I went to school with Shirley's son at Passaic High School in the early 70's and heard of his mother being one of the Shirelles. It wasn't until years later in the 80's a I became appreciative of their music because it wasn't played on radio stations with Funk, Disco& R&B.I started listening to it on my own because I liked mostly music from the 60's first and became enamored by their music sound even to this day.I believe it was Carole King that wrote their hit: Will you still love me tomorrow that I found fascinating!
I have to say this was the group that really made me notice.soul music.I was about 10 or 11. They were on the pop charts. The msic had great arrangements. I always thought they were singing to me. My favorite "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" . Once again bro you bringing some music education for the folks that don't know.
Thanks, I was contemporary with these wonderful ladies (High Schooll 58-62). I loved their music. I so admire how they built a career and changed music as kids. Wow! I hope to meet them all in Glory.
The first female group i ever heard!! Fell in luv with will you love me tomorrow!! And others my sister would sing all their songs! I saw them once at the oldies but goodies show!! Thanks for this salute!!
Got a Shirelles compilation album and it"s choc full of really good to great songs. Songs that will forever be played whilst mankind is on this planet ! Especially love "Last Minute Miracle" Has a NOrthern Soul rhythm to it (I think !). They and The Pointer Sisters are right at the top of the tree IMHO.
thanks for making this video. the shirelles just dont get the respevt they deserve .love their music. they were beautiful women with beautiful voices. i've tried to hear every song they released. Is there any books written about them? I'd enjpy learning what it was for them, as they started out and became famous.
Just for the record: I grew up in Berkeley, CA. We used to sing DooWop on campus in 1962 at BHS. This whole "girl group" thing was alien to me. So was all these genre labels. It was all Rock and Roll to me. Girl group, 'schmirl' group. WTF cares? All those labels are put on by the scmucks who ripped the talent off- marketing crap by dipshit grifter Suits squeezeing every nickel from the kids who were ten times the human beings that they weren't.
O yeah. again those blue lights in the basement type of songs. man you know how to take a brother back down memory lane On the flip side you know how to remind a brother how damn old he is 😂 You da man 👍

A couple of their songs was on movie soundtracks. They were some beautiful women and they definitely could sing. Keep bringing us these great videos!!
All of them were pretty ladies. I hate how our mainstream media ignores so many of our people who were pioneers.

Their voices, their song writing, and their stage presence. They certainly left their mark in this world. Amazing group of fine musicians.

One of my favorite group
❤ The Shirelles in the 60s Pretty and Talented Girls unfortunately the Supremes and others overshadowed them
Tonight’s the Night has always been my favorite.

They’re an important group

I loved the Shirelles but the Chantels were before them and they had hits too! (even the Bobettes should be in there too!
