A 7'2" heavy rod with braid is a better set-up for frogging over pads, a tad overkill for a whopper plopper. Easy to rip the trebles out, no give in the line or pole. Just saying.
i use a 7'1 heavy with 30 pound braid everywhere i go, ive caught everything from bluegill the size of my palm up to a 28.61 blue cat. never had a problem. i can set the hook just fine and everything

The reality is fishing is fishing it doesn't matter what you use as long as you are out there catching fish and having fun thats all that matters.
