My mom would make a lot of food from scratch because it was more affordable and more nutritious than buying a lot of the ready-made stuff. I also remember improvising snacks because we didn't have typical "junk food" in the house very often, unless there was a birthday party or something. My parents would always make sure there was food to eat, even if it had to be made from scratch
This is the moment most people come to appreciate One Piece and understand why it's the greatest of all time. Not to mention solidifying Luffy as a fantastic character. Luffy comes to the island because he already accepts Nami as their Navigator. He values his friends so highly and shows it by just being there. He stops Nami from stabbing herself. She frustratingly doesn't understand why Luffy is going to such lengths despite knowing nothing about her past and being told to leave. None of it would have changed Luffy's mind because all he sees is his friend in need of help and he's just waiting for her to finally ask him for it. It's so satisfying to see Luffy show how much he truly cares without using any words to show it. Luffy is a fictional character but everyone deserves to have somebody like him in their corner.
