after they get their next nerf.
You would probably be best off going to a bit's seller or just biting the bullet and using 3d printed parts for a lot of these conversions while just buying a box for the torsos and maybe legs. Though I can't see any good way other than printing to get that many bane blade commander torsos and heads.
I've heard that it's a trick which a number of smaller UA-camrs have picked up on. Deliberately mispronounce words to get extra comments under the video (and therefor better engagement) from those commenting on the mispronunciation or simply just correcting the UA-camr. He also is mispronouncing Catachan at 2:02, but hey the trick works - we are talking about it in the comments section.
@@ThreeCatProductions Hilariously, can pretty much confirm he did it for exactly that reason, cause he then pronounces commissar correctly almost immediately after at about 7:10 and 7:55.
It's amazing how much heavy lifting the Scion and GSC kits do for all sorts of human kitbashes. I've tried kitbashing AdMech Skitarii torsos onto Cadian legs/arms with moderate success for a nice flowing overcoat style. What a great video for inspiration, thanks!
I saw the blue in the background and immediately clicked the video - I’ve been interested in making Volpones for ages but there is so little inspiration. Sad to see your conversion didn’t work out. My theory is that a mixture of freeguild bodies and arbites bits might work, still some 3D printed / 3rd party griffon shoulders etc might be needed though.
I know I've seen someone convert one in one of those 5 more guard regiment conversion videos, I think it was another of the tank commanders upper torso builds, it might even have been the whole tank commanders torso with some legs cut off above the boot or at the knee, unfortunately I can't find it with a quick search in my history and I don't remember what they used for arms legs or heads.
I have a squad of Tunnel Rats for Kill Team. I found using Ash Waste Nomad bodies with Skitarri Vanguard heads gave them a more grungy, "I've been wandering in the muck all day" kind of look, as well as focusing more on the heavy clothing/cloak element. Awesome to see them getting some attention.
Navis Breacher legs with mag-boots are one of the single best bits I've ever seen from GW, and it's heartbreaking that you can't just buy entire sprues of them. I'd do an entire Guard army in mag-boots if I could, or an entire Skitarii army.
For the Kanak Skull takers you could also add some Ork skulls/bones/Ork weapons and misc bits from the Citadel skulls kit or any Ork kits to make them into the Armageddon Ork hunters, at least until GW makes some new Catachans (which doesn't seem to be anytime soon)
What an amazing video! I haven't found myself so enraptured by a kitbashing video for awhile now. Which is made more impressive by the smaller scale of the contents in both literal size and kitbash being done. I don't find many of what I like to called 'down to earth' conversions that really get me going. There is some part of warhammer and the hobby that dwells within kitbashes like this that doesn't exist in the massive projects. You have made my day good sir!
Your Harakoni Warhawks got me curious on what your take on the old pre-Kasrkin metal Stormtroopers would be! Would love to see a build for em because they are my fave version of Stormtroopers and getting em in metal is proving cost prohibitive!
I know a nearby downtown store that has a crate of trays of bits. Most of them are just bits spare limbs, heads, and small accessories. However, I found some interesting restocked kits in ziploc bags, which could be a squad of Space Marines, Tyranids, a special Necron, and whatever else is being resold at a discount.
These were so well done! I think you’re on your way to be one of the biggest names in conversion/kitbashes. Excited to see what else you have in store!
Incredible work once again, the quality of this content is levels above the amount of views you are going. When the algorithm gets you this channel is going to explode!
Your sim racing channel helped get me started with building my own rig and getting into that. And now I stumble on you here for my other hobby! Fantastic!
I’d love to see more of these guard kitbashes especially ones like the volpone blue bloods (even if it didn’t quite work out) from the gaunts ghosts series
As one of the few Scion Regiment players, I approve of this video. Also not explaining why i play guard, just wait till you realize Big E plays, Genestealers.
Very cool id love to see a part 2 with other regiments that might have a bit more complex techniques to get regiments like the vostroyan first born or Valhalla or talarn desert rangers.
This was such an enjoyable video to watch!! Would love to see you try and kitbash a Armageddon Steel Legion guardsmen I have no idea where to start lol :)
This man is on a crusade to mispronounce every name in 40k at least once while at the same time making it sound 10 times more British. Good video, and well done!
This was awesome. I'd love to see a part 2 of this video with either different regiments or continuation of your favorite ones from this video. I'm curious, if you did a second Harakoni Warhawk, how would you do the grav-chut they and the Elysian Drop Troopers are known for?
Very Nice! Always love seeing how much you can do with some of the most basic infantry. 3:28 Maybe those new Darkoath infantry would make a good base for an army of Skulltakers?
Awesome. Hope you try volpone again. I just used the solar auxili leman russ to make a volpone tank. Kit bashed the tank commander with a scion commander to make the volpone tank commander.
"Cannon fodder superfriends" LOL, i love it..... you know... You could basically just run them as a 13th Penal Legion "Last Chancers" themed kill team....
So I'm not sure what's all in scale with the current 40k kits, but I've seen a lot of fun kit-bashes using Fantasy/AoS parts, one of my favorites was giving the old free guild swordsmen modern guns. I could easily see using those and some tempestuous scions for torsos hands/weapons backpacks and modern boots but keep the lanchnect style sleeves pant legs and hats.
Would love to see you do a Xenonian Free Company guardswoman. They are pretty obviously ment to be based on Necromunda Eschers, and thus propably something that could be pulled off at a larger scale even, realisitically. Also there are some very nice fan art renditions of the Xenonians on deviant art.
I am a relatively new subscriber and wanted to say thank you. Can you tell more more about the metal/magnetic frame you're using to hold your miniatures as you glue them together? These types if tools look incredibly useful and I would love to own one. Thanks again for these videos.
Nice conversions, for the 2nd one, can I suggest painting some sign on the bald head? It could add a tribal flavour to the mini , such an arrow or similar (think of Aang from Avatar)
I wish we could get official models for more of the "famous" regiments which it turns gives us more parts to work with kitbashing the less famous regiments.
You always make amazing videos and this one is no differn't but christ if you can't pronounce stuff right. Co-misser-s? Ka-tach-in? Christ man 😭😭😭 Nice to see people acknowledge the cost and viability of these builds. Feels very down to earth and relatable :) Building warhawks is a weird one. They're effectively like the Elysian Drop Troops but stormtroopers. Looking at the Fantasy Flight RPG books for more modern images, I feel like anything but a scion head would fit alot better. Even the normal kasrkin head (with the breather filter bits chopped off for a more drop troop look) feels like it would fit better with their distinctive goggles. Adding grav chutes helps alot to. the Royal Volpone as an army are allready pretty well accounted for with the normal scoins kit, with more fantasy based character models for special characters, and normal cadians for the normal infantry. Its an odd case. You could maybe try using the new horus herasy Solar Auxilia for something differn't, or kitbash them with scions for something that strays away but is maybe more interesting than just blue scions tho. Speaking of Gaunts ghosts custom regements, how about giving the Vitrian Dragoons a go if you ever do another video like this? Tehy seam like quite a ballache to convert with their glass scale armour. Think the auxillia VELETARIS Veletaris could be a good case if you can get the scale texturing down, with their slitted helmet visors?
Wait, you're telling me plastic catachans don't exist any more? I've been some 10 years out of any miniatures, but I remember a time when they were the first and only plastic guardsmen, and ubiquitous in any human kitbashing
I love that you acknowledge how expensive a full custom army with several of these builds would be. He pronounces it correct twice so I think he did it intentionally to drive everyone crazy.
8 kitbashes in less than 12 minutes, this is good warhammer content.
Where is the 8 one?
@@Hobbyrepubliken Royal Volpone volpone bluebloods

the fact that 40k is so old but also has so much just NOT represented anymore really pushes me further and further into printing
I saw the blue in the background and immediately clicked the video - I’ve been interested in making Volpones for ages but there is so little inspiration. Sad to see your conversion didn’t work out. Necromunda kits are great for this sort of thing, I love using them in GSC as well.
It’s really cool seeing these regiments not in a photo or old conversion, another fan of scions here
Navis Breacher legs with mag-boots are one of the single best bits I've ever seen from GW, and it's heartbreaking that you can't just buy entire sprues of them. I'd do an entire Guard army in mag-boots if I could, or an entire Skitarii army.

For the Jopall I think TTS could be a good place for inspiration for their colors since one of their Bro Trip episodes focused on the regiment.
"Oh.. oh that I hate!" - Corvus Corax
Mad Robot Miniatures makes some of those regiments as resin kits. Very good quality

Oh geez...now I kinda want to see a MMC inspired guard regiment thanks to that Expanse mention.
i hope this series never stops, using only GW bits is great in a world where there's lots of third party/3d prints

what a sweet vid! classic kitbashing, quick and consistent audio and video, beautiful production quality. NICE

I’m not rewatching the expanse also 😊
Brilliant work
Love the use of the 1-2 -3 block

That Jopall Indentured is a solid idea and bloody well done that being said... i'm gonna nick and change into the rank and file of the Last Chancers.
So glad you came up in my recommendations! I really appreciate this style and effort
Legit need more of these videos and I’m commenting this before I’ve even watched it
This is great. Fantastic job. Now as to the blue blood build: I really want to do one- would be interested in your take.
All of them are so cool! I wish GW would explore some more of the unique worlds with official kits. There's so many good ones to choose from!
Hey! Super well edited and entertaining. You don't really dwell on it, but your paint jobs are really knockout as well. Well done.
Really great looking and coherent builds.
If you are going to build any more obscure Guard Regiments, I'd like to see your take on the Finreht Highlanders. Definitely forgotten by GW.
I’d love to see more of these guard kitbashes especially ones like the volpone blue bloods (even if it didn’t quite work out) from the gaunts ghosts series
Great video! Would love to see more footage of you prepping the figures before primer!
So this is an amazing video, because not only is it short. if it were long I would watch the whole thing
More Regiments options is always great, hopefully Gw will start doing more options like these after they revamp the Kreig and Catachans ranges.
Redcowls, def my fav. build of yours. Good video

For part 2 or 3 can you kitbash this 3rd edition imperial guard regiments
1 al-arach regiment guardsmen
2 wolverine regiment guardsmen
3 feral dogs guardsmen
4 kalistan Rifles guardsmen
5 nordian berzerkers guardsmen
6 desert foxes
7 remus regiment guardsmen
8 rasak bloodpools

I reckon this'd be cool for an Inquisitorial Retinue proxy - different Guardsmen from all across the Imperium. And that way you only need one of each

...great video...love lesser known Regiments (Chemdogs guy here)
Your assembly methods are Fu#&*ng BAFFLING though lol!

Not bad at all

That 3.5 and the 5th edition codexes were some of my favourite for the Guard. Also, which codex has those pics where you're taking inspiration from?
Great video! Do you have a recommended brand of green stuff ?
If you ever do this again, id love to see you try your hamd at the Desert Foxes
I would be shocked if the warhamner companies ask you to join them and heck those builds where good nice job

Also: So expensive! (For a few full squads)
the texture plate comes from greenstuff world. I have the same one.
