My friend's dad just custom ordered one of these through BMW Individual. I'm completely blown away by it. As Charlie has said, it really is the do-it-all vehicle. The jack of all trades and master of quite a few. The Merino leather upgrade is an absolute must. It really makes it feel like a 7 series.

Any problems? how does the battery hold up?

I think it is not accurate for you to say that if you want to use only the petrol for the x545e, to use the sports mode. The sports mode engages both petrol and the battery to get the most power. Its strange you did the 0 to 60 mph test using the adaptive mode because uhmm adaptive means adapting to the driving style. The sports mode will be the best to test the acceleration as suspension stiffens, car hunkers down, gears shift quicker etc. This vehicle will only use the petrol exclusively when the electric part is completely depleted but even then with regen braking and coasting etc there will be a minimal amount of the battery being charged up even when depleted.

Just a suggestion for your future PHEV reviews, could you please focus a bit more on the PHEV drivetrain itself? For example, do a range test, explain how the EV/ICE transition takes place in hybrid or EV mode, what about charging? What is the real world economy looking like?

It is one of the Grey colors. Probably Artic Grey Metallic.
