Bought a Model Y long range yesterday out of inventory with a $2,500 discount and the $7,500 Federal credit. Saved $20,000 off what I would have paid a year ago and get 6 months free supercharging!
And this is why I listen to you Rob. Calm, level-headed, rational clear thinking. Nice job and thank you so much for your videos.
Excellent edition!! 5 stars ⭐️ for depth of information
Latest Munro interview is definitely a must watch
It's their best episode to date.

Thanks for an excellent video. Over the years I've noticed that your produced videos are much easier to watch than your live videos. Just my take..... All top notch in any case.
Thank you for your service Robb
Super-informative and so generous of Tesla execs to share with the world! Being a completely new platform, Cybertruck is able to demonstrate Tesla's impressive engineering prowess!
Thanks Rob
Thanks
Love it!

I am disgusted by Musk's association with Alex Jones, who is a hideous person. Musk cozying up to him damages the Tesla brand. I have met two people in the last two days who have the money to pay cash for a Tesla, and want to buy an EV, but will not because of Musk's personality

Turns out my Model Y is a 16V LiIon battery based system. Leads to some issues, as well as being overall a good thing.
Around here I was averaging like 1 sighting per week, and I legit saw 5 different Cybertrucks today, including the blue pixelated camo wrap.
I'm in Tennessee and see a Tesla once per week, never a Cybertruck. Small town driving.
Still think having 3 modular battery range extenders to fit under the back seats would be the best, of course user removable with the ability to use said batteries for a home backup configuration as well would be great. So you could leave those batteries at home for power while you charged up elsewhere
There isn't enough space in a third of that volume to build up a 400V (96-cell!) battery.
At a cost of $16000 x 3 you might as well buy another car. And, contrary to what I suspect you think, it is not just simply adding some batteries. There would be huge electrical and structural design changes.
@@GntlTch *three smaller range extenders

Will we see 500k in Q4?
I thought FSD would say “enabled” rather than “capable” in the order of included, no?
All Teslas are ‘capable’ of FSD.
Fords sales are only to dealers & their lots are full… Even the ICE trucks are struggling.
They have huge EV inventory, over 6 months worth on every EV.
That sounds really bad. Service probably continues to do well.
Rob… u missed on mentioning that Ford sponsored Munro’s video….. so Ford sponsors TSLA ads 🎉
Munro Live is not an ad.
Looks like Tesla will not start depreciation of CT investments untill 2024, meaning less impact on Q4.
TSLA should try to sell as much vehicles as to keep their factories fully utilised.. even if it means low margins.. Should grab the market share from legacy auto and further get them to delay their transition to EVs
People keep talking about market share, it is not important when the EV market is expanding. I'd rather have 50% of 1000 than 90% of 500. Market share becomes important when the market is saturated which is several years away, maybe 10-15+ yrs. What is most important now is producing as much EVs as possible which is exactly what Tesla is trying to do because EVs have now hit the steep portion of its S curve. Almost everyone, incl. legacy auto, did not anticipate that the EV's S curve was going to hit the steep portion so quickly. They should have gone full bore on EVs 10+ yrs ago but they didn't, now Tesla is eating their lunch as legacy tries to figure things out a bit late. Legacy auto EV efforts are a real problem for them because they are losing money on each one they produce and it likely also means one less ICE sale whereas every EV Tesla sells is coming out of legacy autos hide (lose-lose for legacy, win-win for Tesla). Only Tesla and BYD currently make EVs at a profit last I heard. Tesla went thru its growing pains years ago and still learning but way ahead on multiple key fronts. That's the way I see the current picture, glad I bought TSLA years ago.
Thanks Rob! The "race" for market share in the EV space is continuing to be a wide open race with many would be contenders pulling back instead of speeding forward. Hybrids may be what they plan on using to remain relevant as well as profitable, but I think the appetite for a pure EV with the performance, range, ease of use and lack of maintenance is growing at a faster rate than people can afford to by an EV. As the new year is fast approaching with that at purchase rebate... the lead Tesla has is only going to grow! How this will affect the financials of ALL PLAYERS is going to make each quarters earnings report even more of a must watch.
2024 is going to be another wild year in the EV space, that's my prediction as of today.
Thank you Rob

Cutting F-150 Lightning production in half due to "changing market demand"
AKA: Oh shit, they actually launched the Cybertruck
It's amazing how Mr.munro can get exec group for interview. Anything else aside, exec team is always busy
It's marketing.
Not so amazing. Munro is free advertising, usually with an engineering, and his opinion.
Well said
The Cybertruck will mainly hurt Ford ICE-sales. It is quite likely that it will help the Lightning through promotion of BEV trucks. Ford needs to take the leap and trusst that they will win longer term. They should be working on a next gen Lightning at lower cost with gigacastings and structural battery packs, or accept defeat.
May be a bit late for Ford, time will tell. But the other legacy autos are in even greater trouble, imho. Exciting times in the EV world.
“There are no more rare earths in this motor than there are in the Model 3”
No, they said there are no more rare earths in the entire Cybertruck than there are in the Model 3. That’s actually a significant difference.
The Model 3 has only 2 motors, whereas the Cybertruck, depending on which model they are referring to (and they had been referring to the Cyberbeast in other parts of the video), has 3. And it is a much larger vehicle.
This point about rare earths is in the Munro video at around 37 and a half minutes in. DEEP DIVE is in the title.
There is also a TON of more detailed technical info in the Monro video than has "already been discussed"! Such as the steer by wire motors, the design of the 48v controllers, the iterative design of the casting dies, the development of the stainless steel formulation, etc, etc, etc! Rob not only is not an engineer but apparently does not appreciate the Tesla engineering when it is shown to him.
@GntlTch I recommended multiple times to watch the video. Do you understand the concept of a summary? What else would you have liked me to summarize?
@sleeknub I don't think it's clear that the comment can be interpreted that way. Why do you assume he is talking about the 3 motor Cybertruck compared to the dual motor Model 3? It seems like it would be more reasonable to assume he is comparing similar configurations in which case my comment would be correct.
@@TeslaDaily I already explained why I assume that: whenever they are making other statements about the Cybertruck in that meeting, unless otherwise specified, they are referring to the cyberbeast. I’d have to go back and confirm whether or not they do that in every single case, but at least in most.
An example a going to next S-curve!
Probably not a good time to launch an electric truck if Ford are struggling to sell an electric f150.
Anyone in Canada getting founders edition offers?
Im waiting for at least one channel to cover the cancelations after the reveal.
Given that anyone taking delivery of a CyberTruck in the next year could immediately resell it for around $10k more, you’d have to be insane to cancel any preorders that have only cost $100.

@@fredbloggs5902 It's been discussed on a few channels . Tesla is picking at random. My brother and I live in the same house. My reservation number is over 13k earlier than his and he got the foundation series offered, so I ordered through his account. I think it's just a lottery pick at random from people in California and Texas.
I live in San Diego and have a very early reservation number because i reserved during the announcement event in 2019.
My friend who also lives in San Diego reserved his a day or so later and has a later reservation number. He got an email from Tesla to configure and complete his order a couple of days ago, yet I haven't.

Ask Sandy Munro to make a call for you?
ford just announced they are cutting their Ford Lightning production for 2024 in half. apparently, they aren't selling as well as expected. at least their press statement said that “We’ll continue to match production with customer demand." projection is 1,600 per weeks.
my guess is that they are losing massive amounts on each one, and want nothing more than to sell as few as possible.
BTW, i wrote this comment before watching the video. :)
If they could sell direct without the high mark up, there would be demand.
@@heythave
it shouldn't be forgotten or minimized, that when tesla speaks of "demand" it means public demand, but when Ford and other car manufacturers speak of demand they are not speaking of public demand, they are speaking of demand from their own dealer networks; their ONLY source of income. so what they are really saying is that their dealers are not ordering the Lightning, or more accurately, they can't get their dealers to order them.
@@bladerunner6282 That’s too bad.
It is actually worse than the mere fact that they lose a boat load on each F-150 lightning they sell. They have to deal with the double-whammy that some percentage of those sales will mean a non-sale of an ICE F-150, which is their profit machine. I don't know exactly what percentage that is, but I bet it is not a trivial number. I suspect that for the most part, the only people who would buy an F-150 lightning over other available electric trucks are likely to be Ford loyalists.
Not a profitable vehicle, even though they reached volume production. Low demand. This is a no-win situation.

Totally agree that the range extender needs to be available without reducing bed space. I need both the range and the bed.
wonder if there was room under the rear seats for it?
What about loding some cabin space in the rear?
Yep, this was a big mistake. Offering 2 different battery pack sizes would’ve made everyone happy.
So raise the bed area behind the range extender to create a flat bed. The CT has a low center of gravity and it looks like the bed floor could be lower than most other full size pickups anyway.
A 'Decked' drawer system behind the range extender is another option. You see a lot of those systems in pickup beds and they raise up the bed floor, whether in an open bed, under a bed cover, inside a canopy or under a bed tent. There are options. It's easy.
I think that might defy the rules of physics!
9% LOL. I was (of course) hoping for more after battery day.
9% is not the end of 4680 development.
Thank you Rob🔋⚡️🚘 So many world free speech issues needing to be solved, disappointing to see the focus at X. Excellent cybertruck updates.
I bet you can still fit a few 4x8 sheets of plywood in the bed even with the battery extender
Can’t close the top then?
Depends on the quantity...
If you're purchasing dozens of sheets of plywood, you're doing a big job or building a house. Large quantities of sheet goods get delivered on large flatbed trucks with forklifts attached.
You can still carry small numbers of plywood sheets or lumber in a short bed truck, tailgate up with the sheets resting on the top of the tailgate. I've done that a few hundred times.
If you need a flat bed in a CT with the range extender, raise the area behind the range extender with a platform or 'Decked' drawer system. A lot of trades people use those drawer systems for tools and utilize the area on top to carry large items.
The CT has a very low center of gravity. Raising the bed floor is no big deal.
@@heythave6.5 feet bed. 8 feet plywood. No, you can't close the cover while hauling it.

Hey Rob, love what you do, you are awesome. I also like Tesla stock, and I am a shareholder. My question is, if the CyberTruck is so great, and Tesla stock looks so good, why is it down every day when the Nasdaq is in the green, it makes no sense to me. Tesla should be up $5 to $10 a day, especially when the Nasdaq is in the green.
So why is Tesla stock down every day with all this so-called good news. And btw, I am a Tesla bull, I like the stock, and I own the stock, and I have since June of 2020. I just can not figure out why it keeps going down when it should be up to $300 by now.
After the 3:1 split it was $300 a share, before that it was at $900 a share, and now it is around $230 a share, it can not even get back up to the $300 split price, and that is not good news. In reality it should be $400 or $500 a share by now, but it is stuck at $230, even with the CyberTruck event, it's crazy, and I just wonder if Tesla will ever go back up to $400 or $500 a share.
The German Union is headed to bargain at a manufacturing facility. Pointless to join in with a strike against support when the people they are going for jobs are directly effected. This also means that they probably think they are getting close and don't want to chance dampening momentum.

Bans like that are performative at best, and if you give corporations the opportunity to be performative, where you end up isn't good for the people or the corporation.
@@sjwright2the problem with that logic, is bans from platforms massively reduced his reach and earnings from his speech. It doesn’t silence him. 10:19 Quick to form an opinion on allowing a guy back on the platform who for years told people who had their kindergartener children massacred that their kids were still alive so frequently and with such veracity that said grieving parents repeatedly received death threats and the like from strangers. It’s also rich coming from the guy saying he’s going to sue people & organizations for spreading misinformation about X 🙄
Anyone who believes that Musk cares about free speech is a fool.
Do you why he was banned from Twitter?? It was not for anything you indicate above.
There is a town square with a large gazebo like building and all in northern Minnesota. When there are gatherings no one listened to the crazy guy in the corner spouting all kinds of nonsense. The mentally ill crazy guy in the corner has the right to mumbo gumbo all he wants and most people avoid him. The self-righteous attempted to say look over there, everyone wants to avoid that scary guy cant we just ask him to leave for the peace of the majority in our town. Alex Jones got a lot of heat for a lot of stuff and much of it was eventually proven TRUE. For example: Alex was discussing Epstein like ten years ago prior to anyone knowing the name. Ethernet is not a star topology. The original Ethernet was a buss topology. The reason why it may look like a star topology is because first hubs, then switches gave the branching that made it look like a star. I'm in Europe, not affected by Zweden, Berlin production is still increasing and Tesla send countless ships from Shanghai, still had to wait 4 months for delivery. I'm sure the switch to Highland was involved, but there seems to be plenty demand. It does shift a bit between individual countries, mostly because of changing tax incentives, but the cars are automatically approved for all EU members so Tesla can route cars to anywhere in Europe. I'm not concerterend before I see some actual Q4 numbers.
Free speech? And then he vans pro Palestine speech... Quite hipocritical
And he calls the liberation of Palestine a genocide… perhaps a political necessity in the crazy climate the US has. His so-called “antisemitic” tweets were not antisemitic in the slightest and he had to win that battle first.
I’m only tuning in to find out what it will take for you to finally distance yourself from the CEO.
And I’m here to read all the comments by the inadequate ignorant people with Elon Derangement Syndrome.
Rob is in Milwaukee. Is that enough distance?
I have a hard time swallowing the imperative that ignorant opinions should be granted any weight at all, ever.
But that is a sharp sword on which to fall. Very sharp.
So it's probably wise to speak diplomatically.
Alas, Elon is no diplomat. And he is choosing to comport with conspiracy theorists and professional antagonists who use Gish Gallop buzz words to substitute for cognition.
I enjoyed Sandy's interviews. I could not sit all the way through the blabbering nonsensical conversation Elon held with the Gish Gallopers. Elon kept trying to steer the conversation back to the things he was interested in, but the Gallopers each had their own vapid agendas and talked past Elon and each other. Cognitive dissonance all around.
Why did Elon do it? Does he actually respect vapid Gallopers? Is he making a point to listen to many points of view, even nonsensical ones? Why treat them as if they were all notable deep, well-educated thinkers interested in anything other than self-promotion? I don't grasp Elon's motive.
Ford needs to outsource to Tesla for a range of components and software. They are the only legacy OEM who might be able to pull that off; the rest are too delusional.
Thanks for your reporting, Rob.
What the hell is a fish galloper? Sounds superficial.
@@acmefixer1 Gish Galloper. Not Fish.
I'll send you to Wikipedia. Look for Gish Gallop. It's a useful term to include in any critical thinker's tool box.
@@acmefixer1it’s a method of communication that avoids answering questions or making a real point, to “win” and debate or conversation or at least confuse the audience and not look like you had no real point.
Nah, all of legacy auto will try to get in bed with the Chinese rather than Tesla. They think BYD, Geely, SAIC, Great Wall, FAW, etc can make EVs for them and legacy auto can still make a small profit while not having to do any work. This is the silver bullet that legacy auto thinks will keep them in business while their ICE business fades to nothing.
@@tomdrewenskus8167 that there is a forlorn hope.
The CCP heavily subsidizes the Chinese OEMs. Without those subsidies, they can't make BEVs with positive margins. But the CCP has run its planned economy over a cliff. China's economic miracle is done.
Further, Chinese automakers lag Tesla vehicles in every metric. Subsidies let them do well at the low end with vehicles that would never pass EU or North American regulations. Their high end offerings could pass regulations but can't be priced competitively even with subsidies. You have to understand that none of the Chinese OEMs have anything like Tesla's production tech. They're labor-intensive.
Further, Chinese OEMs face stiff tariffs in the US, and don't qualify for US incentives. They can't get in. The EU is investigating claims of dumping against Chinese OENs - true claims. It's just a matter of months before trade barriers are erected in the EU against Chinese OEMs.
China is in a better position for batteries, but their OEMs pose little threat to Tesla in Europe and America.
What about other markets?
Chinese OEMs can sell ICEVs to lots of markets - Russia, Central Asia, South America, Africa, etc. What they can't do is sell BEVs in those places. There is no charging infrastructure to speak of. And they are not going to build that infrastructure themselves - the CCP doesn't have the money. They're in a debt, real estate, and banking crisis like nothing ever seen before in human history.
Chinese OEMs can't throw a lifeline to legacy OEMs. They are pretty well stuck with the Chinese market, except for very low volumes.
It's telling that in 2023, even with production subsidies, Chinese OEMs complained loudly when Tesla reduced prices. Panicked, really. Even in China, they are barely hanging on with their BEV sales. Like legacy auto, what keeps them in business are ICEV sales, including hybrids, and subsidies. Tesla scares the bejesus out of them. If Tesla can get a budget BEV into the market with superior performance, it's going to hurt them badly even in China.
The icing on the cake is inferior software for Chinese OEMs.
Chinese OEMs are in a bad, bad position. There is no help there for legacy automakers.
Even if one gives Elon the greatest benefit of the doubt on things like readmitting Alex Jones to X, one wonders why the only people he tends to interview or converse with on the platform (in the political arena) are these provably horrible people, and I'm including the Florida Governor. Why not also interview, say, Michael Moore? I don't associate Elon with a particularly right wing or MAGA mindset, so I'm baffled by his recent choices of people to sort of feature. It is all massively confusing.
There is a difference between promoting free speech and promoting right wing hate speech. X could have been a place where racism and misogyny were exposed instead it is a place where it thrives among conspiracy theories and white supremacy talk.
I would like to urge everyone with integrity to not wait calling out Elon until he requests hailing. I admire Elon's stance for environment and advancing technology. That doesn't mean I can't be critical of his, I hope, naïve political stance.
Freedom of speech is the freedom to say things others don’t like, if you don’t allow that then it isn’t free speech.
You’re utterly clueless.
I never see the hate speech you wrote about. Perhaps you must look for it to see it. Unlawful speech is not allowed on X so if you have a problem with what is allowed there, take it up with the government. I oppose censorship of lawful speech.
Elon letting Alex Jones back on X is just to farm more rage bait engagement for the failing site. Elon is smart but he's not a genius at everything and X/Twitter has been a massive failure. Really wish Elon never got involved in Twitter, he's not succeeding at pushing "Free Speech", only engagement/rage bait and it's why advertisers left (and they're right to, they have the "freedom of speech" to choose not to advertise on X). I think it's harming Elon's reputation and Tesla's brand and i wish he'd drop it and focus on what's actually important. That being Tesla and SpaceX. Sorry if that's "controversial" or "divisive".
Elon is now actually harming Tesla, by associating with people who viciously attack the parents of murdered children. It disgusts me, and I own two Teslas

Meaning unclear, please elaborate.
Please, please, please. I am an investor and owner of 2 Tesla Model 3. Please talk about the car not the man Elon Musk. I worry about you becoming an innocent victim of being painted with Musk’s odor. Car,not man or his personal failure of character. I love your integrity. Be careful.
I am meeting more people who love the cars, but will not buy them because they cannot stand Elon
I have two Teslas, and have a huge stake in Tesla. I am completely disgusted and sickened that Musk is associating with Alex Jones, and letting that fountain of hatred and lies onto X. For the first time, I would seriously consider selling all involvement in Tesla, the cars, the stocks, because Musk cozying up to a man who would attack the parents of dead children in order to make money.
I also think Jones is flat out evil--one of the worst human beings I know of--but did you notice that the first thing Jones did on his reinstatement and on the podcast was fulsomely admit that he no longer believes that the massacre was a false flag operation, and that the children really did die. People of his ilk almost never recant or admit they were wrong.
Fair to say there is isn’t any other reason that Tesla hasn’t hit an all time high this year other than Elons deep involvement in all such BS unrelated to his businesses.
@@genephipps6421 I am a clinical psychologist and have assessed dozens of psychopaths and other pathological liars. Jones's statements of apology are completely contradicted by his efforts to avoid paying the parents of the dead children. If you want to know if someone is telling the truth, follow the money.
Stop being so dramatic, if he breaks the law there is a legal system that can (and did) apply the socially acceptable penalty.

You missed the most important thing from that Cybertruck vs. Ford Raptor comparison.
Cybertruck is much slower going in reverse, only 15mph while Ford goes over 30. #cansellingmyorder #cybertruckisaflop

It’s also hilarious that you think hashtags work in UA-cam the way they do in Twitter/X.

You have to address the stuff Elon does; there is an impact even if the short term price movement doesn’t appear to have a causal relationship. As a long term shareholder, it’s getting tougher not to divest - especially since the stock has been down since he had to sell share to pay for twitter, it makes holding that much tougher.
Divest. I no longer feel guilt of my greed winning over my soul.
