    I learned a tip from these two sister company named, "WE PACK" out of Park City, Utah. And they gave me a tip to pack as much paper as I can into the box, if you can push the top of the box and it goes downward then you need to put more paper in the top of the box, reason being, boxes can get pushed inward and Rips off the tape compromising the structure of the box and all the valuables it. It can also cause pressure points from other boxes that can break your dishes or even nice china sets. They told me paper is cheap but the items are expensive, so use as much paper as I can to make sure the box feels structurally stable. I have never had any broken items.

    Being an eBay buyer of antique pottery (which I now must pack and move), I noticed that the best eBay sellers’ packaging was to put foam or bubble between plates and bowls of same size. Then Wrap paper around this package of say, 6 plates, and secure with tape (most just used plain masking tape). Make sure the plates don’t jiggle or make a noise when you gently shake the pack. Then, surround packing box with bubble or foam or paper. Add pack of plates. Again, filling with paper or bubble, making sure no movement is felt or heard. It uses a bit less paper than United’s method here. And I was surprised how much less space it took up.

      I use news paper lol, Is that considered wasting? I don't think so because everytime its in my mail it goes in the trash. So using that to wrap my dishes isn't wasteful

    @4:08 about cups: "pack them upside down"
    a) why pack them upside down?
    b) you can clearly see her thumb into the depression of the cup. She didn't pack it upside down.??

    If you're moving the dishes yourself, this seems like way overkill! Just warp them carefully, and load them carefully into the van.

    • @HaveAGoodDayFk.U
      @HaveAGoodDayFk.U 3 роки тому +4

      Wrong, when you load dishes horizontal if you hit any kind of bump in the road your dishes will crack right down the middle. Same with pictures etc. That's why they must be standing vertical because any slight angle can cause them to crack.

    Can someone offer an explanation on why dished should be packed on their edge and not flat? I've moved several times in my life and this is the first time I've ever heard this. I've always just put a layer of bubble wrap on the bottom of the box, stacked my dished on top and used either paper of bubble wrap or packing peanuts to fill in around everything and then bubble wrap on top. This video makes it sound like you should never pack dished flat. I'd like to now why, seams like they would break just as easy on their edge as they would laying flat. Boxes are square and dished are round, so it's not like they're going to fit any different, putting them on their edge, I could pack a box this way and then turn the box on it's side, there would be no difference, the box is still square and the dishes are still round. So please someone enlighten me.

      They are less likely to break. When you see a glass company with big panes they are always traveling upright. Especially in long distance moves there will be bumps along the way. Framed photos, plates and platters and bowls go in vertically. Glasses and stemware go vertically, not on their side.

    • @MeHappyz
      @MeHappyz 3 роки тому +9

      When they’re all stacked on top of one another, all the weight of the entire stack will be on the bottom one. If they are individually packed vertically, the only weight on one dish will be its own.

    • @AliceOfWonders
      @AliceOfWonders 3 роки тому +1

      @@MeHappyz that's a good reason. but as OP mentioned the boxes are often turned onto their sides during moving

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn Рік тому

      @@AliceOfWonders You should put an arrow to show where the top of the box is, so that the movers know to keep it upright with the top of the arrow upward. Along with the word “FRAGILE,” of course.

    • @andreabradley5837
      @andreabradley5837 3 роки тому +2

      Was a little overkill with the paper, but not by much. The paper can be recycled, passed on the next poor sucker that has to move, along with the boxes.
