I proudly own both a 1979 Tokai Les Paul Reborn and a 2006 MIJ Love Rock. Both of these guitars are exceptional instruments. After seeing this video, you can see the attention to detail and how high quality a product Tokai makes in their Japan plant. I am sold on this brand and hope to add more to my collection. Thanks for posting this video.
Do the Japanese workers shoot the guitar bodies with nitrocellulose lacquer? Or do they use polyurethane? Fingers crossed it's nitro, so the wood can breathe
@@jeffdugger3276 It depends on which level of instrument you purchase. The most expensive MIJ Tokai use an all lacquer finish. The mid-range models ($1000 to $1700) use a combination of a thin poly sealer coat followed by a nitrocelluloise lacquer top coat. I just purchased a Limited Edition LS176S CTM "Wrap Around" 2022 Gold Top in which the thin poly sealer coat is used under the lacquer. I'd originally hoped to purchase the more expensive all lacquer model, however when this '54 RI Wraptail came up for sale I immediatly bought it as I never see the wraptail Goldtop Standards come up for sale.
Actually, I was in there to guide around you guys with Mr Adachi in setup section. It's funny I live in Australia near your company now lol. Thanks for sharing this video. I miss all of my workmates!!
So incredibly beautiful. such a love of the craft, we have 2 tst 56s and 30 years later they are just solid, beautiful friggin, made with love and pride old school workmanship.
FUCK GIBSON -- Lousy Corporation files Bankruptcy so they can stay in business without paying their dept and then turns around and sells their JUNK for more money! I say CHIPSON FOREVER!
I have an early 70's Sigma Les Paul. These were made for Martin by Tokai before Tokai made their own Reborn/Love Rock models. Still an amazing guitar, I'd put it up against anything Gibson are making today.
@boleynali . The factory was opened in 1947, this is where the legendary Tokais were made and this is where Tokais are made today. Even when they're half asleep they make better guitars than Gibson.
@@hectorheath Correct, the have different level of instruments. Premium Tokai are made in Japan, mid level models have been made in South Korea while the entry level Tokai are produced in China.
Common thing in Japan. It's not uncommon to sleep at work. Socially accepted if I could say. P.S. you don't need to be on steroids for building a guitar.

@@jeffdugger3276 Wood does not "breathe" and if it does anyway you should call it "Pinocchio". ;)
@Gerd Pfeil You clearly don't know jack shit about wood grain. Might want to keep your ignorant comments to yourself in the future.
I own a Tokai Love Rock LS 136 F, this guitar is simply a perfection, Love it so much.
I'm contemplating buying a Tokai, just love Japanese made guitars, you can feel the quality oozing from every part of the instrument.

Today the Traditional Series are made in China and Vintage and Premium Series in Japan.

They're probably sane enough to clean it up only after the day is over.
