- Welcome to the ULTIMATE petrol vs electric drag race!
We’ve got our hands on the all-new Tesla Cybertruck, and it’s lining up alongside a Lamborghini Urus! But which will come out on top - petrol, or electric?
Well, let’s check out the stats. Starting with the Cybertruck, it rolls up equipped with three electric motors, and they combine to produce 845hp and 930Nm of torque. The starting price of the dual-motor edition is around $49,000, but for this tri-motor Cyberbeast edition, it’ll cost you around $96,000! In terms of weight, the Cybertruck tips the scales at just over 3 tonnes. It also has a top speed of 130mph.
Then we have the Lambo. It’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, and this can produce 650hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed torque converter gearbox, and it’s a whole lot lighter than the Tesla, tipping the scales at 2,200kg. It also has a much bigger top speed, coming in at 190mph.

At Tesla’s factory and on their road they aren’t likely to match it with something that would beat it. Tesla has been big on acceleration for a long time. Stopping and turning are still a struggle as they’re so heavy.

I have a friend that has a model X and i remember flooring that car and the speed of that fully electric car going all out it feels so....idk how to put it, ive been driving sport cars since the late 80s, from Porsches to Supras and it just mindblowing what those Tesla cars can achieve, its like u are glyding on cement, the acceleration its just wow. And this monster Cybertruck to leave that Urus in the dust like its a joke, its really impressive what that car can do....the chasis however is an acquiered taste 😂

If the road is a lot longer, the Lambo will catch up and win because its top speed is way higher.
To see something so big moving so fast is just insane.
For reference, it weighs nearly 3,000 pounds more than a Model 3 Performance. Yet it's quicker to 60 and the quarter mile and the M3P isn't a slouch either.
Honestly, hats off to what they did with this truck. The future is exciting for sure.

I saw this truck in my neighborhood in Fort Worth a couple of months ago. I did not know what it was. I figured it was an EV. I was wondering if it was a Telsa.

I helped in the design of the Tesla.
I surgically and with great precision worked on the performance as a priority. Everything else was 2nd.
That's not to say it lacks in any other area, it's just that the performance was a priority.
It's literally built like a tank. Drives really well.
Only in crash safety, delivering half the advertised range, scratches easily, which cannot be polished out, nearly impossible to repair panel damage etc etc

A more interesting test of Tesla truck and a Petrol vehicle would be a race around the Nurberg ring or an endurance test in very hot or very cold weather. How about a race from east to the west coast of America? The Teslas all have huge electric motors which have alot of torque and so are quick off the mark, I get it.
But one moment -- how this top power mode of Cybertruck discharge the battery? Equals to horsepower?

What’s frightening is how fast and sharp that box is that doesn’t stop too well 😬
It probably stops really fast for a truck with 35' all-terrain tires. I think I can tell my rig with Dana 44s and discs all around doesn't stop nearly as fast like that with 33' all-terrains, and it's over a ton lighter, though it's an analog 4x4, no ABS.

@@stx6671 doesn't look like that to me. I'm a car guy, built diesel rigs most of my life, hands-on fabricator, I've driven teslas and I don't understand the butthurt. They're awesome vehicles. There's a place for both kinds, the fleet can use the redundancy, I know the vehicles I've built are always going to be around until they can't be repaired anymore, as they do need a constant supply of spare parts.

I noticed in the last video and in this one too that the cybertruck appears to have a slow start in the first 1/8 to 1/4 second to prevent any wheel spin, then the full power is applied once the tires are connected..and from that point it just goes!

Does that really matter when a car has that much power and speed? It doesn’t seem like any other car comes close anyway.
The one thing that Musk wanted as he was developing the product line, starting with the Roadster and going through ones like the Model S was really good traction control. This is easy to do with electric motors, as soon as you see slip on one wheel you reduce power to that wheel until it's back in full engagement.

They're so far ahead that they're styling and not even bothering with performance tires.
Prob drop 2 or 3 tenths when on lighter 18" wheels with a decent st tread tire. There is supposed to be an 18" factory option with a Cooper road tire that was caught in testing. That version will also like the rivians prob gain 30-45 more miles of range back.
As the dual motor r1t on st tires vs 20" at tires smaller than even the ct uses. Loses 47 miles of range from the st 21s to 20" at. 👍🏻😎

I can remember in 2003 my dad had a Range Rover. When you folded down the sun visor there was a sticker that basically said “don’t drive erratic vehicle may tip” with a picture of a black outlined Range Rover tipping over. Now 20 years later jeeps are doing this and this sort of speed, power and maneuverability. Crazy really.
A drag race had nothing to do with maneuverability. And they so-called SUV's that are good at it, aren't actual SUV's.

@@tjadejoh It does not. Steer by wire does very little for that. A car like this has physical limitations. Steer by wire is good for f.e. a different movement signature of the axis, but that only does so much on f.e. a track and makes very little difference with the size and weight of this thing.
@@djoetma EV has all the weight in the base so very hard to turn them over so they can take corners quickly and the steering differential in the CT will help too.

Whether it's an acceleration test or a braking test, the two vehicles maintain the same distance and positions.
On braking, there's a fair chance the Urus hadn't gotten to 70mph when he started braking. He just started breaking when the CT driver called it at 70 which clearly shows the CT was on higher momentum, hence, longer stopping distance
Every time I see the Cybertruck it makes me think of those cars from Mombasa in Halo 2 on Outskirts and Metropolis.
The fact that a +3 tonne vehicle can beat a just over 2 tonne Urus like that is just insane
Their power to weight ratios are similar but the cybertruck is electric so it can deliver torque faster and therefore beat the urus

I think there's a good idea there, it just looks unfinished to me, like a very early concept thumbnail sketch lol. And not for anyone to look at, but for the artist himself to start with, and continue from there. I've seen various artists sketches, or take a cybertruck photo into photoshop and change stuff around, add some stuff, and they made some really cool looking renders without a ton effort. Which is why I say there's a good idea there, the fact that they didn't have to add or change too many things, but the little mods they did make made a huge difference.
