    Good Sunday Morning!
    **SPECIAL SHOUTOUT** Thank you to the community members who stopped by my impromptu stream and helped me workshop some ideas for today's video thumbnail! This was a community effort and I had such a good time hanging out and laughing nervously with all of you! 😅
    I hope you enjoy the 3 episode reaction I've wrestled with since 2:30 am to get up on the channel 😂.
    We are finally putting a close to our Live Action comparisons with the anime and moving into unique first time territory!
    I can't tell you how excited I am to be at this point and to be able to share it with you!
    See you Thursday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    One thing that kind of annoyed me in Live Action is that while I love they did the moment of Luffy shattering his blade, Arlong didn't even really use Shark Saw before it got broken in that.
    The map room scene here is so amazing. Cannot be emphasized enough that in this version Luffy specifically made a point not to hear Nami's backstory. He started this fight because Arlong made her cry and that was all Luffy needed. But the second he got in that map room and saw the bloody pen he understood so much and what needed to be done. It is also so satisfying that demolishing that room and those maps was so damaging to Arlong while simultaneously liberating to Nami.

      100% I enjoyed both, but I was quite taken aback by how much the action slowed down to really emphasize that liberation for Nami. I think I cut a few other moments out, but the last two episodes especially used visual metaphors for Nami's liberation. I can't stress enough how awesome that is.
      We get a chance to see how Oda relates this to Nami. What he might compare it to.
      Just really well done, and genuinely feels like I'm always in for a pleasant surprise when I sit down to react!

    15:48 Luffy's speech is so true. One isn't enough he needs his friends just like how many years Nami has fought till she has them. She's no longer alone.

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +2

      I really felt so fulfilled hearing that because I do feel like he was articulating so eloquently what I was slowly arriving at over all these episodes. And even as far back as Shells Town, when he completely has his back to Morgan to focus on Helmeppo and Zoro comes in clutch.
      I might have wondered if it was luck at the time, but it's pretty clear he was already placing his trust in others as far back as that as well.
      This was, indeed, such a good speech!

    When arlong whips Luffy around his head all I can think of is that Petey Pablo “North Carolinaaaaa! Come on and raise up” song

  • @GirKawaii

    Luffy's speech has always been one of my favorite things about this arc. And I always carry it in my heart, when I feel overwhelmed or desperate, when I feel like I can't carry any more, I remember that I can't do everything and that I have family/friends to count on.
    On the other hand, Nami's liberation at seeing that destroyed room and her happiness at Luffy's proclamation that she is his friend is beautiful. I imagine that for so many years the word "friend/nakama" was stained by the use that Arlong gave it, having a bitter connotation. But the way Luffy says it, what represents friendship for him, and the purity that the word once again takes for Nami, is very beautiful. It went from being a word linked to mockery by Arlong, to one that symbolizes freedom. A new chapter in Nami's life

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for the kind words! That moment and speech was so incredible, not just for the meaning he gave to his crew, but how much it meant to me trying to define his character over these episodes and how succinctly he tied it all up with a nice bow. THAT is the hallmark of a great writer, and it really did impress me so much!
      Have a good week as well. Nami's farewell is coming on Thursday. See you there!

    The one who did all the assassination attempts was Nami herself. The villagers wouldn't have due to the threat of screwing up Nami's plan to buy their freedom.
    As for Usopp, you haven't seen anything of his real skills as a sniper yet. He can make trained marines with rifles look like complete chumps using a slingshot lmao.
    And you think you have seen them tug on the heartstrings? Oh you poor naive person. You ain't seen nothing yet. Its gonna take a while at this rate, but I can't wait for a few hundred episodes down the line. I won't give a specific number. I don't want you looking it up. but eventually you will see the TRUE genius of Oda, the animators, voice actors, and sound people.
    Finally this isn't quite the end of the Arlong park saga. The arcs generally follow a specific set of steps. This is the first time they do it but the true end is about to happen in the next episode or two. You will see what I mean.

    yup 11:33 I really liked the OPLA but I wish they took 1 min to show some internal struggle for Ussop in this scene. it's one of the reasons Ussop is so Good!. he did the dame thing when Arlong threatened the Villagers he shot Arlong drawing attention as usdop was on the roof he ran yeah but in doing so he saved them in that scene

      I probably would do more, to be honest, if my computer was a little more dependable. This video took about 5 hours to edit, not because of complex edits, but because the software crashed 27 times, and unless I saved it recently, I was back to a checkpoint of its choosing.
      Everyone's enjoying the reactions, and I'm playing Dark Souls, no, Editing Ring, with my software beating a hard boss with no summons to get it out on UA-cam. 🤣
      Single reactions just jive a lot better for right now with my current capabilities. But I'll sprinkle in some multi episode reactions from time to time!

    I would recommend listenting if people say 'nakama' or 'tomodachi', since they translate both as friend, whereas 'nakama' is a bit more like comrade (like crewmate would fit as translation).
    I really liked your commentary on the anchor theme - see this is why I like your reaction so much. No one else I know picks up on these themes on their first watch through! :D
    I kind of wished the LA did a few things differently here. Like making Arlong's last attack hit Luffy, making the destruction of the map room about Nami instead of a way to beat Arlong and not having Luffy say 'maybe I can't beat you, but I can destroy everything you built' (felt out of character).
    Otherwise I totally loved it in the LA as well :D
    I still remember all my feeling the first time I watched the Anime and I still love this Arc so much after all this time

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +1

      Haha. To be fair, I see Nami as having 2 character arcs, one is the conflict with Arlong at Arlong Park, and the other is Cocoyashi village with the villagers, Nojiko, and Bellemere. So to me, Arlong Park Arc (blast you, I heard myself say it my head!) Is over, and I'm currently starting the editing of the end of the Cocoyashi Arc.
      To be fair, I don't see Luffy in the OPLA saying he can destroy everything Arlong built as being too out of character. He acknowledged that what Arlong had built was on the back of Nami's achievements, so him saying this is fairly comparable to the quieter moment where he looks at the bloodied quill in his hands and resolves to do what he must do in the anime.
      If anything, I think the delivery of the line is a little clunky. I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that one was one of Inaki's first scenes where he's still finding his feet.
      I'm really excited for the adventures ahead and sharing all the discoveries along the way!
      To be honest. I would have missed the Anchor imagery if I'd just been watching and hadn't paused and stared at it while I was thinking. I don't even think I finished the first thought. Once I saw the Anchor, I just started riffing on that. That's kind of how my reactions go. They are clunky, not perfect, but they always perfectly represent me.
      Until the next adventure!

      To be fair, I was so scatter brained and nervous, I barely made it past the intro before I shifted to thumbnail design. I think going forward, we'll just keep it around designing video thumbnails. It's a little less awkward. Haha!
      I just recorded up to 49 yesterday and I must say (no spoilers) Loguetown... wow!
      P.S.
      It's definitely worth a laugh to check out the stream vod (video before this one) and scroll towards the end when I tried to add myself into the thumbnail, and the absolute hilarity that ensued. It was a good time!

    18:47 Imagery has to be very obvious for me to catch it - the spider is very clear, for instance; I never saw the anchor imagery, but it's clear as day, isn't it?
    It does fit here. Luffy wears an anchor T-shirt when he's little, and Krieg isn't the only one who calls him that.
    Apparently watching reactors for me is not just the vicarious thrill of watching for the first time through someone else's eyes, but to learn things that I have missed before.

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +1

      I'm not going to lie, I would have never picked up on the anchor imagery if I hadn't paused.
      The one thing I am finding is that it's one thing to be told something is deep, and has layers, and quite another to experience it for yourself.
      For me, that's been the biggest adventure in One Piece up to this point.
      And it's these moments and compositions that go quietly unannounced that, to me, feel like the loudest parts of Oda's psyche when he's telling this story.
      His mind operates on literal, figurative, and abstract levels, coupled with his inclination for comedic writing and his ability to express emotion through motion (like one of my first reactions is titled).
      I can't think of anyone in any other creative arts field that can compare that can deftly navigate overt themes on a grand level while also remaining nuanced in smaller, quieter moments.
      And the even wilder part is how much of that he may just subconsciously do. And we are the ones that ascribe these meanings.
      I think that's what makes doing this and sharing this creative endeavor so satisfying. That give and take between author, reactor, and audience to bring new perspective and appreciation to so.ething so beloved.
      I'm always excited to be told the story when I sit down to react and am honored to have the privilege to share in that excitement with so many others with their own unique experiences.
      I'm glad you're along for this journey! We'll see what other hidden treasures we can unearth together along the way!

    What a time for a remake anime to get announced. Now to wait for something like Yu Yu Hakusho (my second favorite after One Piece) (dub-only, though) to receive the same.
    Also, thank you for streaming your editing process for these ones. Been getting very antsy on how I'll need to approach that for myself

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +1

      Just reacted to the announcement! I'm editing it now, and it should be up in an hour or two would be my guess!
      And no problem! I thought about making a video to kind of explain my decision making process in how I edit my reaction videos, what software and tools I use, and how to K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) as a foundation, since I don't really do a lot of fancy editing.
      I'll wait on that until I'm a little more established first, I'd hate for a helpful video to only get a few hundred views when I know if I was wondering these things, others are surely out there doing it too!

      True! However, the Arlong Park portion of East Blue is. EP 44 is more of a conclusion to Cocoyashi Village, so that's why I consider this an ending of sorts.

  • @depressedtv

    From here on out it's going to get better and better and better until it becomes god-tier and most likely will become one the best stories you've ever experienced.
    I've only read the manga (and watched key scenes in the anime), so I never had issues with the pacing. The anime has notoriously bad pacing, so hopefully that doesn't effect things too much.
    I would recommend skipping all filler episodes, except the G8 arc and mixed filler/canon episodes.

    • @Noxiddar
      @Noxiddar  6 місяців тому +3

      I don't think I'll skip over anything. I'm not in a hurry to catch up or anything. I am definitely keen to see what's next!
